Book Hydroxy Pyridones as Antifungal Agents with Special Emphasis on Onychomycosis

Download or read book Hydroxy Pyridones as Antifungal Agents with Special Emphasis on Onychomycosis written by Sam Shuster and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes the results of two symposia held on hydroxy-pyridones as antifungal agents organized on the occasion of the International Summit on Cutaneous Antifungal Therapy 1996 in Vancouver and the 19th World Congress of Dermatology 1997 in Sydney. Some of the papers deal with the basic mechanisms of action and how these translate into product features, e.g. activity spectrum. Other papers describe the unique properties of hydroxy-pyridones, such as high penetration into and through keratinic tissues or their activity as dual inhibitor on 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase which leads to a remarkable antiinflammatory effect. Last but not least various accounts are given which show how this unique product profile aids the treatment of various fungal diseases, especially onychomycosis.

Book Pyridine and Its Derivatives Volume 14 Part 3

Download or read book Pyridine and Its Derivatives Volume 14 Part 3 written by Erwin Klingsberg and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-15 with total page 927 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, since its inception, has been recognized as a cornerstone of heterocyclic chemistry. Each volume attempts to discuss all aspects – properties, synthesis, reactions, physiological and industrial significance – of a specific ring system. To keep the series up-to-date, supplementary volumes covering the recent literature on each individual ring system have been published. Many ring systems (such as pyridines and oxazoles) are treated in distinct books, each consisting of separate volumes or parts dealing with different individual topics. With all authors are recognized authorities, the Chemistry of Heterocyclic Chemistry is considered worldwide as the indispensable resource for organic, bioorganic, and medicinal chemists.

Book Biotic Type Antioxidants the prospective search area for novel chemical drugs

Download or read book Biotic Type Antioxidants the prospective search area for novel chemical drugs written by E A. Parfenov and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-19 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discovery of molecular and cellular mechanisms of pathology, together with the present data on drug treatment result in enhanced drug design and testing. The known mechanisms of biological activity as displayed by ascorbic acid and other natural reductones are the reason that they are considered to be physiologically compatible antioxidants, many of which are trace elements in food. The pharmacological potential of natural antioxidants may be enhanced by chemical modification. Biotic antioxidants possess an important potential to be a reliable basis of the development of new multipurpose drugs, within the framework of existing technological structures. This book shows approaches for possible use of these natural antioxidants. In particular, such an approach is described for the case of the design of superoxide dismutase models with anti-tumour activity.

The book describes the hypotheses and findings related to the role of iron in cardiovascular disease (including reperfusion injury), cancer, aging, and autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases. Other topics covered include the molecular biology and biochemistry of iron, the general principles governing iron balance, iron in the immune system and acute phase response, and new preventive and therapeutic strategies. Iron and Human Disease will be a useful reference for biomedical investigators, physicians, nutritionists, and public health officials.

Book The Development of Iron Chelators for Clinical Use

Download or read book The Development of Iron Chelators for Clinical Use written by Raymond J. Bergeron and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1993-12-06 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Representing an integration of basic and clinical sciences, this book focuses on new concepts in the design, synthesis, and testing of iron chelators for clinical application. It provides an overview of the pathophysiology of iron metabolism as it relates to the origins of iron-mediated tissue damage, and it clearly outlines successes and shortcomings of current iron chelation therapy in preventing such damage. The book also describes a number of other exciting potential therapeutic applications of iron chelators, such as in the treatment of malaria. Other topics covered include iron coordination chemistry, recent advances in synthetic methods for accessing iron chelators, siderophore models, subcellular iron storage targets, and the possible application of biotechnology in the production of therapeutically useful iron chelators. The book also describes new animal models for evaluating chelators.
