Download or read book Optical Holography written by Robert Collier and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-06-11 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical Holography deals with the use of optical holography to solve technical problems, with emphasis on the properties of holograms formed with visible light. Topics covered include the Fourier transform, propagation and diffraction, pulsed-laser holography, and optical systems with spherical lenses. A geometric analysis of point-source holograms is also presented, and holograms and hologram spatial filters formed with spatially modulated reference waves are described. This book is comprised of 20 chapters and begins with an introduction to concepts that are basic to understanding holography, from interference patterns and diffraction to hologram formation, basic holography equations, and partial coherence. The next chapter focuses on early developments in holography, paying particular attention to Bragg's X-ray microscope, X-ray holography, and the beginnings of optical holography. The discussion then turns to light sources for hologram formation; analysis of plane holograms; diffraction from volume holograms; and real-image applications of holographic methods. The remaining chapters explore holographic interferometry, color holography, and computer-generated holograms. The final chapter deals with hologram replication, television transmission of holograms, and formation of holograms using spatially incoherent subject light. This monograph will be a useful resource for electron microscopists, electrical engineers, opticists, physicists, chemists, and others interested in optical holography.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Optical Holography is composed of 10 chapters that readers can turn to for specific questions regarding holography. This book begins by elucidating the classification of holograms, major types of holograms, and variations. The text then explains the image formation, cardinal points and principal rays for holography, equipment, and procedures. This book also tackles special problems and application areas of this technology. This text will be valuable to people who want to apply holography—whether to industry, government, health services, education, or research.

Book Computer Generation of Coherent Optical Filters with High Light Efficiency and Large Dynamic Range

Download or read book Computer Generation of Coherent Optical Filters with High Light Efficiency and Large Dynamic Range written by Stanford University. Stanford Electronics Laboratories and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two new techniques for making computer generated spatial filters with high dynamic range and high light efficiency are described, and a general treatment of computer generated holograms is given. Examples of single-channel (continuous phase control) phase-only filters, binary phase-only filters, as well as the absorption-type filters have been realized experimentally. Experiments have been carried out for correcting blurred images and for character recognition. Finally, a ternary hologram (binary absorption and binary phase), which preserves advantages of both types of binary holograms but is capable of a higher dynamic range than either individually, has been realized experimentally using color film. Book Holography

    Book Details:
  • Author : M Francon
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2012-12-02
  • ISBN : 0323160913
  • Pages : 156 pages

Download or read book Holography written by M Francon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Holography reviews advances in the field of holography and its various applications in areas such as interferometry, microscopy, and acoustics. Topics range from acoustic holography to image multiplexing, formation of images in holography, and holography by computer. Some experiments based on Gabor's holography are also presented. This book is comprised of five chapters and begins with an overview of the fundamentals of holography, with particular reference to spatial and temporal coherence, diffraction at finite and infinite distances, and filtering of spatial frequencies. The reader is then introduced to the principles and applications of holography, focusing on the geometric optics and aberrations of holograms as well as interferometry and microscopy. The following chapters explore how images are produced and reconstructed using a hologram and explain how to detect the differences between two images. Three main types of synthetic holograms are also considered: binary holograms, holograms with several intensity levels, and the holograms called kinoforms. The last chapter is devoted to optical filtering and pattern recognition. This monograph will be of value to physicists and researchers as well as to those interested in how holography works.

Book Holography and Coherent Optics

Download or read book Holography and Coherent Optics written by L. M. Soroko and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 831 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now that holography has matured (wIth Dennis Gabor having received the Nobel Prize In 1971) and that coherent optics has proved to be even more powerful than originally imagined, in open ing the new field of "optical computing," it is particularlyappropri ate to make available to English-speaking readers the translation of a uniquely outstanding text which presents the general and per manent foundations of the field. L. M. Soroko's book has proved its usefulness, since It ap peared in Russian In 1971, following the basic pattern set in the world's first monograph In the field, "An Introduction to Coherent Optics and Holography," written by G. w. Stroke in 1966, and since also available in Its second US edition (1969) from Academic Press, following the publication of its Russian edition by Mlr In 1967. To further enhance the usefulness of L. M. Soroko's book, and to assure that Its fundamental nature be completely updated, the Translation Editor, In agreement with the author, felt that this could best be assured by including an "updating appendix" In the form of three recent papers In the general field of "opto-dlgltal holographic Image processing and 3-D reconstructions," especially -also since their bibliographies Include numerous further refer ences to a great many authors and workers throughout the world.
