Book Hiding History in the Nee and Lee Eras of the Lord s Recovery

Download or read book Hiding History in the Nee and Lee Eras of the Lord s Recovery written by Stephen Isitt and published by . This book was released on 2014-12-10 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This writing is a transparent rendering of the history of "the local churches" under the leadership of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee and their ministry(s), which now is in the hands of a group of "blending brothers" who were mentored by Lee and are fully engaged in promoting his ministry in and through the "local churches" associated with them and with Living Stream Ministry. "Living Stream Ministry publishes the works of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee providing the authoritative and definitive collections of treasures from these two servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. The writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee focus on the enjoyment of the divine life, which all the believers possess, and on the building up of the church, the goal of God's work with man in this age." (from LSM Home page)The term "local church" is to be applied to Christians in a locality who meet on a ground of understanding that they are one in Christ with every true believer and desire practically to be built up with believers in their own locality according to Christ alone and God's own receiving of them. This is the view seen in the New Testament. It is also the vision we see at the beginning of the Lord's recovery in the Watchman Nee era, but toward the end his view had changed dramatically as the threat of Communist interference rolled across China. The era of Witness Lee parallels that of his mentor: They both began with 1) Christ as life for building up local churches, with "administration local each answering to the Lord"; but ended up inspiring a movement in the churches to 2) "hand over" the reins of leadership to one man and his ministry. This book is to inspire them to come back to the vision at the beginning of the Lord's recovery.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Book When God Turned Off the Lights

Download or read book When God Turned Off the Lights written by Cecil Murphey and published by Revell. This book was released on 2009-08-14 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every devoted Christian experiences periods of time when God seems far away, when the light of his face seems to have turned away and left his child to fumble in the darkness. During periods of spiritual blackout, when God seems to be silent, we feel as if we've been put on hold. We wait and wait for God to get back on the line. We know it will be wonderful when the light comes back on and drives away the darkness, but we want it now--not later. Award-winning writer Cecil Murphey has journeyed through this darkness three different times during his many years following Christ, and each time was more difficult than the last. He suggests that believers have three choices when the lights go out: (1) give up, (2) examine ourselves for sin or failure, or (3) accept that God's face is hidden with his purpose in mind. In When God Turned Off the Lights, readers will learn how to make the most of their time on hold by pondering the mysteries of God's character, confident that he will turn the lights on once again.

Book excerpt: “I used to be a lesbian.” In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could? At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel. Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

Download or read book In the Embrace of God written by Ann O. Graff and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2005-01-26 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since Karl Rahner posited the importance of the nature of the human as the starting point for theological reflection, the field of Christian anthropology has been one where very basic questions - and much creative theologizing - have been focused. For example, liberation theologians have had much to say about the presumptions inherent in classical definitions of human being and have pointed up the vital idea of social location as an integral part of human experience. Theological anthropology has come to be of vital interest to Christian feminists as well. As in other disciplines, the study of what is human tends to either ignore gender or to favor one as normative. In the quest to understand the totality of human experience it is necessary to view it from 'lived' experience. At the same time and deeply embedded in the Christian tradition is the recognition that human beings come from God, are going to God, and dwell in the embrace of God. 'In the Embrace of God' provides a well-organized, clearly focused volume of original essays by North American feminist theologians encompassing the major areas of theological anthropology. In addressing the meaning of creation and end-time, fall and redemption, sin and grace, pain and suffering, sexuality and ecology, these contributors offer fresh insights and helpful new ways to approach the rich complexities of human experience.
