Can Cesco overcome both his injuries and his loss of confidence or will his feelings of fear that are coming hard on the heels of another, unexpected feeling, cause him to freeze and fail those he cares for. As Jessie struggles to be the stabilizing force as the emotions of her friends swirl and spin out of control, will it become too much for her to handle? When faced with a victim of someone who has powers just like her, will the reminders of her own dark decisions push her forward into a new light or backward into her own pain. The heart pounding conclusion to the Honor Bound Series will keep you on the edge of your seat. It will make you cry, both in happiness and horror and you will both love and hate the author, but in the end you will savor every minute of it, and want to read it again.

Book excerpt: The inspiring story of the first female Marine to fly a combat mission in an F/A-18—and the transformative events that led to her bold decision to take on the most powerful man in the U.S. Senate. Amy McGrath grew up in Edgewood, Kentucky, a childhood shaped by love of country, baseball (the Cincinnati Reds), and, from the age of twelve, a fascination with fighter jets. Her devastation at learning that a federal law prohibited women from flying in combat fueled her determination to do just that--and then, to help change the laws to improve the lives of all Americans. McGrath writes of gaining an appointment in high school to the U.S. Naval Academy, making it through Marine Corps training, graduating from Annapolis, Maryland, becoming a Second Lieutenant, and raising her right hand to swear to defend the U.S. Constitution, honor bound. She vividly recounts her experiences flying in the Marines, and her combat deployments to Iraq (Kuwait) and Afghanistan, her work as an Air Combat Tactics instructor—and what it was like to finally fly that fighter jet: high-speed, intense, and physically demanding. Here is McGrath, training to do the most intense tactical flying there is (think the Navy's TOPGUN ); meeting the man who would become her husband; being promoted to major and then lieutenant colonel; marrying, having three children, a career and life in Washington and then moving her family back to Kentucky to begin a whole new chapter in politics; her roller-coaster congressional campaign (she lost by three percentage points); and making the tough decision to run again, in an even bigger, higher-stakes national campaign, against the five-term leader of the U.S. Senate, Mitch McConnell. A moving, inspiring American story of courage, determination, and large dreams.

"Honor Bound - Awakenings" follows six young adults who are righting the wrongs being done in the world. I was caught up in the emotions and feelings of the characters. Kat Loveland has written an incredible story by painting a visible picture of the action. She has a flair with words. AND this is only book #1. I am holding my breath until I can read the next installment. Be ready to stay up all night to finish it. I felt I like I was in the story; my heart was racing; lots of action. Kudos to you, Kat, a great read. 5 Star Review of Awakenings; Honor Bound is an Urban Paranormal Action Novel Series that follows the journey of six young adults with abilities such as empathy, telepathy, control of fire and some much more complex powers as they delve farther and farther into a criminal element that is kidnapping children and teens with similar abilities and selling them on the black market. Sarah, twins John and Clara, Cesco, Min-Ji and Jessie are very diverse characters, ranging in age from 16-28 and various social and cultural backgrounds. Book excerpt: The story of American prisoners of war in Southeast Asia has never been fully told despite numerous popular accounts, personal memoirs, and official reports that have appeared over the years since the prisoners' release in 1973. Now, twenty-five years after Operation Homecoming, comes the first attempt at a comprehensive, objective, documented history of their experience that seeks to separate fact from fiction and to portray the full scope of the captivity from the perspective of both captive and captor. Honor Bound, a collaborative effort researched and written over the course of more than a decade by historian Stuart Rochester and Air Force Academy professor and POW specialist Frederick Kiley, combines rigorous scholarly analysis with a moving narrative to record in unprecedented detail the triumphs and tragedies of the several hundred servicemen (and civilians) who fought their own special war in North and South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia between 1961 and 1973. The authors address a gamut of subjects from the physical ordeal of torture and deprivation that required clarification of the Code of Conduct to the sometimes more onerous psychological challenges of indoctrination, adjustments to new routines and relationships, and mere coping and passing time under the most monotonous, inhospitable conditions. The volume weaves a winding trail through scores of prison camps, from large concrete compounds in the North to isolated jungle stockades in the South to mountain caves in Laos, while tracing political developments in Hanoi and Washington and the evolution of the "psywar" that placed the prisoners at the center of the conflict even as they were removed from the battlefield. From courageous resistance and ingenious methods of organization and communication to failed escapes and questionable conduct---"warts and all"---Honor Bound examines in depth the longest and perhaps most remarkable prisoner-of-war captivity in U.S. history. Stuart I. Rochester holds a Ph.D, in history from the University of Virginia and taught at Loyola College in Baltimore before joining the Historical Office of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he is presently Deputy Historian. He is the author of Takeoff at Mid-Century: Federal Civil Aviation Policy in the Eisenhower Years, 1953-1961 and American Liberal Disillusionment in the Wake of World War I. Frederick Kiley earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of Denver. A retired Air Force colonel, he was a professor of English at the Air Force Academy prior to serving in Vietnam as an adviser to the Vietnam Air Force. He is a leading authority on prisoners of war and the author of Satire from Aesop to Buchwald and A Catch-22 Casebook. From 1984 to 1997 he was Director of the National Defense University Press and headed the NDU Research Fellows Program.
