Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This extraordinary powerful story of Gloria's journey from darkness into light is one of hope, resilience and the unrelenting power of the human spirit to survive .It's June 1960 and in middle class suburban NZ, a child was born into sex slavery. For the first sixteen years of her life Gloria suffered horrendous sexual, physical, and psychological abuse at the hands of her father, with no one to protect her. From the underworld of her father's paedophile ring to the groups he trafficked her to, she found an inner strength and a light that shone so brightly, her mind was the one thing that could not be destroyed. Experienced through the eyes of a child, on Angels' Wings will forever highlight the way we deal with child abuse, shining a light on this darkness, and challenging us not to assume that every child is safe. One voice speaking out is all it takes to save a life.

Book A Book of Angels

Download or read book A Book of Angels written by Marigold Hunt and published by Sophia Institute Press. This book was released on 2006-09 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt:

Angel stories from the Bible — for kids

Modern believers may be tempted to look upon angels as one of the more fanciful elements of Scripture, but this illuminating and entertaining collection of angel stories from the Bible shows that there are just too many angels for them to be metaphorical, allegorical, or unimportant.

So that children will come to know and learn to revere angels, Marigold Hunt explains what angels are (and are not!) and gathers here in one volume most of the stories of angels in the Bible, including exciting tales of:

  • The fallen angels, beginning with the devil himself, tempting Adam and Eve
  • The angel who barred the gates of Eden so Adam and Eve could never enter again
  • The angels who announced that Sara, Abraham’s aged wife, would have a baby
  • The angels who tried to save Lot from destruction with the city of Sodom
  • The angel who stayed Abraham’s hand as he was about to sacrifice his son Isaac
  • The angels in Jacob’s dream who climbed the stairway to Heaven
  • The angels who saved Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago from the fiery furnace
  • The angel Raphael, who shielded Tobias from death, and protected his wife Sara
  • The angels at the Ascension who chided the apostles for staring at the sky
  • The angel Gabriel, who foretold the birth of Jesus and John the Baptist
  • The choirs of angels who sang above Bethlehem when Jesus was born
  • The angel who carried food to Daniel when he was imprisoned in the lion’s den
  • The angel who freed Peter from prison, and, of course:
  • The countless angels who fill the marvelous pages of the Book of Revelation
  • Children will be charmed by these exciting tales.

Book How the Angels Got Their Wings

Download or read book How the Angels Got Their Wings written by Anthony DeStefano and published by Sophia. This book was released on 2022-05-24 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With these charming rhyming verses, Anthony DeStefano begins this enchanting children's book on perhaps the most fascinating of all God's creatures -- the angels. How the Angels Got Their Wings is a winsome introduction to the story of the angels -- pure spiritual beings of extraordinary power made by God to assist Him in carrying out His will. Beginning with the creation of the angels and the "war in Heaven" between the good angels and the bad, this book introduces children to the famous archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael -- as well as to Satan, the ringleader of the fallen angels, who chose to rebel against God. This book also acquaints children with those special angels who are here with us right now, helping to protect and guide us -- our guardian angels. It shows children how angels can assist them with all the problems they encounter in life, from communicating with others to choosing between right and wrong, and can protect them from physical harm. How the Angels Got Their Wings is a beautifully illustrated, highly entertaining, biblically correct, and theologically orthodox introduction to angels. Once children read it, they will be forever comforted in knowing that God's love for them is so strong that He gave them not only His Son, but the angels above so they will never, ever be alone in life.

Book How the Angels Got Their Wings

Download or read book How the Angels Got Their Wings written by Kathleen E Bardsley and published by . This book was released on 2015-12-10 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have always loved the story of Creation as found in Genesis. I have often imagined what it might have been like to see the hand of our Creator inspire the Universe into being. Many cultures have a story of place like the Garden of Eden where all is beautiful and perfect. I listened to a scientist lecture a few years ago in which he said our earth is perfectly designed for human life right down to the smallest cells and molecules. He said further that the earth was not just designed to sustain us but to delight us, to make us happy. It reminded me of parents who are proud of their children and want to see them happy. So it is with our Creator Father. This book is in remembrance of my late parents, James E. L. Bardsley and my mother Elizabeth DeWitt Bardsley; both of whom loved and inspired me. In addition, it is dedicated to my sister Ann Sides, her husband Randy, and my brother James Bardsley, his wife Daneta, as well as their grandkids, Charly, Sully and Lucia (good work Cory and Antonia!). I really hope they like this book! Also my BDFF for almost 50 years, Eve Doll, who fuels my imagination, her husband John and son Trevor and daughter in law, Nurse Jessica and all their progeny yet to come- I love you all dearly. As well as my dearest companions along the way, Bill and Mary Jane, Peggy, Gay, Father Don and Big Daddy Don, you all fill my spirit. I could not close without recognizing my dear Pastor, John Janze and all the wonderful people of St. Thomas More Parish in Irvine CA. Lastly I am in awe of my most excellent illustrator, Matt Stewart. Matt, you brought my dream to life- thank you! Ah but wait, there is one more, Romeo the love cat, in how many places will you find him in this book? Kathleen(Kathy) Bardsley is a resident of Orange County CA. She is joined by her three inspirational cats, Romeo, Louie and Guinness. Bardsley is the author of "Mary's Cat" the story of the Holy Family of Jesus as told through the eyes of their cat "Fearless." Bardsley's professional experience includes over 30 years in telecommunications and leadership and organizational development. But she considers her true calling that of "Storyteller." Everyone has a story to tell, their own or another's and we can all learn from each other's story. Please enjoy this story!

Book excerpt: HOW ANGELS FLY By J. L. Montera HEAVEN ... GA 105 To allow for the presence of a guardian angel is to trust in all that cannot be seen. Belief Some Call It Others the Knowing GOD's chief seraphs, the Archangels, are given HIS CALL to assemble Guardian Angels numbers 103 through 130 and renowned in Heaven as GAs. Without delay the GAs gather and flutter about as they wait the call. Their wings create a torrent of air that causes the smallest among them to cast about as they fight to maintain their position in the flock. Hovering outside the cluster, imperfect wings and all, is GA 105. His thought is to wonder why an inept novice like himself has been included in the Call. While waiting the GAs gathered cast about in the cluster and some share heavenly announcements. GA 128 and GA 130 reveal that the life-spans of their earthborn companions had ended. At first Earth Light 128 and 130 had gathered their souls, encircled them with their fine-looking wings and returned to God's Home. GA 119 states-with conviction-"Complex! That's what it is to serve our earthbound companions when they've forgotten their childlike connection to God." GA 116 offers, "Our voice is... The storytelling and gyrating wings are instantly brought to a standstill as the richness of GOD's sacred breath quiets all thought. The instant is etched into the character of those assembled and a sacred moment passes unnoticed on earth. Still casting about to try to manage his mismatched wings and sense The Call, GA 105 tries to get control of his wings. At that very moment 105 is joined with God's Call that he is to be the guardian angel to an earthborn. Whish! Whish! GA 105 tumbles out of control and the more he corrects the worse his dilemma. Using the air current created by beautiful, elegant wings, GA 108 hovers beneath 105 until he regains control. Embarrassed, he hopes to one day learn how other GAs fly so flawlessly. To add to the mix an ancient professorial-looking angel lays his hands on 105's wings that immediately fold without thought. Professor Thistle is neither a guardian angel nor does he have wings. Regardless, he is to teach 105 how to care for a soul as the Professor has and will until the end time. GA 105's preparation is within in Heaven's Gates until deemed ready to protect the soul of the newborn child chosen by God's Call. Heaven's instructions begin. EARTH ... A BABY BOY Without awareness, GA 105 emerges in the nursery of a baby boy named Brendon. He floats above the crib for a moment before realizing he is about to topple over. Off to a bad start, 105 thought. I, the heaven-sent am protector of this earthborn for a lifetime and yet I am still a novice; in spite of what Professor Thistle promised that I am ready. The nursery door opens cutting short his worried thoughts. Grandmother Eugenia smelled apple blossoms as she stepped inside the nursery. Umm, she thought, Brendon's guardian angel must be nearby. GA 105 was so startled by her thought he started descending and pulled up just as his right wing gently touched her cheek. That night, after a full Earth day of visitors, a warm bath and swathed in a yellow baby blanket, Brendon slept. GA 105 settled in the Light of God that still shown about the baby and folded his mismatched wings... Dear Reader: This story is an invitation to discover your Heaven and Earth!
