Download or read book My Book of Beautiful Oops written by Barney Saltzberg and published by Workman Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-30 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every mistake is an opportunity to make something beautiful. This is the central idea of Beautiful Oops!, Barney Saltzberg’s beloved bestseller—and now My Book of Beautiful Oops!, an interactive journal for young artists, takes that principle into unexpected new directions. A hands-on journal that’s meant to be personalized—drawn in, painted on, torn up, smudged, or otherwise artistically wrecked—My Book of Beautiful Oops! is filled with folded, crumpled, die-cut, and lift-the-flap pages that will challenge the reader’s sense of play. The friendly green alligator from the first book prompts the reader: Bend a page. Decorate a smudge. Play with splats and spills. Even complete a poem that was accidentally ripped in half. My Beautiful Book of Oops! champions imagination, play, and the courage to express oneself. It’s about self-forgiveness, about turning off that inner critic that clamors for perfection. And it’s about freedom—the freedom to be creative and follow your curiosity wherever it goes. That’s a lesson to celebrate.

Book excerpt: A life lesson that all parents want their children to learn: It’s OK to make a mistake. In fact, hooray for mistakes! A mistake is an adventure in creativity, a portal of discovery. A spill doesn’t ruin a drawing—not when it becomes the shape of a goofy animal. And an accidental tear in your paper? Don’t be upset about it when you can turn it into the roaring mouth of an alligator. An award winning, best-selling, one-of-a-kind interactive book, Beautiful Oops! shows young readers how every mistake is an opportunity to make something beautiful. A singular work of imagination, creativity, and paper engineering, Beautiful Oops! is filled with pop-ups, lift-the-flaps, tears, holes, overlays, bends, smudges, and even an accordion “telescope”—each demonstrating the magical transformation from blunder to wonder.

Download or read book I Am written by Jeffrey McNeel and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2010-08 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concerning the blending of Judaism—the original covenant, the law and the prophets, the Old Testament—with that of the Truth, could the Word go further than just annulling the Law of Moses? Our Father addresses this twice, the Son of Man addresses this twice, and Paul interpreted this many times. First, when talking to David in Psalms, the Father says His Son will be a priest of a different order, the eternal high priest not of the order of Aaron. This is confirmed by Paul, who claims that the entire order of Aaron's priesthood, the entire original covenant, was replaced with a better way. Paul states that every Jew of the day knew that a change in the priesthood would of necessity bring a change in the law. The law was not confined to parts of two books in the Torah. It is documented from the Word that Jesus and Paul consistently used the word law to refer to all the books of the prophets; the law was, according to them, never confined to the Law of Moses. This is a strong point and the focus of I Am: The Word on the Blending of Judaism and the Truth. Herein is communicated that Jesus and Paul used the term law to reference Isaiah, Psalms, and other books of the prophets. This is profound, and there can be no mistaking that, to Jesus and Paul, the law included all of the Torah and all of the books of the prophets. What does this mean for you? This gives the commandment 'we are no longer under the law' an entirely new perspective. Read I Am and learn more.
Download or read book When Language Breaks Down written by Elissa D. Asp and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-02-04 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctors, nurses, and other caregivers often know what people with Alzheimer's disease or Asperger's 'sound like' - that is they recognise patterns in people's discourse, from sounds and silences, to words, sentences and story structures. Such discourse patterns may inform their clinical judgements and affect the decisions they make. However, this knowledge is often tacit, like recognising a regional accent without knowing how to describe its features. This is the first book to present models for comprehensively describing discourse specifically in clinical contexts and to illustrate models with detailed analyses of discourse patterns associated with degenerative (Alzheimer's) and developmental (autism spectrum) disorders. The book is aimed not only at advanced students and researchers in linguistics, discourse analysis, speech pathology and clinical psychology but also at researchers, clinicians and caregivers for whom explicit knowledge of discourse patterns might be helpful.
Download or read book Soccer and Philosophy written by Ted Richards and published by Open Court. This book was released on 2010-04-10 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of incisive articles gives a leading team of international philosophers a free kick toward exploring the complex and often hidden contours of the world of soccer. What does it really mean to be a fan (and why should we count Aristotle as one)? Why do great players such as Cristiano Ronaldo count as great artists (up there alongside Picasso, one author argues)? From the ethics of refereeing to the metaphysics of bent (like Beckham) space-time, this book shows soccer fans and philosophy buffs alike new ways to appreciate and understand the world's favorite sport.

Book excerpt: The Lord is Wonderful and is my Bright and Morning Star. He is the Lifter Up Of My Head, my Light, my Strength, my Rock, my Sanctuary and my Refuge. He is the First and the Last, the Almighty and the Chief Among Ten Thousand. He is my Mercy, my Goodness, my Loving Kindness and my Steadfast Love. He is My Prince, my Immanuel and my Father. Come with me and explore the riches and wonders of God's character, through His names and descriptions in the Bible. We will get to know Him better, enter into a deeper intimate relationship with Him and be able to say, "Yes, He is altogether lovely; He is my beloved." Along with my previous two books, "Love Me Passionately" and "You Are Everything," this book encourages you to interact with the Scriptures. This was something done by Joshua, the apostle Paul as well as our Lord. As you speak aloud the text, you will learn the benefits of confessing the Truth, your faith will grow and you will be able to trust God more. Lord, there are times when life does not seem to be fair, but You are good. There are times when it is difficult to lift up my head to You, but You are good. There are times when it is hard to say, "I love You," but You are good. Lord, when I am struggling and in despair, help me, for You are good. Paul F Taylor
Download or read book Why We Can t Sleep written by Ada Calhoun and published by Grove Press. This book was released on 2020-01-07 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The acclaimed author explores the hidden crises of Gen X women in this “engaging hybrid of first-person confession, reportage [and] pop culture analysis” (The New Republic). Ada Calhoun was married with children and a good career—and yet she was miserable. She thought she had no right to complain until she realized how many other Generation X women felt the same way. What could be behind this troubling trend? To find out, Calhoun delved into housing costs, HR trends, credit card debt averages, and divorce data. At every turn, she saw that Gen X women were facing new problems as they entered middle age—problems that were being largely overlooked. Calhoun spoke with women across America who were part of the generation raised to “have it all.” She found that most were exhausted, terrified about money, under-employed, and overwhelmed. And instead of being heard, they were being told to lean in, take “me-time,” or make a chore chart to get their lives and homes in order. In Why We Can’t Sleep, Calhoun opens up the cultural and political contexts of Gen X’s predicament. She offers practical advice on how to ourselves out of the abyss—and keep the next generation of women from falling in. The result is reassuring, empowering, and essential reading for all middle-aged women, and anyone who hopes to understand them.
