Download or read book Energy Management Supply and Conservation written by Clive Beggs and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-06-25 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With more and more concern being expressed over the Earth's dwindling energy resources as well as rising pollution levels, the subject of energy management and conservation is becoming increasingly important. Over half of all energy consumed is used in buildings so effective management of buildings whether commercial or domestic is vital. This book is a comprehensive text dealing with the theory and practice of the supply of energy to consumers, energy management and auditing and energy saving technology. It will be a core text on courses on energy management and building services, as well as updating professionals in the building sector.
Download or read book Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits written by John Cowan and published by American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. This book was released on 2004 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits provides purchasers and providers of energy audit services with a complete definition of good procedures for an energy survey and analysis. It also provides a format for defining buildings and their energy use that will allow data to be shared in meaningful ways. This publication specifically avoids a "cookbook" approach, recognizing that all buildings are different and each analyst needs to exercise a substantial amount of judgment. Instead, Procedures sets out generalized procedures to guide the analyst and the building owner, and provides a uniform method of reporting basic information. Different levels of analysis are organized into the following categories:Preliminary Energy Use Analysis Level I Analysis "Walk-Through Analysis Level II Analysis"Energy Survey and Analysis Level III Analysis"Detailed Analysis of Capital-Intensive Modifications The book comes with a CD that provides more than 25 guideline forms, with explanatory material, to illustrate the content and arrangement of a complete, effective energy analysis report. The CD provides these forms in both PDF and Word format, enabling you to customize and print each form. For the downloadable version, the PDF of the book and the guideline forms are included in a single .zip file. You will need WinZip or an equivalent program to open the file. Download or read book Public Procurement of Energy Efficiency Services written by Jas Singh and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2009-12-17 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current universal concerns about global energy security, competitiveness, and environmental protection make energy efficiency more important than ever. However, realizing large-scale savings has proven a significant challenge due to many barriers. 'Public Procurement of Energy Efficiency Services' looks at a largely untapped energy efficiency market the public sector. While the efficiency potential in this sector is substantial, the implementation of energy savings programs has been complicated by a number of factors, such as insufficient incentives to lower energy costs, rigid budgeting and procurement procedures, and limited access to financing. The book looks at energy savings performance contracts (ESPCs) as a means of overcoming some of these barriers. Because public facilities can outsource the full project cycle to a commercial service provider, ESPCs can enable public agencies to solicit technical solutions, mobilize commercial financing, and assign performance risk to third parties, allowing the agency to pay from a project s actual energy savings. The recommendations in this book stem from case studies that identified approaches, models, and specific solutions to ESPC procurement, including budgeting, energy audits, and bid evaluation. Such an approach also offers enormous potential to bundle, finance, and implement energy efficiency projects on a larger scale in the public sector, which can yield further economies of scale. ESPCs can also serve as an attractive element for fiscal stimulus packages and efforts by governments to 'green' their infrastructure, which can create local jobs, reduce future operating costs, and mitigate their carbon footprint. Lower energy bills, in turn, help to create fiscal space in future years to meet other critical investment priorities. Bundled public sector energy efficiency projects can help stimulate local markets for energy efficiency goods and services and 'lead by example', demonstrating good practices and providing models to the private sector.

Download or read book Energy Explained written by Vikram Janardhan and published by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers. This book was released on 2010-11-16 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Energy is truly the world's most vital commodity. It makes modern societies possible, and the decisions made regarding it have far-reaching repercussions. Every day stories about the price of oil, the resurgence of nuclear power, or the latest clean energy alternative can be found in mainstream news outlets across the country. Yet despite its high profile, energy remains largely misunderstood. People are confused, intimidated and generally discouraged from learning about energy, partly because the topic is so large and opaque, but also because the resources that do exist fail to provide an overall picture the average reader can understand. Here, in easily accessible language accompanied by simple illustrations of difficult concepts, the authors lay out the basics of energy in a palatable and refreshing way. Readers are treated to a vivid presentation of the basics of energy science, alongside the politics, economics, and social issues that impact its harnessing, distribution, and use. Anyone interested in how energy truly works will find answers in these pages that shed light on the past, present, and future of world energy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While energy efficiency projects could partly meet new energy demand more cheaply than new supplies, weak economic institutions in developing and transitional economies impede developing and financing energy efficiency retrofits. This book analyzes these difficulties, suggests a 3-part model for projectizing and financing energy efficiency retrofits, and presents thirteen case studies to illustrate the issues and principles involved.
