Book Molecular Simulation Studies in Material and Biological Sciences

Download or read book Molecular Simulation Studies in Material and Biological Sciences written by Kholmirzo Kholmurodov and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book & CD. Computer molecular simulations of complex multi-particle systems play a fascinating role in fundamental physics, biochemical and life sciences. Having an increasingly significant impact on many applied industries, especially in modern biophysical and nanotechnological areas, molecular simulation provides a set of tools for predicting many functional properties of molecular systems. The chemical, pharmaceutical, materials and related industries -- all share the computer molecular simulation methods. The molecular simulation studies cover different fields of either biological processes -- protein folding and electron densities of DNA and proteins, or thin film formations and surface-cluster phenomena in nanoelectronics, synthetic copolymers and biopolymer design in biochemistry, so on. Practically all of the world's present supercomputers and many specially developed high performance computing clusters over the world are performing molecular simulations or are aimed on these needs. This book presents leading international research in this dynamic field.

Book The Art of High Performance Computing for Computational Science Vol 1

Download or read book The Art of High Performance Computing for Computational Science Vol 1 written by Masaaki Geshi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-14 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides basic and practical techniques of parallel computing and related methods of numerical analysis for researchers who conduct numerical calculation and simulation. Although the techniques provided in this book are field-independent, these methods can be used in fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, earth sciences, space science, meteorology, disaster prevention, and manufacturing. In particular, those who develop software code in these areas will find this book useful. The contents are suitable for graduate students and researchers in computational science rather than novices at programming or informed experts in computer science. Starting with an introduction to the recent trends in computer architecture and parallel processing, Chapter 1 explains the basic knowledge of speedup programs with simple examples of numerical computing. Chapters 2 – 4 detail the basics of parallel programming, the message passing interface (MPI), and OpenMP and discuss hybrid parallelization techniques. Showing an actual example of adaptation, Chapter 5 gives an overview of performance tuning and communication optimizations. To deal with dense matrix calculations, Chapter 6 details the basics and practice of linear algebra calculation libraries BLAS and LAPACK, including some examples that can be easily reproduced by readers using free software. Focusing on sparse matrix calculations, Chapter 7 explains high performance algorithms for numerical linear algebra. Chapter 8 introduces the fast Fourier transform in large-scale systems from the basics. Chapter 9 explains optimization and related topics such as debug methods and version control systems. Chapter 10 discusses techniques for increasing computation accuracy as an essential topic in numerical calculation. This is the first of the two volumes that grew out of a series of lectures in the K computer project in Japan. The second volume will focus on advanced techniques and examples of applications in materials science.

Book High Performance Computing

Book excerpt: I wish to welcome all of you to the International Symposium on High Perf- mance Computing 2002 (ISHPC2002) and to Kansai Science City, which is not farfromtheancientcapitalsofJapan:NaraandKyoto.ISHPC2002isthefourth in the ISHPC series, which consists, to date, of ISHPC ’97 (Fukuoka, November 1997), ISHPC ’99 (Kyoto, May 1999), and ISHPC2000 (Tokyo, October 2000). The success of these symposia indicates the importance of this area and the strong interest of the research community. With all of the recent drastic changes in HPC technology trends, HPC has had and will continue to have a signi?cant impact on computer science and technology. I am pleased to serve as General Chair at a time when HPC plays a crucial role in the era of the IT (Information Technology) revolution. The objective of this symposium is to exchange the latest research results in software, architecture, and applications in HPC in a more informal and friendly atmosphere. I am delighted that the symposium is, like past successful ISHPCs, comprised of excellent invited talks, panels, workshops, as well as high-quality technical papers on various aspects of HPC. We hope that the symposium will provide an excellent opportunity for lively exchange and discussion about - rections in HPC technologies and all the participants will enjoy not only the symposium but also their stay in Kansai Science City.
