Book Mon p re ce h ros Petite histoire de l Immigration Portugaise

Download or read book Mon p re ce h ros Petite histoire de l Immigration Portugaise written by Luis Coixao and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Worst Book Ever

Download or read book The Worst Book Ever written by Elise Gravel and published by Drawn & Quarterly. This book was released on 2021-04-29 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Don’t take the title as a metaphor: it really is the worst book ever. Governor General Literary Award winning children’s book author and illustrator Elise Gravel takes readers on an unexpected journey through the world’s most boring book. The story’s characters and omniscient readers alike quickly become annoyed by the author’s bland imagination and rebel against her tired tropes and stale character choices, spouting sass in an attempt to get her attention and steer the narrative in a more interesting direction. After all, you don’t even have to buy the book, but the characters? They’re stuck in there for an eternity, and they’re going to do their best to make the most of it, or at least have a little fun where they can. As the charming and bizarre true nature of the characters overpowers the dry attributes given to them by the author, this once blasé story quickly picks up speed, transforming the story into something much more unique than originally promised. With Gravel’s signature goofy characters behind the wheel, no silly twist or rude body function is off the table!

Book Jews and Gender in Liberation France

Download or read book Jews and Gender in Liberation France written by K. H. Adler and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-08-07 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes a new look at occupied and liberated France through the dual prism of race, specifically Jewishness, and gender - core components of Vichy ideology. The imagining of liberation and the potential post-Vichy state, lay at the heart of resistance strategy. Their transformation into policy at liberation forms the basis of an enquiry that reveals a society which, while split deeply at the political level, found considerable agreement over questions of race, the family and gender. This is explained through a new analysis of republican assimilation which insists that gender was as important a factor as nationality or ethnicity. A new concept of the 'long liberation' provides a framework for understanding the continuing influence of the liberation in post-war France, where scientific planning came to the fore, but whose exponents were profoundly imbued with reductive beliefs about Jews and women that were familiar during Vichy.

Download or read book Sartre written by Fredric Jameson and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 1984 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1961, "Sartre: The Origins of a Style" is a striking attempt "not merely to analyze Sartre's work formally, from an aesthetic perspective but above all to replace Sartre in literary history itself." As a study of Sartre's writings this work articulates the antagonism between the modernist tradition and Sartrean narrative or stylistic procedures. From the broader methodological perspective, Jameson turns around "the relationship between narrative and narrative closure, the possibility of storytelling, and the kinds of experience-- social and existential--structurally available in a given social formation."
