Book How to Speak Civilian Fluently

Download or read book How to Speak Civilian Fluently written by Eric Wright and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-07 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Think about how difficult it is just to survive in a land where you don't know the language, much less thrive. Extremely difficult at best! Yet this is the challenge faced by every single one of the 200-to-250,000 military veterans entering the civilian labor force, i.e. the CIVDIV, every year! They don't know the language spoken by the civilian mangers that will hire, develop, and promote them. That language is 'management'. And that's exactly why military veteran, serial founder, and business philosopher and linguist Eric "Doc" Wright, PhD, wrote the book on How To Speak Civilian Fluently: And Prove It With Your CM Credential! After reading this book, military veterans will be fluent in 'management', i.e. they'll understand common CIVDIV favorites such as "P&L", "AR", "AP", "JIT", "Inventory Turnover Ratio", and many others, that every civilian around them understands because they all speak 'management' fluently. Additionally, they'll also be able to prove their fluency in 'management' by earning their internationally-recognized Certified Manager ("CM") credential from the nonprofit Institute of Certified Professional Managers. This means that every veteran reader is better prepared for, and more competitive in, the CIVDIV! Which also means corporate America, that they will interview better, they will integrate into your organization faster post-hire, and they will stick around longer because of a better on-boarding experience! As such, providing every new veteran hire you make with a copy of How To Speak Civilian Fluently: And Prove It With Your CM Credential! will save your organization money by reducing churn, hiring risk, and your tax burden with veteran hiring tax credits, and will increase their productivity and retention through a better on-boarding experience!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Native Americans are too few in number to swing presidential elections, affect national statistics, or attract consistent media attention. But their history illuminates our collective past and their current disadvantaged status reflects our problematic present. In American Indians: The First of This Land, C. Matthew Snipp provides an unrivaled chronicle of the position of American Indians and Alaskan Natives within the larger American society. Taking advantage of recent Census Bureau efforts to collect high-quality data for these groups, Snipp details the composition and characteristics of native Indian and Alaskan populations. His analyses of housing, family structure, language use and education, socioeconomic status, migration, and mortality are based largely on unpublished material not available in any other single source. He catalogs the remarkable diversity of a population—Eskimos, Aleuts, and numerous Indian tribes—once thought doomed to extinction but now making a dramatic comeback, exceeding 1 million for the first time in 300 years. Also striking is the pervasive influence of the federal bureaucracy on the social profile of American Indians, a profile similar at times to that of Third World populations in terms of literacy, income, and living conditions. Comparisons with black and white Americans throughout this study place its findings in perspective and confirm its stature as a benchmark volume. American Indians offers an unsurpassed overview of a minority group that is deeply embedded in American folklore, the first of this land historically but now among the last in its socioeconomic hierarchy. A Volume in the Russell Sage Foundation Census Series

Book The comprehensive approach

Download or read book The comprehensive approach written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Defence Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2010-03-18 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Defence Committee report recommends that when troops are committed to operations in future there must be robust plans to coordinate military and reconstruction efforts from the earliest stages. The next Government should lay out the requirements of the "Comprehensive Approach" (the combination of civilian and military actors in a counter-insurgency operation) in order better to preserve all the lessons learned in the complex operations of Iraq and Afghanistan, many of them having been painfully re-learned from Bosnia, Kosovo and even Malaya. The Committee looks to the recently formed Stabilisation Unit (owned by the Department for International Development, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Ministry of Defence) to maintain a capacity to deploy significant numbers of personnel for post-conflict reconstruction and to ensure that vital knowledge and skills gained during deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan are retained and built on. The Comprehensive Approach requires close work with local nationals to build up their capability and confidence in all fields including security, governance, law and order and development. This must include women at all levels. The Government needs to find better ways to draw on the expertise of NGOs without compromising the effectiveness and safety of aid workers on the ground.
