Book excerpt: Debido al grado de dificultad que presenta el diseño y análisis de un elemento de cimentación (zapatas y losas), es deseable contar con algún otro tipo de apoyo necesario para poder entender mejor el tema. En el presente trabajo se desarrolla un programa con animaciones que pretende mostrar en forma más clara las diversas etapas en el proceso de análisis y diseño de cimentaciones superficiales Para poder realizarlo fue necesario utilizar un lenguaje de programación. Antes de decidir cual era el más adecuado entre Flash y Director, se revisaron cuales eran los alcances de cada uno de estos además de cómo se podrían acoplar para el desarrollo de la misma. Al terminar con esta comparación se optó por Flash, debido a la facilidad de uso y características proporcionadas para las necesidades que se buscaban. Por otra parte fue necesario el uso de diversos programas para la elaboración del software como lo fueron: TurboCad para elaborar las figuras que se presentan dentro del programa, PhotoSuite para la edición de las imágenes, entre otros. Dentro de ésta tesis está contemplada toda la información necesaria (teórica e ilustrativa) para comprender mejor los tópicos del diseño y análisis de los elementos de cimentación superficial propuestos en este trabajo, el cual se subdivide en 9 capítulos, los cuales contienen lo siguiente: en el primero es correspondiente a esta introducción, el segundo se enfatiza sobre toda la información y fenómenos físicos importantes en la interacción del suelo-cimentación contemplados en el diseño de las zapatas y losas; el tercer capítulo abarca los criterios de diseño que se emplean para los elementos de cimentación; en el cuarto se hace alusión a los programas Flash y Director, además de cómo es que se tomó la decisión para la elaboración del programa y cuáles fueron las causas de esta, ; el quinto corresponde al tópico de zapatas aisladas y corridas; el sexto capítulo traba sobre las zapatas combinadas, el séptimo capítulo corresponde a las l.
