Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Franz Kafka, the author has very nicely narrated the story of Gregou Samsa who wakes up one day to discover that he has metamorphosed into a bug. The book concerns itself with the themes of alienation and existentialism. The author has written many important stories, including ‘The Judgement’, and much of his novels ‘Amerika’, ‘The Castle’, ‘The Hunger Artist’. Many of his stories were published during his lifetime but many were not. Over the course of the 1920s and 30s Kafka’s works were published and translated instantly becoming landmarks of twentieth-century literature. Ironically, the story ends on an optimistic note, as the family puts itself back together. The style of the book epitomizes Kafka’s writing. Kafka very interestingly, used to present an impossible situation, such as a man’s transformation into an insect, and develop the story from there with perfect realism and intense attention to detail. The Metamorphosis is an autobiographical piece of writing, and we find that parts of the story reflect Kafka’s own life.

Download or read book H E R O Metamorphosis written by Kevin Gerald Rau and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2011-08-19 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: H.E.R.O. - Metamorphosis kicks off the most extensive, continuous and ongoing superhero series of the last decade, if not longer! This novel is a standalone book, but it introduces the new world, the city of Metrocity, and the core heroes involved in over 1.7 million words throughout the series. It functions much like a television series or comic book series, with intertwining plots and characters throughout.H.E.R.O. - Metamorphosis follows the story of three people - Stephanie, Lance, and Rael. They find they are changed into supers, along with others in Metrocity, when a meteor shower unleashes radiation above the city. The friends discover that they become a psychic, a brick, and a mutant. They must cope with the changes to their everyday life, friends and college as they discover the new powers at their disposal. In the midst of trying to become heroes and dealing with the changes to their normal lives, a mutant villain captures many new supers in a bid to build an army for herself. The H.E.R.O. series is a new supers universe of heroes and villains. As a novel-based story forum, it allows for deeper character development than that of a comic book or graphic novel based story. At the current point in the universe, supers have existed for about twenty five years. The H.E.R.O. organization - the Homeland Extraordinary Response Organization - allows for a loosely operated environment for the heroes to operate without being vigilantes. The common super types include Psychics, Blasters, Bricks and Mutants, although some crossover occurs in unusual individuals. Psychics generally gain mental powers, such as telepathy, telekinesis, or emotional powers. Blasters have the ability to generate or control an element or waveform, such as light, electricity, or heat. Bricks are the strongmen of the world, having massive strength and bodies that can sustain immense damage. Mutants appear less human in appearance due to the addition of blades, tentacles, fins, wings, tails, and more to their bodies, and are between a brick and the others in physical strength.H.E.R.O. - Metamorphosis is a full length novel of approximately 122,000 words. Book Metamorphoses

  • Author : Ovid
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2021-01-12
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 366 pages

Download or read book Metamorphoses written by Ovid and published by . This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It is the single most important work of poetry in ancient history" - M. L. Andres, author of 'A Simple but Effective Strategy for Success' & founder of The Block Bard. Ovid's 15-book epic, written in exquisite Latin hexameter, is a rollercoaster of a read. Beginning with the creation of the world, and ending with Rome in his own lifetime, the Metamorphoses drags the reader through time and space, from beginnings to endings, from life to death, from moments of delicious joy to episodes of depravity and abjection. The madness and chaos of some 250 stories, spanning around 700 lines of poetry per book, are woven together by the theme of metamorphosis or transformation. The artistic dexterity involved in pulling off this literary feat is testimony to Ovid's skill and ambition as a poet. This accomplishment also goes a long way in explaining the rightful place the Metamorphoses holds within the canon of classical literature, placed as it is beside other great epics of Mediterranean antiquity such as the Iliad, Odyssey and Aeneid.

Each chapter takes a particular literary or visual incarnation, grappling with the question of the hero's significance within the early Church, in less formal contexts, and beyond Christendom in his unexpected role as Buddha's companion in Gandharan art. The volume is one of four to be published in the Metaforms series examining the extraordinarily persistent role of Herakles-Hercules in western culture up to the present day, drawing together scholars from a range of disciplines to offer a unique insight into the hero's perennial appeal"--

Caroline finds no meaning in this life of purposeless ease, and forgets her emptiness only in moments of violent and profane exhibitionism. • Pages : 93 pages

Download or read book Metamorphosis written by Sankalpita Mullick and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2016-09-27 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every story has a hero and a villian. There is always an evil stepmother, the power-hungry chief or a cunning friend. I had always wondered what had happened to the villains after the great battle. The heroes got their happily ever after but the villains who had actually put in similar effort in the fight were left to rot. Two people fighting each other can never be that different. They just believe in different things. I thought it to be unfair that they werent given a second chance because at the end of the day they did not lose because they were entirely bad but because they had that one bad trait which led to their downfall. Be it pride, obsession, insecurity or hate, they too had a life before it was uprooted and made into pulp. So I sincerely hope you enjoy this story about villains, enemies and hate which teach us about heroes, friendship and love.

  • Pages : 273 pages

Download or read book Blackass written by A. Igoni Barrett and published by Graywolf Press. This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Furo Wariboko, a young Nigerian, awakes the morning before a job interview to find that he's been transformed into a white man. In this condition he plunges into the bustle of Lagos to make his fortune. With his red hair, green eyes, and pale skin, it seems he's been completely changed. Well, almost. There is the matter of his family, his accent, his name. Oh, and his black ass. Furo must quickly learn to navigate a world made unfamiliar and deal with those who would use him for their own purposes. Taken in by a young woman called Syreeta and pursued by a writer named Igoni, Furo lands his first-ever job, adopts a new name, and soon finds himself evolving in unanticipated ways. A. Igoni Barrett's Blackass is a fierce comic satire that touches on everything from race to social media while at the same time questioning the values society places on us simply by virtue of the way we look. As he did in Love Is Power, or Something Like That, Barrett brilliantly depicts life in contemporary Nigeria and details the double-dealing and code-switching that are implicit in everyday business. But it's Furo's search for an identity--one deeper than skin--that leads to the final unraveling of his own carefully constructed story.
