Book The Higgs Hunter s Guide

Download or read book The Higgs Hunter s Guide written by John F. Gunion and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-03-05 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Higgs Hunter's Guide is a definitive and comprehensive guide to the physics of Higgs bosons. In particular, it discusses the extended Higgs sectors required by those recent theoretical approaches that go beyond the Standard Model, including supersymmetry and superstring-inspired models.

Book Photon photon Collisions 9th International Workshop On Photon photon Collisions

Download or read book Photon photon Collisions 9th International Workshop On Photon photon Collisions written by D O Caldwell and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992-12-31 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings blend current and future two-photon physics. Developments since the last Photon-Photon Workshop four years ago are summarized, and the future of the field is projected, not only at existing accelerators, but also at heavy-ion colliders B-factories, and especially linear colliders with back-scattered laser beams.

Book Photon Photon Collisions Past and Future

Download or read book Photon Photon Collisions Past and Future written by Stanley J. Brodsky and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I give a brief review of the history of photon-photon physics and a survey of its potential at future electron-positron colliders. Exclusive hadron production processes in photon-photon and electron-photon collisions provide important tests of QCD at the amplitude level, particularly as measures of hadron distribution amplitudes. There are also important high energy {gamma}{gamma} and e{gamma} tests of quantum chromodynamics, including the production of jets in photon-photon collisions, deeply virtual Compton scattering on a photon target, and leading-twist single-spin asymmetries for a photon polarized normal to a production plane. Since photons couple directly to all fundamental fields carrying the electromagnetic current including leptons, quarks, W's and supersymmetric particles, high energy {gamma}{gamma} collisions will provide a comprehensive laboratory for Higgs production and exploring virtually every aspect of the Standard Model and its extensions. High energy back-scattered laser beams will thus greatly extend the range of physics of the International Linear Collider.

Book Heavy Quark Associated Production with One Hard Photon at Hadron Colliders

Download or read book Heavy Quark Associated Production with One Hard Photon at Hadron Colliders written by and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the calculation of heavy-quark associated production with a hard photon at hadron colliders, namely $pp(par p) → Qar Q +X$? (for $Q=t,b$), at Next-to-Leading Order (NLO) in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). We study the impact of NLO QCD corrections on the total cross section and several differential distributions at both the Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). For $tar t$? production we observe a sizeable reduction of the renormalization and factorization scale dependence when the NLO QCD corrections are included, while for $bar b$? production a considerable scale dependence still persists at NLO in QCD. This is consistent with what emerges in similar processes involving $b$ quarks and vector bosons and we explain its origin in detail. For $bar b$? production we study both the case in which at least one $b$ jet and the case in which at least two $b$ jets are observed. We perform the $bar b$? calculation using the Four Flavor Number Scheme (4FNS) and compare the case where at least one $b$ jet is observed with the corresponding results from the Five Flavor Number Scheme (5FNS) calculation. Finally we compare our results for $par p →+b+X$? with the Tevatron data.

Book Heavy Quarkonium Production at Collider Energies

Download or read book Heavy Quarkonium Production at Collider Energies written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We calculate the O([alpha]3s) short-distance, QCD collinear-factorized coefficient functions for all partonic channels that include the production of a heavy quark pair at short distances. Thus, this provides the first power correction to the collinear-factorized inclusive hadronic production of heavy quarkonia at large transverse momentum, pT, including the full leading-order perturbative contributions to the production of heavy quark pairs in all color and spin states employed in NRQCD treatments of this process. We discuss the role of the first power correction in the production rates and the polarizations of heavy quarkonia in high-energy hadronic collisions. The consistency of QCD collinear factorization and nonrelativistic QCD factorization applied to heavy quarkonium production is also discussed.

Book Polarized and Unpolarized Double Prommpt Photon Production in Next to leading Order QCD

Download or read book Polarized and Unpolarized Double Prommpt Photon Production in Next to leading Order QCD written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We calculate O([alpha][sub s]) corrections to inclusive and isolated double prompt photon production, both for the unpolarized case, and for longitudinal polarization of the incoming hadrons. The calculation is performed using purely analytical techniques for the inclusive case, and a combination of analytical and Monte Carlo techniques to perform the phase space integration in the isolated case. A brief phenomenological study is made of the process pp[r-arrow][gamma][gamma]X at CMS energies appropriate for the RHIC heavy ion collider. 21 refs., 8 figs.
