Book excerpt: Le travail s’intéresse à l’étude de la production d’huiles de pyrolyse à partir de déchets thermoplastiques, huiles qui peuvent être ensuite utilisées comme combustibles liquides pour les moteurs thermiques ou chaudières. L’étude a été conduite sur trois types d’installations, six types de thermoplastiques et deux types des thermodurcissables, qui ont permis d’identifier les paramètres optimaux (température et la vitesse de chauffe) pour leur conversion en produits condensables et d’établir les déchets les plus adaptés à la valorisation énergétique. Comme la viscosité des certains produits condensables est élevée, pour la valorisation dans les moteurs thermiques nous avons apporté des évolutions dans le procédé de conversion. Pour cela, nous avons utilisé des catalyseurs spécifiques. De l’analyse physicochimique des produits de pyrolyse (analyse élémentaire, humidité, taux de cendre, pouvoir calorifique, point d’écoulement, point éclair, etc...) a été conclu qu’on peut utiliser comme combustibles dans les moteurs thermiques les huiles de pyrolyse provenant de deux types de thermoplastiques. Les carburants formulés ont été testés en moteur Diesel, les performances « moteur » et les émissions polluantes étant comparées avec celles obtenues en utilisant le gasoil. On constate que ces performances sont améliorées en fonctionnement avec les nouveaux carburants établis.

Les resultats d'experience sur le moteur DEUTZ F2L912W expriment que cette huile a des qualites carburant acceptables malgre ses actions assez agressives sur la viscosite de l'huile lubrifiante et sur l'etat de surface de la chemise du moteur. Du point de vue financier, l'huile d'arachide est plus couteuse que le gazole mais en termes d'emission, elle est moins polluante que les hydrocarbures conventionnels. C'est l'occasion de dire que les biocarburants se voient les premiers concurrents des carburants fossiles d'ici quelques temps.

Book excerpt: L’utilisation des huiles végétales, qui ne sont destinées à la consommation humaine ou animale, comme carburant pour les moteurs Diesel apparaît comme une solution intéressante pour faire face à la raréfaction des énergies fossiles et au réchauffement climatique provoqué par les émissions de gaz à effet de serre. La caractérisation physico-chimique de l’huile d’eucalyptus a montré qu’elle ne peut pas être utilisée directement à l’état pure sur moteur vue sa viscosité élevée et sa mauvaise volatilité. La conversion de cette huile en biodiesel par une réaction chimique de transestérification a permis de rendre ses caractéristiques voisines de celles du gazole et conformes aux normes américaine (ASTM D6751) ou européenne (EN 14214). Une campagne d’essais a été effectuée sur un moteur diesel monocylindre pour l’étude des performances, des émissions et de la combustion du biodiesel préparé et de ses mélanges formulés avec le gazole. Les résultats obtenus ont montré que les biocarburants donnent de performances comparables à celles du gazole avec une réduction significative des émissions d’hydrocarbures, de monoxyde de carbone et de suies à fortes charges du moteur. Un modèle thermodynamique à une zone a été développé pour prédire la pression cylindre et les performances énergétiques (puissance effective, rendement thermique et consommation spécifique de carburant). La confrontation des résultats de simulation à ceux de l’expérimentation a montré une bonne concordance avec une moyenne des erreurs moins de 3%.
