Book Bio Technology Audit in Hungary

Download or read book Bio Technology Audit in Hungary written by Ulrike Bross and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a guideline for "Technology Audit" exercises for the transforming innovation systems of Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs). Further more, the book presents the results of an exemplary application of this guideline in the field of biotechnology in Hungary. The authors - a group of innovation re searchers of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (lSI), Germany, and of the Innovation Research Centre (IKU), Hungary - provide a sound concept for the identification of technological strengths and weaknesses of the CEECs' industrially oriented research systems as a basis for the design of advanced innovation policies. After the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) had proposed a "Technology Audit" of Hungary in 1993, a pilot audit was carried out under their auspices. In parallel, the German Federal Ministry of Education, Sci ence, Research and Technology (BMFT) put forward the idea of developing the audit concept further in order to make it applicable also in other Central and Eastern European Countries. They asked lSI to utilise the running OECD audits as a learn ing source and to work out a comprehensive audit approach.

Book Technology Transfer From Invention to Innovation

Download or read book Technology Transfer From Invention to Innovation written by A. Inzelt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technology transfer has expanded rapidly over the past 20 years in Western Europe, North America and the Pacific Rim. It has been estimated that some 50% of new products and processes will originate outside the primary developer; academic and other research institutions are obvious sources of much of this new technology. In the NATO Co-operating countries, however, technology transfer is in its infancy; it is crucial for wealth creation and improvement in the quality of life that this mechanism is developed. The papers selected for inclusion in this book discuss issues related to the development of technology transfer in NATO Co-operating countries. The book identifies crucial research issues for science and technology policy researchers and, as a conclusion, offers some policy recommendations. The authors are drawn from NATO and Co-operating partner countries, from other parts of the world, and from international organisations. The focus of the book is on the institutional framework of knowledge and technology transfer; intellectual property rights as sources of information and tools for co-operation; international, national and regional aspects of knowledge and technology dissemination and diffusion; and networking. Audience: Academic institutions, research institutes, intellectual property practitioners, science and technology policy makers, technology transfer managers, high-tech industries.

Book World Economy and Its Main Development Tendencies

Download or read book World Economy and Its Main Development Tendencies written by J. Nyilas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A great many socio-economic events of the utmost importance have taken place in rapid succession in the historically short period of hardly more than three decades. After the Second World War the pace of socio-economic progress has experienced an unprecedented acceleration. This is nothing new in itself. Social formations and the corresponding productive forces prior w socialism had also followed each other at a rapidly increasing rate. Acceleration can also be witnessed in the accumulation of human knowledge, in the fielc;ls of science and technology. Parallel with the development of the productive forces, the growth of population has been exponential. More than one and a half thousand years were needed for the world population to double since the beginning of our era, whereas it takes now less than 40 years. The emergence of capitalism, the appearance of mechanized mass production brought about a radical change in the general progress of human civilization. It opened up the machine age. The classics of Marxism highly appreciated the new power and labour machines and the resulting growth in production, and stated that the productive forces created under capitalism had far surpassed those brought about by all earlier societies taken together. This is true even though the technology of that time looked upon in hindsight had produced hardly more than primitive steam engines and simple labour machines which have by now become, for the most part, relics of technical history.
