Book Evaluation Maintenance and Upgrading of Wood Structures

Download or read book Evaluation Maintenance and Upgrading of Wood Structures written by Alan D'Yarmett Freas and published by ASCE Publications. This book was released on 1982-01-01 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prepared by the Subcommittee on Evaluation, Maintenance, and Upgrading of Timber Structures of the Committee on Wood of the Structural Division of ASCE. This report presents information on technical aspects of inspection, evaluation, reinforcement, repair, and rehabilitation of timber structures. Any structure, regardless of the material from which it is made, may be subject to a review of its ability to perform a specific function or functions. This report reviews factors that influence the serviceability of wood structures, including loadings, duration of loads, temperature, moisture and weathering. Effects of chemicals and fire, as well as insects, fungi, and other organisms that attack wood are also covered. Designing to avoid problems caused by these factors is discussed. Inspection techniques and equipment are described, along with guidelines on where to look and what to look for. A section of evaluation of wood structures includes criteria such as structural analysis, determination of loads, and estimating load carrying capacity.

Book Structural Investigation of Historic Buildings

Download or read book Structural Investigation of Historic Buildings written by David C. Fischetti and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-02-09 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Structural Investigation of Historic Buildings: A Case Study Guide to Preservation Technology for Buildings, Bridges, Towers, and Mills provides a practical guide for consulting structural engineers and others on dealing with issues unique to historic structures. Emphasizing structural evaluation and condition assessment based on sound preservation philosophy, but without burdening the reader with tedious calculations, the book discusses the role of the structural engineer in the evaluation and preservation process and discusses such topics as structural safety, analysis, and conservation."--Publisher's website.

Book Conservation of Historic Timber Structures

Download or read book Conservation of Historic Timber Structures written by Knut Einar Larsen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2000 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive approach to the preservation of historic timber structures. The authors demonstrate that repair methods must be geared towards the specific cultural, architectural and environmental conditions of the area where the timber structure is located.

Book Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions Anamnesis Diagnosis Therapy Controls

Download or read book Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions Anamnesis Diagnosis Therapy Controls written by Koen Van Balen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-11-03 with total page 2968 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions. Anamnesis, diagnosis, therapy, controls contains the papers presented at the 10th International Conference on Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions (SAHC2016, Leuven, Belgium, 13-15 September 2016). The main theme of the book is “Anamnesis, Diagnosis, Therapy, Controls”, which emphasizes the importance of all steps of a restoration process in order to obtain a thorough understanding of the structural behaviour of built cultural heritage. The contributions cover every aspect of the structural analysis of historical constructions, such as material characterization, structural modelling, static and dynamic monitoring, non-destructive techniques for on-site investigation, seismic behaviour, rehabilitation, traditional and innovative repair techniques, and case studies. A special focus has been put on six specific themes: - Innovation and heritage - Preventive conservation - Computational strategies for heritage structures - Sustainable strengthening of masonry with composites - Values and sustainability, and - Subsoil interaction The knowledge, insights and ideas in Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions. Anamnesis, diagnosis, therapy, controls make this book of abstracts and the corresponding, digital full-colour conference proceedings containing the full papers must-have literature for researchers and practitioners involved in the structural analysis of historical constructions.

Book Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions 2 Volume Set

Download or read book Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions 2 Volume Set written by Claudio Modena and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 1466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions contains about 160 papers that were presented at the IV International Seminar on Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions that was held from 10 to 13 November, 2004 in Padova Italy. Following publications of previous seminars that were organized in Barcelona, Spain (1995 and 1998) and Guimarães, Portugal (2001), state-of-the-art information is presented in these two volumes on the preservation, protection, and restoration of historical constructions, both comprising monumental structures and complete city centers. These two proceedings volumes are devoted to the possibilities of numerical and experimental techniques in the maintenance of historical structures. In this respect, the papers, originating from over 30 countries, are subdivided in the following areas: Historical aspects and general methodology, Materials and laboratory testing, Non-destructive testing and inspection techniques, Dynamic behavior and structural monitoring, Analytical and numerical approaches, Consolidation and strengthening techniques, Historical timber and metal structures, Seismic analysis and vulnerability assessment, Seismic strengthening and innovative systems, Case studies. Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions is a valuable source of information for scientists and practitioners working on structure-related issues of historical constructions
