Book Hydraulically Actuated Hexapod Robots

Download or read book Hydraulically Actuated Hexapod Robots written by Kenzo Nonami and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-29 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Legged robots are a promising locomotion system, capable of performing tasks that conventional vehicles cannot. Even more exciting is the fact that this is a rapidly developing field of study for researchers from a variety of disciplines. However, only a few books have been published on the subject of multi-legged robots. The main objective of this book is to describe some of the major control issues concerning walking robots that the authors have faced over the past 10 years. A second objective is to focus especially on very large hydraulically driven hexapod robot locomotion weighing more than 2,000 kg, making this the first specialized book on this topic. The 10 chapters of the book touch on diverse relevant topics such as design aspects, implementation issues, modeling for control, navigation and control, force and impedance control-based walking, fully autonomous walking, walking and working tasks of hexapod robots, and the future of walking robots. The construction machines of the future will very likely resemble hydraulically driven hexapod robots like the ones described in this book – no longer science fiction but now a reality.

Book Design of a Hydraulically actuated Hexapod Robot for Organic Farming

Download or read book Design of a Hydraulically actuated Hexapod Robot for Organic Farming written by David B. Prigg and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popularity of organic farming is increasing due to many environmental and health benefits over conventional farming. A major difference is that most herbicides cannot be used since they consist of synthetic chemicals, some of which are harmful. Organic farms require more manual labor, most of which is from hand weeding crops. Current methods of weed suppression have major drawbacks that can often lead to high costs. The downside of this is that the produce is much more expensive and not widely available in supermarkets. As a solution, an automated weeding hexapod robot capable of autonomously navigating crop rows, detecting and destroying weeds is being designed. This paper focuses on the design and verification of a locomotion system. In order to accomplish this, the robust walking platform is able to move quickly and accurately while running for an extended period of time. The platform can withstand rough weather conditions and heavy loading during operation. The cost is on par with other small to medium-sized farm equipment.

Book Emerging Trends in Mobile Robotics

Download or read book Emerging Trends in Mobile Robotics written by Hideo Fujimoto and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 1387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive account of stochastic filtering as a modeling tool in finance and economics. It aims to present this very important tool with a view to making it more popular among researchers in the disciplines of finance and economics. It is not intended to give a complete mathematical treatment of different stochastic filtering approaches, but rather to describe them in simple terms and illustrate their application with real historical data for problems normally encountered in these disciplines. Beyond laying out the steps to be implemented, the steps are demonstrated in the context of different market segments. Although no prior knowledge in this area is required, the reader is expected to have knowledge of probability theory as well as a general mathematical aptitude. Its simple presentation of complex algorithms required to solve modeling problems in increasingly sophisticated financial markets makes this book particularly valuable as a reference for graduate students and researchers interested in the field. Furthermore, it analyses the model estimation results in the context of the market and contrasts these with contemporary research publications. It is also suitable for use as a text for graduate level courses on stochastic modeling.

Book Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics

Download or read book Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics written by Juan Andrade Cetto and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-03-15 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book includes a set of selected papers from the fourth “International Conference on Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics” (ICINCO 2009), held in Milan, Italy, from 2 to 5 July 2009. The conference was organized in three simultaneous tracks: “Intelligent Control Systems and Optimization”, “Robotics and Automation” and “Systems Modeling, Signal Processing and Control”. The book is based on the same structure. ICINCO received 365 paper submissions, not including those of workshops, from 55 countries, in all continents. After a double blind paper review performed by the Program Committee only 34 submissions were accepted as full papers and thus selected for oral presentation, leading to a full paper acceptance ratio of 9%. Additional papers were accepted as short papers and posters. A further refinement was made after the conference, based also on the assessment of presentation quality, so that this book includes the extended and revised versions of the very best papers of ICINCO 2009. Commitment to high quality standards is a major concern of ICINCO that will be maintained in the next editions of this conference, including not only the stringent paper acceptance ratios but also the quality of the program committee, keynote lectures, workshops and logistics.
