Book The Path to Harness Racing Handicapping Profits

Download or read book The Path to Harness Racing Handicapping Profits written by Douglas Masters and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-08-15 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a LARGE PRINT format paperback using an 18 pt. Arial font. This book represents three decades of handicapping and betting harness races and is a summary of observations that are important to being a winning player. This book summarizes the conclusions on what made the author a winning player. There is no magic formula to become a winning player and the author is the first to say that there is more than one road to profits. This book is the road taken by Doug Masters to becoming a winning player. Becoming a winning player is part art and part skill, so it is impossible to summarize it as a mechanical method; however, Doug attempts to outline his process in the second half of the book. This book may be difficult for beginning harness handicappers to read because it does not explain any basic terminology. There are, however, glossaries of harness racing terms online as well in the racing programs of harness tracks. There are no winning examples in this book. This is a quote from the author in the introduction. "You will find no past performances listed in this book; this is intentional. Anyone who has been around harness racing for even a few years has probably read various books and publications offering a handicapping system. All of them will have examples of how a handicapping system or angle picked a winner. Anyone can do this, especially when so many of these authors are working backwards from the winner. To me, it is simply a waste of time. And besides, only a mediocre or inexperienced handicapper is going to believe there is a single path to success in wagering. This book consists of my observations of the sport and how it relates to my own handicapping perspective. If you are looking for a system that represents some sort of absolute truth, you're looking in the wrong place." Topics include: Handicapping Factors, Drivers, Horse Form, Speed, Pace, Class, Post position, Track, Statistics, Betting multiple racetracks.

Book Bet to Win at the Harness Races

Download or read book Bet to Win at the Harness Races written by Joseph Brierly and published by . This book was released on 2012-02-08 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book by Dr. Joseph E. Brierly offers harness race bettors an extensive professional statistical analysis of the harness race. Everything imaginable impacting the outcome of a harness race is found some where in this book. For example, questions like what are the best and worst post-positions? What variables impact success at picking winners? What is the effect of a horse winning the last time out on the next race entered? What difference does age and weight of the driver make. Many such factors were statistically analyzed by the author over a seven year period. No other book on the subject of betting harness races has ever accomplished this goal. The statistical sampling on harness races was done over seven year period at a number of harness racetracks. This book reveals the many winning secrets discovered through the statistical analysis by the author. The author Dr. Joseph E. Brierly earned a Ph.D. in mathematics from the Wayne State University in 1975. As part of his graduate level Ph.D. program in mathematics he took many advanced courses in the theory of probability and statistics. Later on Dr. Brierly applied mathematics and statistics to optimizing logistics support for military systems. Interest in applying mathematics and statistics to games of chance followed naturally from his education and experience background. Dr. Brierly spent most of his spare time during his over two year professional career pursuing the hobby of finding ways to optimize bets on harness horse racing and optimizing chances for winning a lottery. A book on how to optimize chances at winning the library is available at Amazon.com and the author's Ebay store DOULTONANDMORE.The software system created by Dr. Brierly for winning at the harness races is named INSTAN. The system designed, tested and operated by Dr. Brierly enabled him to have winning seasons at the harness race tracks for over 20 years straight. INSTAN includes two basic types of software, an expert system and a simulation. The simulation allows one to simulate a race before it occurs. The simulation includes accurate handicaps for post position, driver ability, past performances, weather conditions, trainer and more. The expert system permits statistically analyzing any combination of traits by sampling. Both software programs within INSTAN were employed in composing this one-of-a-kind book on harness race betting. The pattern of the contents of the book is to investigate a number of complexes and traits to isolate their impact on earnings. The complexes analyzed allow one to assess accuracy at winning a race and profitability, simultaneously. Many patterns leading to successful earnings are found in this book. Anyone who employs the wisdom found in this book will no doubt become a better bettor and likely become a winner at the harness racetracks. At the heart of winning at the race track is having understanding that competitor bettors do not have. Any strategy could be profitable provided it is based on knowing ways to gain advantage by what the competition does not understand. Whether betting perfectas, trifectas, superfectas, daily doubles or just plain straight bets, one can win only by having an edge on the other bettors. The author has successfully made profits using a wide variety of bets verifying that any type bet can be profitable when made judiciously using statistical analysis found in this book. Dr. Brierly believes that gambling is the name of the game of life whether gambling on stocks, horse races or sports betting. Life is a gamble. Every day is a new day of chance taking. Dr. Brierly sees no downside to controlled gambling as long as one does not gamble more than what can be afforded to lose. On the upside gambling is a great way to add zest to life. It is guaranteed to give healthy adrenalin highs, if done sanely. It is a great hobby guaranteed to give many thrills.

Download or read book Bitterroot written by Susan Devan Harness and published by University of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2020-03-01 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2019 High Plains Book Award Winner for the Creative Nonfiction and Indigenous Writer categories In Bitterroot Susan Devan Harness traces her journey to understand the complexities and struggles of being an American Indian child adopted by a white couple and living in the rural American West. When Harness was fifteen years old, she questioned her adoptive father about her “real” parents. He replied that they had died in a car accident not long after she was born—except they hadn’t, as Harness would learn in a conversation with a social worker a few years later. Harness’s search for answers revolved around her need to ascertain why she was the target of racist remarks and why she seemed always to be on the outside looking in. New questions followed her through college and into her twenties when she started her own family. Meeting her biological family in her early thirties generated even more questions. In her forties Harness decided to get serious about finding answers when, conducting oral histories, she talked with other transracial adoptees. In her fifties she realized that the concept of “home” she had attributed to the reservation existed only in her imagination. Making sense of her family, the American Indian history of assimilation, and the very real—but culturally constructed—concept of race helped Harness answer the often puzzling questions of stereotypes, a sense of nonbelonging, the meaning of family, and the importance of forgiveness and self-acceptance. In the process Bitterrootalso provides a deep and rich context in which to experience life.
