Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has broad, nationwide water resources planning and management responsibilities. In response to the needs of Corps planners, the Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) has developed and supports a family of computer programs designed to aide them in their work. These programs include catchment, channel, alluvial, and statistical process models, system operation models, plan evaluation models, and data management programs. These models individually and collectively have been used throughout the Corps in a wide range of water resources planning studies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water Management Models: A Guide to Software is designed to make the inventory of modeling tools more accessible to water management professionals. The purpose of the book is to assist water managers, planners, engineers, and scientists in sorting through the maze of models to understand which ones might be most useful for their particular modeling needs. Information is provided to facilitate identification, selection, and acquisition of software packages for a broad spectrum of water resources planning and management applications.
Download or read book Institutional Support of Water Resource Models written by John C. Peters and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solutions to human and institutional problems that inhibit effective development and use of water resource computer models are identified. Support of water resource models is treated under the topics of quality control, technology transfer, model improvement and maintenance, and education of managers/decision makers. A main thesis is that effective model support is best achieved by means of centralized organizational units that are designed to perform a wide range of support activities that include model evaluation and enhancement preparation of documentation, user assistance, maintenance, the conducting of training courses and seminars, and project applications. Download or read book Developing and Managing a Comprehensive Reservoir Analysis Model written by Richard J. Hayes and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Corps' Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) has developed a generalized simulation model capable of analyzing complex river-reservoir systems. The development of the model, 'HEC-5, Simulation of Flood Control and Conservation Systems' (Eichert, 1974, 1975) has been paced by the changing mission of the Corps as well as the evolution of computer systems. HEC-5 development and management, including code development, testing, documentation, training and field application experience, is discussed. (fr).
