Book Ambassador Book Two

Download or read book Ambassador Book Two written by Ken Taylor and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-08-26 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the ages, mankind has asked itself why certain people oppose progress, or worse, want to violently end it? The answer is that we all live lives according to where we fit on a spectrum. On one end you have the Creative class. This Alpha class of people is at the top one-fifth of society and is comprised of all the teachers, artists, engineers, doctors, writers, businessmen and women, scientists, builders, technicians, anyone and everyone that creates results that help to sustain and move humanity forward. At the opposite end you have the Destructive class. This Omega class, which is comprised of the sociopaths and psychopaths, takes up the bottom one-fifth of the spectrum and consist of all the criminals, rapists, thieves, murderers, bullies, and terrorists that want not only to destroy any positive change or progress made by the creative class, but would ultimately like to see the creative class disappear entirely. The center of the spectrum consists of the remaining three-fifths of humanity, the consumer class, the mundane world, the status quo. These people lie in the gray zone between the two extremes and are either good, bad, or indifferent, depending on how closely they sit near either end of the spectrum. This is the pool, or resource, that the Alphas and Omegas have to pull from, and this has been likened to a battle for souls. If the bad guys are more resourceful and can recruit bigger numbers, that tilts humanity toward destruction. On the other hand, if the good guys can develop the talents that lie latent in the emerging creative class, humanity can continue to prosper and move forward. This struggle is about choice. No one gets to stay in the center of the spectrum safely away from making a decision. There are forces at work, temptations, if you will, that are constantly pulling us in one direction or another and shape our intentions. This is the quiet war that we all have inside of us, the hidden dialogue that we try to keep others from discovering by pretending that we are indifferent when the exact opposite is true. You can't pretend to be an empty vessel. Everyone has something inside of them, either good or bad, that can either be developed or corrupted. The book you are now reading helps put this never-ending struggle in its proper perspective and will help you alleviate any doubts as to why things are the way they are. The information you are holding will help you to identify where you are on the spectrum and can help you better understand and educate you in how to move successfully toward one end or the other. For those that are moving toward the destructive end of things, this book will help you to understand what you can expect as far as dealing with the consequences for your actions and will prepare you for the accountability involved should you choose to join the destroyers of humanity. On the opposite side, if you are more inclined to choose a life of relative peace and prosperity, this book will help guide to toward making the decisions that will empower you to succeed. The choice is yours, but you have to decide. Do you represent what is evil and will accept the consequences or do you want to do something different, something cool that will help shape the type of future you want to live and not just one that is thrust upon you, to represent love and progress, to be an Ambassador.

Book Standing Up to the Madness

Download or read book Standing Up to the Madness written by Amy Goodman and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2008-05-01 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Standing Up to the Madness not only is a timely, inspiring, and even revolutionary look at who wields the greatest power in America--everyday people who take a chance and stand up for what they believe in--but also offers advice on what you can do to help. Where are the millions marching in the streets to defend human rights, civil liberties, and racial justice? Where is the mass revulsion against the killing and torture being carried out in our name? Where are the environmentalists? Where is the peace movement? The answer: They are everywhere. The award-winning sister-brother team of Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!, and investigative journalist David Goodman traveled the country to detail the ways in which grassroots activists have taken politics out of the hands of politicians. Standing Up to the Madness tells the stories of everyday citizens who have challenged the government and prevailed. As the Bush administration has waged war abroad and at home, it has catalyzed a vast groundswell of political action. From African-American residents of deluged New Orleans who are fighting racism and City Hall to regain their homes; to four Connecticut librarians who refused to spy on their patrons, challenged the USA PATRIOT Act, and won; to a group of high school students who were barred from performing a play they wrote on the Iraq War based on letters from soldiers; to the first U.S. Army officer to publicly refuse orders to deploy to Iraq, charging that his duty as an officer is to refuse to fight in an illegal and immoral war, Standing Up to the Madness profiles citizens rising to extraordinary challenges. And, in the process, they are changing the way that politics is done, both now and in the future. In communities around the United States, courageous individuals have taken leaps of faith to stop the madness. They could only hope that if they led, others would follow. That is how movements are born. What begins as one, eventually becomes many. In that tradition, the authors have included the ways in which any individual can take action and effect change.

Download or read book The Biblical Hero written by Elliott Rabin and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2020-03-01 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approaching the Bible in an original way—comparing biblical heroes to heroes in world literature—Elliott Rabin addresses a core biblical question: What is the Bible telling us about what it means to be a hero? Focusing on the lives of six major biblical characters—Moses, Samson, David, Esther, Abraham, and Jacob—Rabin examines their resemblance to hero types found in (and perhaps drawn from) other literatures and analyzes why the Bible depicts its heroes less gloriously than do the texts of other cultures: * Moses founds the nation of Israel—and is short-tempered and weak-armed. * Samson, arrogant and unhinged, can kill a thousand enemies with his bare hands. * David establishes a centralized, unified, triumphal government—through pretense and self-deception. * Esther saves her people but marries a murderous, misogynist king. * Abraham's relationships are wracked with tension. * Jacob fathers twelve tribes—and wins his inheritance through deceit. In the end, is God the real hero? Or is God too removed from human constraints to even be called a “hero”? Ultimately, Rabin excavates how the Bible’s unique perspective on heroism can address our own deep-seated need for human-scale heroes.

Book Heroes in the Night

  • Author : Tea Krulos
  • Publisher : Chicago Review Press

  • ISBN : 1613747780

Download or read book Heroes in the Night written by Tea Krulos and published by Chicago Review Press. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Watchman didn't arrive in a Batmobile but drove a tan, four-door Pontiac. He was in costume, of course—a trench coat, motorcycle gloves, army boots, a domino mask, and a red hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with a W logo. Journalist Tea Krulos had spoken to him over the phone but never face-to-mask. By the end of the interview, he wasn't sure if the Watchman was delightfully eccentric or completely crazy. But he was going to find out. Heroes in the Night traces Krulos's journey into the strange subculture of Real Life Superheroes, random citizens who have adopted comic book&–style personas and hit the streets to fight injustice. Some concentrate on humanitarian or activist missions—helping the homeless, gathering donations for food banks, or delivering toys to children—while others actively patrol their neighborhoods looking for crime to fight. By day, these modern Clark Kents work as dishwashers, pencil pushers, and executives in Fortune 500 companies. But by night, only the Shadow knows. Well, the Shadow and Tea Krulos. Through historical research, extensive interviews, and many long hours walking patrol in Brooklyn, Seattle, San Diego, Minneapolis, and Vancouver, British Columbia, Krulos discovered what being a RLSH is all about. He shares not only their shining, triumphant moments but some of their ill-advised, terrifying disasters as well. It's all part of the life of a superhero. As the Watchman explains, &“If everyone made little changes in what they did, gave a little more to charity, watched out for their neighbors, we wouldn't have the problems that we have.&”

Book Take a Seat make a Stand a Hero in the Family

Download or read book Take a Seat make a Stand a Hero in the Family written by Amy Nathan and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells of Sarah Keys Evans, an unsung Civil Rights hero. As a young woman in the Women's Army Corps in 1952, she did what Rosa Parks did-three years before Rosa Parks. Sarah Keys Evans kept standing up for her rights until victory was won. Her story shows that an individual can have an impact on history, and that in troubled times ordinary people can step up and accomplish remarkable things. Her story also shows that change is a step-by-step process. Many small contributions along the way help to bring about big shifts in attitudes and laws. "Sarah Keys, a courageous Army private, helped set the stage for the civil rights movement in the 1950s by seeking and getting a legal ruling outlawing discrimination on seating on buses and proving that justice can be there for each of us." Wilma L. Vaught, Brigadier General, USAF (retired); President, Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation, Inc. "Sarah Keys fought her battle against segregation and humiliations as a matter of moral decency and learned first hand about mental and physical fear thus exemplifying extraordinary courage." Representative Major R. Owens, U.S. House of Representatives; from a proclamation issued March 2006 "Perfectly pitched to its target elementary audience. Nathan strikes just the right balance of emotion and facts necessary to reach children within the context of a history lesson. A winner." -Kirkus Discoveries
