Book excerpt: Bangladesh Ready-Made Garments (RMG) had grown significantly over the last decades in every term but unfortunately quality of locally produced goods is still an issue. According to BGMEA report (2014) RMG consists around 40% manufacturing as well as 50% of the total workforce and 78% of total export earnings generated from this sector. Most of the employees in RMG are women, around 90%, where 4.2 million people are working in this sector. However, the potential growth and prospect in the Bangladesh RMG sector is huge. And for using these opportunities it should focus on the proper implementation of HR policies to emphasis quality performance. In recent knowledge-based economic condition, human resource is the most crucial resource as organizational effectiveness and efficiency is largely depends on the utilization capacity of this resource, especially in the case of Ready-made Garments industry in Bangladesh. Yet, the realities for RMG organizations are that their people remain undervalued, under-trained, and underutilized. Due to improper HR practices, labor unrest rate in RMG is high, and the employee productivity rate is lower than its competitors. As RMG is the rising sector for further investment, now a day a much concern is needed to improve and sustain garments companies growth. Human Resource Management requires much more concern in the Bangladesh RMG sector. In this aspect, literature proved that HR practices didn't get much attention, which need to be measured and analyzed in the aspect of Bangladesh RMG sectors quality performance improvement as in RMG sector human resources is the main advantage for industrial growth and sustainable competitive advantage in business. So this study is required to lift up this expectation to fulfill this research gap.

If the human resources are managed properly, they can contribute to the success for the company. The effective management of human resource is possible through the implementation of sound HRM practices. The main objective of this research is studying the impact of HRM practices on employee performance in the context of cement industry in Bangladesh. For this purpose the researchers have tried to investigate impact of the various components of HRM practices on employee performance of a sample of 160 employees from seven cement companies listed in the Dhaka Stock Exchange. The data were analyzed by a regression analysis to determine the impact of HRM practices on employee performance. The result shows that training & development and opportunity for career development have a significant positive impact on employee performances. On the other hand, Performance appraisal, Compensation & Benefits, and Leadership Practices have a positive impact on employee performance but the impact is not significant in the context of cement industry in Bangladesh. Moreover, work life balance has a negative impact on employee's performance. Furthermore, efficient management of human resources can increase the performance of the employees of the cement companies in Bangladesh.

In the discipline of HR strategic management, comprehending how HRIS is connected to competitive strategies has emerged as a key research topic. This study's main objective is to establish a connection between competitive strategies and HRIS, as well as the applicability of such a relationship to organizational setting. The study takes into consideration an extensive investigation of the HRIS implementation in contemporary technological-based firms, which employ competitive strategies for operating their business effectively and for accomplishing goal. These strategies significantly affect how HRIS is implemented and how smoothly it operates, and HRIS itself helps to maximize the advantages of these tactics. These systems are never useful for exploiting competitive advantage, except from knowledgeable individuals like analysts. People will perform better and will help achieve both short-term and long-term goals if they are effectively managed and organized. On the other side, bad performance will occur if they are not adequately controlled. This research provides a comprehensive overview of the HRIS used by organizations in Bangladesh that fall under the HR or People and Organization (P&O) division. We are aware that good management of an organization's HR is crucial to achieving efficiency and effectiveness in day-to-day operations. This study provides the knowledge required to comprehend the HRIS, which is essential for gaining a competitive edge. In order to achieve a long-term competitive advantage, this research starts by identifying some of the data that will be essential for the final implementation of an HRIS. The results of this study point to a lower-to-medium degree positive correlation between HRIS payoff and organizational competitive strategies, but they also came to the conclusion that this correlation has little impact on business performance in Bangladesh.

Data has been collected from 08 prominent companies as well as 400 respondents. The study follows survey and key informants interview method. The findings of the study show that the employees' attitude of Multinational companies is positive than National companies towards various HRM aspects. The study concludes with suggestions for better management in the national companies.
