Book Hydrogen Fluoride Chemical Laser A Demonstration of Pure Chemical Pumping II New Concepts in Fast Mixing Flow Systems

Download or read book Hydrogen Fluoride Chemical Laser A Demonstration of Pure Chemical Pumping II New Concepts in Fast Mixing Flow Systems written by Joseph F. Spinnler and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes results of continuing experiments directed toward chemical lasers in a flow system and a single-pulse system. A new laminar diffusive-mixing system for obtaining very fast mixing rates is described. Conclusive evidence for lasing action of hydrogen fluoride in the single-pulse system is offered. Certain theoretical considerations are discussed. Fast flow velocities; fast, reproducible mixing; simple flow patterns; and fast, truly homogeneous initiation reaction have been recognized as critical factors in successfully achieving laser action in a continuous-flow hydrogen-fluorine system and several limitations inherent in the initial approach have been removed. (Author).

Spinnler and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes results of continuing experiments in a laminar-diffusive mixing laser system. Conclusive evidence for CW coherent laser action of hydrogen fluoride is offered, with pumping energy supplied solely by the energy of chemical reaction. Flow conditions of H2 and F2 and other fuels and reactant gases are also presented.

Book Operating Characteristics Absorptivity Reflectivity Measurements and Pulse System Design of the NPS Naval Postgraduate School Hydrogen Fluoride Deuterium Fluoride Laser

Download or read book Operating Characteristics Absorptivity Reflectivity Measurements and Pulse System Design of the NPS Naval Postgraduate School Hydrogen Fluoride Deuterium Fluoride Laser written by E. L. Garcia and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hydrogen Fluoride/Deterium Fluoride Laser is a fast flow electrical discharge operated chemical laser. Refitting of the subsystems of the laser was completed and lasing was observed utilizing a 100 percent reflectance mirror and a 95 percent reflectance output coupling mirror. The maximum multiline output power obtained was 2.6 Watts at 19.0 kV and 475 mA. The data obtained was in general agreement with previously reported data. However, an increase in power output from 1.6 to 2.6 Watts was obtained by utilization of a Hipotronics power supply that enabled usage of higher output voltages for SF6 dissociation. Measurements were also taken over a variation of the He, SF6, H2 and O2 flow rates resulting in the change of optimum flow rates for the above listed gases. Target reflectivity/absorptivity measurements were taken and a dependence on incidence angle with the laser beam was found. For the P-doped Silicon wafer used, the power absorbed decreased over the range of 25 to 60 degrees. At the 25 degree angle approximately 95 percent of the incident power was absorbed. The reflected power was found to increase with the increase in target angle with approximately 95 percent of the incident power being reflected at 60 degrees. Originator-supplied keywords include: Hydrogen Fluoride/Deterium Fluoride Laser, Absorptivity/Reflectivity.

Book Mixing and Reaction in High Speed H2 F2 Diluent Flows for Use with Supersonic Pulsed HF Lasers

Download or read book Mixing and Reaction in High Speed H2 F2 Diluent Flows for Use with Supersonic Pulsed HF Lasers written by William J Thayer (III.) and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rationale for supersonic pulsed chemical lasers and problem areas related to design and use of associated reagent premixers are described. An analytical model of reagent mixing and reaction for evaluation of 'prereaction' and mixing characteristics of high enthalpy H2-F2-diluent flows is formulated and programmed for computer solution. The code is used to evaluate parametric dependence of prereaction level and required mixing length on principal parameters defining candidate premixer flows. Possible flow choking and subsequent detonation in the mixing region resulting from reacting flow transients following a fast laser-reaction pulse are examined, both by defining conditions under which choking by chemical heat addition and/or Chapman-Jouguet detonations are energetically allowed, and by using a simplified reacting flow model to estimate kinetic limitations on probable occurrence of such disturbances. Book Reacting Flow and Pressure Recovery Processes in HF DF Chemical Lasers

Download or read book Reacting Flow and Pressure Recovery Processes in HF DF Chemical Lasers written by Walter R Warren (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several properties of gas dynamic processes that occur in flowing gas lasers are discussed and their importance in establishing laser performance is outlined. The continuous HF (or DF) supersonic diffusion chemical laser is chosen to illustrate the coupling between chemical energy release and fluid dynamics in a laser of current interest. A simplified quasi-one-dimensional analysis is used to illustrate the energy release rates in different parts of a combustion-heated DF laser. The complex nature of the reacting mixing flow in the lasing zone is described, and the properties of the initial reaction generated shock waves in the flow are estimated through a displacement thickness analysis. Finally, a partial constant area concept for use with a supersonic diffusion chemical laser is analyzed. (Modified author abstract).
