Book Processing and Utilization of High Sulfur Coals V

Download or read book Processing and Utilization of High Sulfur Coals V written by B.K. Parekh and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 645 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Utilization of high sulfur coals is becoming increasingly difficult in view of tighter environmental regulations being imposed around the world. To meet the challenge of utilizing high sulfur coals without damaging the environment, many scientists and engineers around the world are engaged in developing novel technologies. In the U.S.A. alone, the federal government has spent about five billion dollars to achieve that goal. This conference, like its predecessors, emphasizes desulfurization with papers on physical and chemical cleaning as well as post-treatment and fluid-bed combustion technologies. Of the 45 papers submitted, 15 papers deal with physical cleaning and 7 deal with chemical cleaning of coal, suggesting that a major emphasis is still be placed on pre-cleaning of coal. The post-treatment technologies, being developed with the support of U.S. federal and state government agencies, emphasize removal of both SOx and NOx gases. The book will be of particular interest and benefit to researchers, graduate students and other people involved in coal processing, characterization and utilization; public policy making and administration related to energy conservation, economic development, and environmental protection; and investors in industry and new technology.

  • ISBN : 9789056996963
  • Pages : 376 pages

Download or read book Coal Desulfurization written by S. K. Kawatra and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2001 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written to provide a comprehensive survey of the current state-of-the-art information in coal preparation, with particular emphasis on coal desulfrization. The primary audience for this book will be practising coal preparation engineers who need complete information about all of the coal preparation and desulphurization technologies that are available now, or that may be available in the future. It will also be valuable for coal researchers who need details and comparative data for cutting-edge technologies that are still under development. The main emphasis is on physical coal preparation, but chapters also include chemical and biological technologies that are under development, but not yet used in industrial practice. Along with the successful technologies, also included are details of processes and techniques that were attempted, but were subsequently abandoned, along with discussions of the reasons they were abandoned.

Book SME Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy Handbook

Download or read book SME Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy Handbook written by Courtney A. Young and published by Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration. This book was released on 2019-02-01 with total page 2258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This landmark publication distills the body of knowledge that characterizes mineral processing and extractive metallurgy as disciplinary fields. It will inspire and inform current and future generations of minerals and metallurgy professionals. Mineral processing and extractive metallurgy are atypical disciplines, requiring a combination of knowledge, experience, and art. Investing in this trove of valuable information is a must for all those involved in the industry—students, engineers, mill managers, and operators. More than 192 internationally recognized experts have contributed to the handbook’s 128 thought-provoking chapters that examine nearly every aspect of mineral processing and extractive metallurgy. This inclusive reference addresses the magnitude of traditional industry topics and also addresses the new technologies and important cultural and social issues that are important today. Book Heavy Minerals

    Book Details:
  • Author : Sergio Andò
  • Publisher : MDPI
  • Release : 2021-09-09
  • ISBN : 3039361309
  • Pages : 311 pages

Download or read book Heavy Minerals written by Sergio Andò and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-09-09 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The principal aim of this book is to provide a wide range of information and a useful reference for researchers interested to investigate heavy mineral assemblages in different geological settings and for a variety of purposes. The methodological developments achieved in recent years for the identification of heavy minerals in a wide grain-size range are illustrated. All factors that affect heavy mineral concentration and relative proportions, including hydraulic sorting, mechanical abrasion, chemical weathering, and post-depositional dissolution, and all factors able to introduce analytical, environmental, or diagenetic bias are thoroughly addressed. A proper integration of multiple techniques including bulk sediment, multi-mineral, and single-mineral methods are discussed by renowned authors in their invited contributions.
