Kooi poses questions challenging the notion of responsibility for spaces surrounding bus stop locations and criticizes the lack of planning for placement of bus stops in relation to spatial crime impact. He offers solutions for addressing these issues.

Based on a 16-year longitudinal study of crime in Seattle, Washington, the book focuses our attention on small units of geographic analysis-micro communities, defined as street segments.
