Download or read book Hope s Journey to Salvation written by Amy Johnson and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adrift in the world without a family or a home, Hope happens across the town of Salvation on her escape from past disappointments. She finds it a charming town with inhabitants whose generosity stems from an inner source. Michael, a compassionate lawyer, offers her a job, and Faith, the owner of a bed and breakfast, provides her with a home. And then she meets Jake, a widowed father of a young son who welcomes her and allows her to openly share for the first time about her abusive childhood. Amy Johnson weaves a tender story of new possibilities in Hope's Journey to Salvation as Hope confronts her demons and embraces the potential of a joyful future. Jake tenderly offers forgiveness of shameful mistakes, and Hope encounters a loving God. Hope seeks to reconcile the cruelty she's encountered with the love her new friends proclaim God holds. Can Hope accept the love she is offered, or will past hurts be too much to overcome?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is perhaps one of the most misunderstood works of Catholic theology of our time. Critics contend that von Balthasar espouses universalism, the idea that all men will certainly be saved. Yet, as von Balthasar insists, damnation is a real possibility for anyone. Indeed, he explores the nature of damnation with sobering clarity. At the same time, he contends that a deep understanding of God’s merciful love and human freedom, and a careful reading of the Catholic tradition, point to the possibility—not the certainty—that, in the end, all men will accept the salvation Christ won for all. For this all-embracing salvation, von Balthasar says, we may dare hope, we must pray and with God’s help we must work. The Catholic Church’s teaching on hell has been generally neglected by theologians, with the notable exception of von Balthasar. He grounds his reflections clearly in Sacred Scripture and Catholic teaching. While the Church asserts that certain individuals are in heaven (the saints), she never declares a specific individual to be in hell. In fact, the Church hopes that in their final moments of life, even the greatest sinners would have repented of their terrible sins, and be saved. Sacred Scripture states, “God ... desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all” (1 Tim 2:4–5).

Book The Hope of Salvation

Download or read book The Hope of Salvation written by Harding Hedgpeth and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-04 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, many churches teach that once a person believes and trusts in Jesus Christ, their Salvation is assured. They can know with certainty that they will go to heaven.no matter what. The churches further teach that the individual has no part to play in their salvation. God does it all. These teachings are not Biblical. The Bible teaches that no person can know their ultimate destiny. The best one can do is to live a life of demonstrated faith and hope they will make it to heaven. Indeed, a person does have a part to play in their destiny, and by their choices they can stay on the pathway that leads to salvation or they can depart from it. This book clarifies the Biblical path to Salvation, articulates a Biblical argument that refutes the 'assurance of salvation' doctrine and reveals the spiritual dangers that are produced by this teaching. Harding Hedgpeth is a professional test pilot and the holder of 9 aviation world records set in the B-1 Bomber. He has no formal theological training. He does not belong to any formal church. As he characterizes himself, he is a disciple of Jesus Christ, cleverly disguised as a test pilot. Harding was raised as a Presbyterian, married a Catholic and didn't realize that the Bible was God's truth until 1987 when he was 40 years old. He has immersed himself in the study of God's Word ever since. The study of God's Word led him to realize that today's churches are leading their parishioners astray in some important areas. One of those areas is the doctrine of 'the assurance of salvation.' Accordingly, Harding felt a strong compulsion to write this book. Though a relatively short book, it has taken four years to research and one year to write.

Why does God allow suffering? And why does God seem to go silent when we're in pain? In Hope When Life Unravels, Dr. Adam Dooley, pastor and host of the daily radio broadcast A Better Way, searches for answers to our biggest questions about suffering as he shares his son Carson's story of battling leukemia. Adam speaks openly about the gut-wrenching struggle his family endured for three years of life-threatening illness and how God met them in their hours of need--even when it wasn't in the ways they wanted. And, along with his own story, Adam takes readers through the story of Job, unpacking insights about God's character, his love, and how we can stay connected to him even during seasons of pain. Both inspiring and comforting, Hope When Life Unravels invites us to draw closer to a God who is often active in our lives in times when we have trouble seeing him the most.

This 30-day devotional in the Food for the Journey series shows us that Christian hope, by contrast, is guaranteed and eternal, dealing with certainties: Christ's death for us, his forgiveness of sin and our hope of heaven when we die. Covering passages from Matthew, 1 Peter, Romans, 2 Corinthians, 1 Thessalonians and Revelation, in this devotional some of the Keswick Convention's most beloved preachers - including Don Carson, Ray Ortlund and Jonathan Lamb - unpack the Bible's teaching on hope. In self-contained daily devotions they show us how we can enjoy the pleasures of earth knowing that they point to the far greater delights we'll experience one day in God's presence. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ARE YOU AWARE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STATEMENT EVER MADE? "YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN" Why? Because without it you have no hope of enjoying the glories of heaven and escaping the horrors of hell. Are YOU born again? Jesus said "Ye must be born again." John 3: 7 "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3 A very interesting event took place while Jesus walked the earth, many of the religious leaders of his day did not believe or receive him but there were some who due to fear of what people will say though they believed, they did not show publicly what they thought about him then in John chapter 3, one of them came to enquire at night about the kingdom Jesus was talking about. He was curious as to how one can be a part of the kingdom and Jesus said in verse three. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" John 3:3 "Jesus answered him, I assure you most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.' AMP The man must have looked at Jesus to confirm if he was in his right senses for he wondered how an adult would enter into his mother's stomach and be born again and Jesus told him "Except a man be born of the water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." so we can see that this goes beyond physical birth, this is the work of the spirit of Christ. Many of us who were born into Christian homes automatically believe we are born again or part of the house hold of faith, God forbid that at the end, Jesus tells us to depart because he does not know us. Being part of a Christian home or being part of a church does not equal being born again. You may know a lot about Jesus and God of the Christians, you may even know some verses in the bible and be able to quote them well, you may be able to say a thing or two about Jesus but then do you know him personally. You may say you know the president of your country, you might be able to say a lot of things about him but then the level of knowledge you have cannot be compared to what his wife will say. The wife knows him better, she sleeps with him and shares intimacy with him, and he will tell her things he is too careful not to tell the world, she knows his strengths and his fears. She knows when he is pretending to be okay and smiling when he is dying in silence. Now that is a level, and God desires that, intimacy with God and a relationship with him is the end to which Christ died so that when you die you can share eternity with him in heaven. So it's not about knowing about Jesus, it is about Jesus knowing you. Do you want to make heaven and be part of the kingdom Jesus talked about? Then you must be born again for that is the access, the key to the kingdom that is what entitles you to all that pertains to life and godliness. The son of a prince does not beg for the throne, he knows the throne is his by birth, same thing goes, we are the King's kid and because we are born of God, we have all He has. "But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." John 1:12 So the power we have to be called sons is imparted at new birth, when we receive him into our life. Are you curious to know what this new birth is? Let's continue the ride through the pages of this book.

Book excerpt: For years Christians have been asking, "If you died tonight, do you know where you would go?" It turns out that many believers have been giving the wrong answer. It is not heaven. Award-winning author N. T. Wright outlines the present confusion about a Christian's future hope and shows how it is deeply intertwined with how we live today. Wright, who is one of today's premier Bible scholars, asserts that Christianity's most distinctive idea is bodily resurrection. He provides a magisterial defense for a literal resurrection of Jesus and shows how this became the cornerstone for the Christian community's hope in the bodily resurrection of all people at the end of the age. Wright then explores our expectation of "new heavens and a new earth," revealing what happens to the dead until then and what will happen with the "second coming" of Jesus. For many, including many Christians, all this will come as a great surprise. Wright convincingly argues that what we believe about life after death directly affects what we believe about life before death. For if God intends to renew the whole creation—and if this has already begun in Jesus's resurrection—the church cannot stop at "saving souls" but must anticipate the eventual renewal by working for God's kingdom in the wider world, bringing healing and hope in the present life. Lively and accessible, this book will surprise and excite all who are interested in the meaning of life, not only after death but before it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The greatest blessing in my life has been my journey to Jesus. It has greatly built my faith, hope, courage, understanding, and will to please God in all my ways. Romans 8:28 says, \"And we know that all things work together for the good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose. The trials and tribulations that I\'ve been through have been many, but the blessings from God have been more. God has pulled me out of situations where I have been on the brink of death several times. Some or all of those times He sent angels to protect me. Many times in prayer I asked God to help me to help myself so I can help others. He\'s given me the gift of faith and healing as a result. But as it is written, \"Eye has not seen nor ear heard, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.-1 Corinthians 2:9. This book I have written, Journey To Jesus, is to inspire and encourage others in the ways of the Lord. Should I blame Him for sending the hail in the rain? Or placing the thorns with the roses? He is hope in the valley when I\'m at my end. He\'s more than a man. I find no fault in Him. On my journey to Jesus I woke up one morning to quickly write down the words of a song that God gave me in a dream. The first verse and chorus says, \"There\'s a better day ahead, a better world we\'ll see. People everywhere are friends, there\'s peace and harmony. Someday, someday very soon. No pain, no tears, no troubles or fears. For the children of The King, when Jesus comes again. Someday very soon.\" The other two verses to this song are in this book, Journey To Jesus.

Its an in depth journey through the Holy Scriptures of the bible to guide you through Gods pathway of salvation which he has provided for human life on this earth. In the world of today, there are some many avenues and paths to choose in life. God has given man the freedom to choose his own destiny, but in that freedom he has asked that we choose wisely making right choices. What is the right choice in life? This book is here to help answer that question. The bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; therefore, having godly fear is the first wise path that anyone can choose. Why is it wise to fear God? It is wise because once we begin to give God his due respect as the creator of life, is where we begin our journey toward discovering every other right and wise pathway life has to offer, which leads to true salvation and in the end eternal life. This book is a journey through the Holy Scriptures of the bible in finding that right path to help clear up the fog in the minds of so many looking to know and understand what is true and what is right. God has already laid the foundation by the scriptures that we may have the tools and the ability to build a life of success according to the Master who created this great world in which we live; and who knows best. If you have a true desire to understand the scriptures and want to know what God can do in your life; if you are confused about the bible and religion but hope to find the pathway leading to true salvation; then read this book. Is is here to give good education on biblical truths. Download or read book Saved in Hope written by Pope Benedict XVI and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2009-09-03 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pope Benedict XVI's second encyclical, Saved In Hope, ("Spe Salvi" in Latin) takes its title from St. Paul, who wrote, "In hope we have been saved". In this special deluxe hardcover edition of the work, the Holy Father continues a line of thought he began with his first encyclical, God is Love. Love and Hope are closely related in the spiritual life. Love of God involves hope or trust in God. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "The virtue of hope responds to the aspiration to happiness which God has placed in the heart of every man". Hope enables us to look to the next life, but it also inspires and purifies our actions in this life. Pope Benedict considers modern philosophies and the challenges of faith today in light of the virtue of hope. "Confronted by today's changing and complex panorama, the virtue of hope is subject to harsh trials in the community of believers. For this very reason, we must be apostles who are filled with hope and joyful trust in God's promises. In contemporary society, which shows such visible signs of secularism, we must not give in to despair." — Pope Benedict XVI

Book excerpt: New York Times bestseller How do you hold on to hope when you don’t get the ending you asked for? When Katie Davis Majors moved to Uganda, accidentally founded a booming organization, and later became the mother of thirteen girls through the miracle of adoption, she determined to weave her life together with the people she desired to serve. But joy often gave way to sorrow as she invested her heart fully in walking alongside people in the grip of poverty, addiction, desperation, and disease. After unexpected tragedy shook her family, for the first time Katie began to wonder, Is God really good? Does He really love us? When she turned to Him with her questions, God spoke truth to her heart and drew her even deeper into relationship with Him. Daring to Hope is an invitation to cling to the God of the impossible—the God who whispers His love to us in the quiet, in the mundane, when our prayers are not answered the way we want or the miracle doesn’t come. It’s about a mother discovering the extraordinary strength it takes to be ordinary. It’s about choosing faith no matter the circumstance and about encountering God’s goodness in the least expected places. Though your heartaches and dreams may take a different shape, you will find your own questions echoed in these pages. You’ll be reminded of the gifts of joy in the midst of sorrow. And you’ll hear God’s whisper: Hold on to hope. I will meet you here.
