Book Fluidized Bed Heat Treating

Download or read book Fluidized Bed Heat Treating written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steel (carbon, alloy, tool, and stainless), aluminum, titanium, and other metal can be heat treated economically in a fluidized bed furnace. All heat treatments except controlled rate cooling rate annealing are viable. Since gases are used to fluidize a bed of powder, any gaseous atmosphere can be used, and simply by turning a few valves, an atmosphere can be completely changed over in 2 minutes or less. This feature allows multiple heat treating operations to be done in the same furnace without cool down, switching furnaces, and reheating which is standard in commercial shops. Fluidized bed heat treating is economical, safer, and almost emission free. Data is presented comparing cycle times and cost for the most common heat treatments and results of emissions testing of fluidized beds are presented. Finally, fluidized bed heat treating cycles for steel, aluminum, titanium, magnesium, and copper are given.

Book Heat and Mass Transfer in Fluidised bed Heat treatment Furnaces

Download or read book Heat and Mass Transfer in Fluidised bed Heat treatment Furnaces written by Weimin Gao and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mechanisms of heat and mass transfers between heat-treatment fluidised beds and immersed workpiece were studied by using computational simulation and experimental validation. A model called Double Particle-layer and Porous Medium was developed to simulate the gas flow and heat transfer between fluidised beds and immersed workpiece.

Book Fluidized Bed Technology

Download or read book Fluidized Bed Technology written by J. R. Howard and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1989-07-01 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluidized beds have been known for over a century, yet widespread application has only occurred in the last fifty years. They are now one of the most important chemical engineering technologies. Applications range from oil refining to drying processes, solids handling systems, boilers, metallurgical heat treatment furnaces and environmental protection measures. Fluidized Bed Technology: Principles and Applications presents the essential facts about beds of solid particles when fluidized by gases, and explains how the technology has been applied to yield fluidized bed boilers, furnaces, heat recovery systems and process plants. The text is accompanied by worked examples, using elementary mathematics, to illustrated practical considerations, and contains comprehensive references for further reading. Fluidized Bed Technology: Principles and Applications will give the reader confidence to pursue the subject in greater depth and develop their own ideas. This will be a useful text for engineering students, practising professional engineers, engineering consultants, fuel technologists, R & D engineers and scientists, and any who may have to train staff in this area.

Book Practical Heat Treating

Download or read book Practical Heat Treating written by Jon L. Dossett and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is heat treatment? This book describes heat treating technology in clear, concise, and nontheoretical language. It is an excellent introduction and guide for design and manufacturing engineers, technicians, students, and others who need to understand why heat treatment is specified and how different processes are used to obtain desired properties. The new Second Edition has been extensively updated and revised by Jon. L. Dossett, who has more than forty years of experience in theat treating operations and management. The update adds important information about new processes and process control techniques that have been developed or refined in recent years. Helpfull appendices have been added on decarburization of steels, boost/diffues cycles for carburizing, and process verification.
