Book How Public Schools Destroy Your Children s Lives and Careers

Download or read book How Public Schools Destroy Your Children s Lives and Careers written by Sandro Sehic and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Educating your children in the public schools does not take one minute or perhaps one day. Education is a life-long process and whether we like it or not, the fact is, it never stops. Your children will spend the most important part of their lives at the public schools and whatever they learn at those schools will impact their lives as long as they live. What really happens to your children at public schools each day? Do you think that your children are learning useful information in today's schools? If you think that your children will leave today's public schools properly prepared for real life, the answer is no, you are WRONG! Public schools have failed. Many teachers are not properly educated with the appropriate teaching certification. School administrators constantly sell lies about the "success" of their students, when in reality they are failing miserably today. Courses and exams are designed to be very simple so that they no longer test the knowledge of our children properly. The greatest portion of school budgets is spent on the salary of local school administrators. Almost everything your children learn in today's public schools is useless. Teaching positions are no longer designed for the smartest and most qualified teachers; they have become political positions that anyone can hold as long as they get approved by the school board. It's not too late to do something to turn this around! How Public Schools Destroy Your Children's Lives and Careers offers thoughts and solutions on this hot-button topic.

Book Public Schools Public Menace

Download or read book Public Schools Public Menace written by Joel Turtel and published by . This book was released on 2019-10-12 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Scary Facts Every Parent Ought to Know (But Most Don't) About Public Schools Why are public schools so bad? How do we fix them? Wrong question, says education policy analyst Joel Turtel - who believes that America's public schools are broken beyond repair. In his book, "Public Schools, Public Menace," Turtel argues that public schools, because they are government-run monopolies, cannot give our children the great education they need and deserve. Parents will learn shocking facts about public schools: * How public schools can cripple children's ability to read and their self-esteem, leaving children unprepared and vulnerable to face the world as adults. * Why children who struggle with reading are more likely to drop out of high school, end up in the criminal justice system, and live in poverty. In other words, public schools can destroy your child's life. * That parents are deceived into thinking their kids are getting a decent education, when in fact, many schools dumb-down the curriculum and requirements to graduate high school, to protect the jobs of school bureaucrats and employees. * Ways that public schools indoctrinate children with anti-parent, anti-Judeo-Christian, and anti-American values. * How public schools have become disgusting sex-education smut peddlers. * Why public schools now "encourage" parents to give their bored, alleged "troubled," "disruptive," or "ADHD" children mind-altering drugs. * How public schools hurt children's self-esteem, love of learning, and chance to get into college. * . . . and many more disturbing revelations supported by pages of facts and studies. But what can parents do? Joel Turtel gives parents a way out --- he shows them a wealth of alternative education options to give their kids a great, low-cost education WITHOUT public schools: * How parents can give their children a quality, low-cost private-school education with K-12 online private schools for an average $1600 a year tuition (much less expensive than brick-and-mortar private schools). * Over 20 ways that busy, working parents can use accredited, online K-12 private schools, and/or homeschool their kids, and have their kids love them for taking them out of public school. * Information for religious organizations to expand their outreach by creating their own Internet private schools. * Two full chapters of education resources for parents, including lists of online K-12 private schools, Internet websites for homeschool curriculum and teaching methods, parent groups to interact with other parents, general information, college-entrance help sites, and much more. Dr. Laura Schlessinger, nationally-syndicated radio talk-show host, featured "Public Schools, Public Menace" on her show. She said --- "If you are a parent wrestling with the problem of education for your children, this book is for you. . ." -- Samuel L. Blumenfeld, Syndicated columnist, and author of "Homeschooling: Parent's Guide To Teaching Children," and author of seven other books on education and public schools, said --- "Public Schools, Public Menace is a great resource for any parents who are interested in better education for their children. . ." -- Alan Bonsteel, M.D., author of "A Choice For Our Children: Curing the Crisis in America's Schools" --- "This book is a must-read for every parent. . ." About the Author --- Joel Turtel is an education policy analyst. His previous books are "Evil Socialism: How Liberal Looters Are Destroying America," and "Patriot Stories."

Book Every Child Left Behind

Download or read book Every Child Left Behind written by Abe Feinberg and published by . This book was released on 2011-12 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Public ignorance is the school administration's best friend With education on the firing line today and the intensity growing, this is a must read for people who want to see teaching improvements in their school districts. Over a period of five years, I was subjected to an alarming series of injustices at the hands of the school administration, the board of education, and the Superior Court of Alameda County. The story graphically describes an entrenched school administration's senseless attempts to destroy a teacher who refused on principle to knuckle under at the expense of his students. Briefly stated, I was conspired against, lied about, and made the subject of intolerant actions. My repeated pleas and demands for help, counsel, and redress of grievances were evaded, ignored, and openly refused. In rapid succession I was illegally transferred to a position I was unprepared for, illegally fired, and then in superior court treated to a devastating travesty of the judicial process by a judge who clearly should have been removed from the bench. During the two-year appeal process I was unable to get another job -the school district saw to it that I was blackballed in education. In short my reputation was ruined, as in all likelihood was my teaching career. The board also tried to suppress the town's uprising to reinstate me to my former teaching position. All this happened when I began an individualized teaching process, which was met with resistance by the principal. The more successful I became, the more the district fought it. When I spoke out for educational improvements and wrote a newspaper column espousing the importance of upgrading teaching, the ship hit the sand. But changing teaching methods was only a part of what was to come. Soon the town was in the middle of gross mismanagement, embezzling, the misuse of hundreds of thousands of dollars of school district funds, and a school board trying to cover it up. There is more than ample documentation, including letters, news stories, sworn affidavits, and most damning of all, the trial transcript. The board and the administration broke State Law in their mindless vendetta to fire this teacher -the students be damned. To attest to the widespread mismanagement in school districts, I have included accounts of school problems nationally, and a well-documented account of the distressed Oakland, California, schools and the mis-education that continues to occur in Oakland. With news accounts appearing daily, weekly, and monthly, this story was the biggest 5-year story in the Livermore valley.

Book excerpt: "Our public schools are in danger of collapse, and if they do, we will all pay the price "Healthy public schools are essential for a healthy economy and creating informed citizens. But we are neglecting our schools in a perversely malicious way: making impossible demands on them, strangling them financially, creating trivial changes for the sake of ideology, avoiding necessary changes, and just plain ignoring them. In this forcefully argued and convincing book, education expert Charles Ungerleider makes our situation plain. Canadians have never placed a higher value on education, but if we do not do something about public schools now, we may lose the benefits that they provide and miss the opportunity to fix them. Drawing on the latest research and using examples from across the country, Ungerleider describes what's right and what's wrong about our public schools system and provides solutions for making them a lot better. He looks at the conflict between "traditional" and "progressive" approaches to education. He argues that the public school curriculum has become bloated, fragmented, and mired in trivia. He examines the effects of the changing family and the influence on children of television, the Internet, video games, and their peers. He discusses the work of teachers and teachers' unions, the changes in public school finance and governance, and the issue of accountability. And he takes on the issue of school choice and competition, where, more than anywhere else, rhetoric prevails over reason.

Book They Won t Let Me Teach

Download or read book They Won t Let Me Teach written by Don Harris and published by Don Harris. This book was released on 2008-03 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: They Won’t Let Me Teach is an insider’s look at the effect of the federal and state intrusion into the public school classroom and what it is doing to the lives of both classroom teachers and to those of their students. Why, after thirty-six years in education, did this teacher leave his career and the teaching he loved? The book begins with his early childhood and the seventeen years he spent as a student that led him on his journey to become a teacher. Completing his last year in the classroom in 2005, he surveyed other teachers. What these teachers had to say was insightful and disturbing. Along with other insights into our current society and culture, the book provides a great deal of food for thought. If you have children, grandchildren or just care about where America is headed, this book is a must-read.

Book All American Boys

Download or read book All American Boys written by Jason Reynolds and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A 2016 Coretta Scott King Author Honor book, and recipient of the Walter Dean Myers Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature. In this New York Times bestselling novel, two teens—one black, one white—grapple with the repercussions of a single violent act that leaves their school, their community, and, ultimately, the country bitterly divided by racial tension. A bag of chips. That’s all sixteen-year-old Rashad is looking for at the corner bodega. What he finds instead is a fist-happy cop, Paul Galluzzo, who mistakes Rashad for a shoplifter, mistakes Rashad’s pleadings that he’s stolen nothing for belligerence, mistakes Rashad’s resistance to leave the bodega as resisting arrest, mistakes Rashad’s every flinch at every punch the cop throws as further resistance and refusal to STAY STILL as ordered. But how can you stay still when someone is pounding your face into the concrete pavement? There were witnesses: Quinn Collins—a varsity basketball player and Rashad’s classmate who has been raised by Paul since his own father died in Afghanistan—and a video camera. Soon the beating is all over the news and Paul is getting threatened with accusations of prejudice and racial brutality. Quinn refuses to believe that the man who has basically been his savior could possibly be guilty. But then Rashad is absent. And absent again. And again. And the basketball team—half of whom are Rashad’s best friends—start to take sides. As does the school. And the town. Simmering tensions threaten to explode as Rashad and Quinn are forced to face decisions and consequences they had never considered before. Written in tandem by two award-winning authors, this four-starred reviewed tour de force shares the alternating perspectives of Rashad and Quinn as the complications from that single violent moment, the type taken directly from today’s headlines, unfold and reverberate to highlight an unwelcome truth.

Download or read book Waiting for Superman written by Karl Weber and published by ReadHowYouWant.com. This book was released on 2010-10-25 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The American public education system is in crisis. Millions of students attend """"failure factories"""" that produce more drop-outs than graduates; millions more attend """"nice"""" schools that mask mediocre achievement. The U.S.'s reading and math scores stagnate and even fall behind, while other countries continue to advance. But many are working to reinvent this system. The film Waiting for Superman, directed by An Inconvenient Truth's Davis Guggenheim, chronicles these efforts through the interlocking stories of a handful of students and families searching for alternatives, and of reformers proving that all kids can learn. Expanding on the film's arguments, the book Waiting for Superman explores politically charged topics through a series of essays by thinkers at the leading edge of educational innovation. It shows how failing schools destroy neighborhoods - not the reverse - and how research reveals that dedicated, attentive teachers are what help at-risk kids succeed. With candor, poignancy, and hope, this book encourages those inspired by the film to join the battle to save American education and our children's future.
