Book Cancer Saved My Life

Download or read book Cancer Saved My Life written by Lois W. Berry and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-11-13 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of my desire to share what I learned from the experience of surviving breast cancer that metastasized to the bone. The changes I made in my life as the result of this illness have led to a happier, healthier and more productive life in so many ways. I have attained an inner peace that I never had before. I made lifestyle changes such as diet, but more importantly I learned how to deal with stress and my spiritual life continues to grow. I can truly say that cancer enriched my life. Over the years, I have counseled with many patients as they struggle with this dreaded disease. My hope is that by putting my thoughts in book form it will be helpful to a wider audience. All of us need help on our journey through life. It can be one of anger, bitterness, despair and self-pity or it can be a life of joy, forgiveness, of reaching out to others with love, and gratitude for our blessings.

Book When God Cancer Meet

Download or read book When God Cancer Meet written by Lynn Eib and published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2002 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book of powerful stories about cancer patients and their families who have been touched by God in miraculous ways—some in their bodies, others in their minds, all in their spirits—offers inspiring testimony that, when God and cancer meet, cancer is conquered. The author, herself a cancer survivor, gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse of 18 personal encounters with God. Here's what others are saying about When God & Cancer Meet: “Lynn has captured the essence of hope in this book; captured hope in ways that I have always taught in my professional world as well as in my spiritual community. This book is a treasure to those who struggle with the fears of cancer and I want to keep it close at hand for those reasons.” —Judy Lentz, RN, MSN, OCN, NHA Executive Director, Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association “I co-lead a cancer support group at my church, and we have been looking for “just the right book” to study and discuss. Guess what?! Lyn wrote it! I was truly touched by all the stories; of course being a cancer-survivor myself, I saw myself in one of the stories, as if Lyn were writing my own personal story. I was truly impressed with the way she incorporated scripture, and God's viewpoint into every story. I think that is of utmost importance for anyone facing this disease. Lyn's book is “Real-Life”; some quickly are healed of the cancer, some deal with it over a prolonged period, some deal with recurrences, some, mercifully, die rather quickly. I share Lyn's belief that GOD sometimes chooses to heal in different ways: physically, emotionally and spiritually. In the process of surviving a primary brain tumor, surgery, Chemo, and radiation, I gave my life to Christ, realizing that my physical health was not GOD's main concern, my Spiritual health was the biggest victim of a disease that needed attention and this was the way He FINALLY got my attention. Lyn's book alludes to this fact in every one of her stories. In this day and age that we are living, where it is against the rules to even mention GOD ( unless we mention His name in vain) it is refreshing to have a book written, praising Him for His care and concern for us; written by a woman who has experienced the disease firsthand, and continues to minister to others with cancer, and to work for a Doctor! who isn't ashamed of his Faith ! WOW!! Obviously, Lyn's book has my highest reccomendation, and my support group will be purchasing multple copies, and we plan to invite Lyn to speak with us. Lyn is a wonderful person, and I thank God for allowing our paths to cross. I'm sure this book will touch many lives, and give many a new perspective and hope with their cancer.” —Chris Winand, cancer survivor

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We tend to use words like miracle and mystery in the context of serendipity. In this frank and eloquent account of life transformed by cancer, Deanna Thompson explores these articles of faith as they are also wont to appear--on the hard edges of hope and the dark side of joy. --Krista Tippett, from the ForewordHoping for More is a story of a young religion professor with a stage IV cancer diagnosis and a lousy prognosis for the future. Amid the grief and the grace of her fractured life, this theologian--who is also a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend--searches for words adequate to express her faltering faith. More Anne Lamott meets Harold Kushner than the teller of a pious, God-saved-me-from-cancer tale, Thompson unpacks the messy realities that arise when faith and suffering collide. Told in shimmering prose, Hoping for More takes readers on an unsentimental journey through the valley of the shadow of cancer--beyond the predictable parameters of prayer, the church, even belief in life after death. What emerges is a novel approach to talking faith and accepting grace when hope is all you've got.

Download or read book Perhaps You Misheard My Prayer written by Vicky Kaseorg and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-02-04 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We don't always get to choose the path we walk in life. I sure would not have chosen cancer to celebrate my 60th year, but God had other plans. Sure I trusted God to lead me...but through the valley of the shadow of death? Wasn't there a different route? I expected the despair of cancer, but what took me by surprise was the laughter and even joy in the midst of it. While I would not have minded learning these things without sacrificing a breast, no one consulted me. This is my story of following and trusting God, no matter what. A book about cancer may sound depressing, but honestly, this is a funny book. In fact, when I look back on the year of this little detour in life, I don't remember the horror. I remember God with me and inexplicable peace and blessing during some pretty rough times. This is my offering of hope and encouragement no matter what trial you are facing. As I compiled my cancer book which is in journal form, I realized many of my entries included parallel stories of my work counseling abortion-minded women. As they were so callously throwing life away, I was trying desperately to save my own. The Biblical counsel to both of us was the same. This book is a tribute to the sacred value of life. Quote from book: I watched my phone click off the mileage, and as soon as it hit 6.2 miles, the distance of a 10k, I clicked finish on "Map My Run." The last two miles I averaged below 7:30/mile. I did it. I don't know what reserve all that speed came out of, but it showed me something I needed to see. We defeat ourselves. We are almost always capable of doing more than we believe we are capable of doing. Similarly, we defeat God's work in our lives. Our vision of God is rarely too big...it is usually too small. Can God handle even this cancer? Of course He can. Can He empower me to handle it? Is God big enough for even this? You may not be facing cancer, but I bet you have asked this of God at some point in your life about some overwhelming obstacle. If you haven't, you probably will. My prayer is this book will be useful to you in those dark moments when you only see the smallest pinprick of light.

Book Fighting the Good Fight

Download or read book Fighting the Good Fight written by Curt Lindner and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fighting the Good Fight is a journey of faith, love, and happiness, all centered around a life-and-death struggle for three members of my family who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Starting in 2007 and ending in 2012, life for our family was to see drastic changes, as everyday life had to take a back seat to the daily struggles for survival. I watched my family pull together and do whatever was needed to provide the necessary care for our cancer patients. In 2007, fate was about to deal us a card that would watch my angel walk with God on one side and death on the other. Ida was up to the task. She was ready to fight the good fight, as she would endure more than three hundred chemotherapy treatments in a five-year period. During the interim, my son-in-law's father, and then my son-in-law, would deal with terminal cancer.

Download or read book A Walk with God written by David C Fuller and published by Olive Press Publisher. This book was released on 2021-06-06 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CANCER - The mere mention of this word invokes fear or dread. Most would not include the words adventure, joy, peace, or gratitude to describe their emotional reaction. This book is about a journey "through" cancer and the experiences encountered. There are: times of confusion and times of clarity times of pain and times of comfort feelings of helplessness and those of being blessed The author says, "All through the journey, I have been guided by God's whispers keeping me grounded in the knowledge that He desires full and complete recovery in my life and yours." This is a journey of joy and frustration which will hopefully bring you peace, increase your faith, and give you a different perspective and attitude as you get this glimpse into how cancer effects a person's life. The author has been blessed with a positive attitude along with an unconventional sense of humor. These two things, along with his unshakable faith, enabled him to traverse the pitfalls that come so that healing could be possible. Join him on this journey. He says to you as God said to him in the beginning, "Let's go for a walk together." Endorsements: Dave's honest, practical and inspiring journey proves there is an optimism that is more than merely human. I am tempted to re-title it, FULLER FAITH (pun intended). It brought back warm memories of when he and Marilyn lovingly sat alongside me in a waiting room while my wife was in extensive surgery for a metastasized cancer. Their compassion for people is genuine and enduring. Romans 15:13 says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Dave's life and words are an uplifting answer to that ancient prayer. Mike Weber, friend and pastor Dave's unique and vivid retelling from cancer diagnosis to "survivor" is both warm and inspiring! A gifted story teller, Dave walks the reader through the undulating emotional journey he faced-and we face-as cancer patients. Through it all Dave's story is a reminder that anything is possible-even in the most difficult of times and through the most difficult of circumstances-with faith and courage. Highly recommend.
