Book excerpt: We all deserve a calm, well-ordered, pleasingly designed refuge where we can relax and enjoy our families. Having had four children in a little more than five years while running a thriving design business, with the body of a fit runner who does yoga and meditates, Christa O’Leary has become the guardian at the gate of our sanctuaries—our homes. She teaches us to be aware of the toxins found in both our food and furnishings; the detrimental effects of our unhealthy habits; and society’s frantic need to have the latest gadgets, to get ahead, and to be forever on the go. As a designer, therapist, and eco-friendly expert, she’s often asked how she makes her hockey-mom life and peaceful, beautiful, healthy home look so effortless. Well, the hunt for her secret is over! Christa shows us that it’s possible for all of us to feel inspired, energized, and in love with our lives and our homes. Many books address the components found in Home in Harmony, including design, color, feng shui, psychology, clean eating, detoxification, meditation, and finding our soul’s purpose. However, this is the first book that puts it all together in a fun-to-read, easy-to-implement format. This is the formula for living an extraordinary life, and it’s now available to everyone!

Book Higher Vibrations for Health Happiness and Harmony

Download or read book Higher Vibrations for Health Happiness and Harmony written by Brian Withers and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2015-06-19 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher Vibrations for Health, Happiness, and Harmony shows you why your life is the way it is, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and how to take back your power so you can take charge of what happens in your life. What we must realize is that much of our influences in our growing years were unaware of some critical pieces of knowledge about who we are as a complete human being and the power we possess to direct and navigate our life. In the absence of these missing pieces of knowledge, we as a human race have taken on many faulty and limited beliefs about ourselves, and about the way life is to be lived. This has profoundly affected the quality of our life. The missing pieces of knowledge not only connect us with our true power as a human being, but they connect us with the fundamental laws that govern everything in the universe, and empower us to co-create the life of our desires. Without this knowledge, not only is it virtually impossible for any of us to live a complete life of balance and fulfillment, but collectively, we cannot achieve world harmony and peace because we are operating with faulty and limited beliefs. In this book you will find the truth of your power and the natural laws, and how to use those to not only live the life you came to this planet for, but to strongly influence world peace and harmony without lifting a finger. You have that much power within you; you simply need to learn how to use it intentionally.

Download or read book You Topia written by Erik Veldhoen and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You-Topia You-topia is about people and about organisations. Its about the future of our society. You-topia is not a utopia, but is based largely on experience and evidence. You-topia is also a work of philosophy based on logical reasoning that is grounded in experience and evidence. You-topia is a call to action. How can we become our own leaders in this promising, seductive world? You-topia is, above all else, about the journey that we must make to regain the balance between desire and discipline. It is a world in which people and organisations perform better and are therefore happier and more successful. Let the journey to You-topia begin. Theres no excuse to put it off any longer. It will be worth your while. Welcome to the new world You-topia! Your ideal space! Because its all about the choices that you make: The moments you choose to do everyday things The places you choose to do your work The people you choose to meet The relevant discipline you choose to exercise The relevant energy you choose to spend The inspiration that you seek to achieve a satisfactory balance in your life This ideal place isnt yours alone, however. We share the place in order to do our everyday things. You can choose time and again, but your choices must always fit smoothly into the larger organisation to which you belong and into the turbulent society around you. Ultimately, everyone has to see to their own needs. Everyone has to develop the discipline required to meet the obligations that they take upon themselves, the obligations they have towards themselves and towards their environment. The choices we make in that respect will ultimately change the way we look at life. And that might mean anything from orderly regularity to total chaos, from an anarchical free state to a safe haven, and from steady-as-a-rock to Bacchanalian licentiousness. We have to internalise the freedom we are given. We have to combine the playing field and the rules of the game into a single formula and give them meaning. If we do that respectfully and consciously, then all will be well. Ever since Frederick Taylor introduced his Principles of Scientific Management, our work and our lives have been in the clutches of management. You-topia shows that severely curtailing our desire to manage everything will improve our lives. Every individual can harness his or her own energy and master his or her productivity. All organisations need do is facilitate this as best they can. Not only is that possible, but it is also going to happen, because You-topia is technology-driven. Without digitisation, we would not have access to information any time, anywhere. Without the virtual workspace, we would not be able to work whenever and wherever it suits us. Modern technology has weaned us off desks and offices and rigid timetables. It has forced us to reconsider time and place. And time and place must be given new meaning in a future that will be entirely different from our post-industrial era. You-topia channels this innovation in a particular direction by looking holistically at our new physical, virtual, and mental reality. In You-topia, less really is more!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This novel approach to epistemological discourse explains the complex but crucial role that systematization plays-not just for the organization of what we know, but also for its validation. Cognitive Harmony argues for a new conception of the process philosophers generally call induction. Relying on the root definition of harmony, a coherent unification of component parts (systemic integrity) in such a way that the final object can successfully accomplish what it was meant to do (evaluative positivity), Rescher discusses the role of harmony in cognitive contexts, the history of cognitive harmony, and the various features it has in producing human knowledge. The book ends on the issue of philosophy and the sort of harmony required of philosophical systems.

Book excerpt: Has modern physics proven that the universe was created by absolutely nothing? Absolutely not! Have modern cosmology and Darwinian evolution eliminated the need for God? Absolutely not! Have the new atheists demonstrated the irrelevance of theology and philosophy in the pursuit of Truth? Not even close! The first of the four-volume Eternal Harmony series, The Unity of Truth in God demonstrates decisively the powerful convergence of God-made religion and genuine science as well as faith and reason in the unity of truth in the one, true, triune God of the Holy Bible. The Tower of Modern Scientism is concurrently demolished so that not one scientistic stone is left standing upon another. Can the truths of modern science and God-made religion be brought into Eternal Harmony? Most definitely! Are human life and the cosmos meaningful and purposeful? Yes! Can you personally inherit eternal life in the new heavens and the new earth and be with God Himself? Absolutely! Join physicist Dr. Ron R. Rickards on a sacred journey up the Mountain of Truth, which begins on common scientific and religious ground and ends with the most exalted truths of modern science and God-made religion coexisting peacefully in Eternal Harmony. By incorporating the lyric sheets to a dozen original songs, The Unity of Truth in God engages the reader as all human beings truly deserve to be engaged: in the fullness of our humanitythat is, in heart, soul, and mind. The soundtrack is available through Amazon, iTunes and other popular outlets.

Book excerpt: Charlotte Mason looked at the world and saw that it was governed by universal laws, such as the law of gravity. Then she wondered. What if there were similar laws that governed the way people learn? If we knew what those laws were, we'd be able to pursue education along the most promising lines . She devoted her life to finding the key principles of education and then developing methods to make the most of them. The result is a comprehensive picture of living and learning that breathes life into education at every level--from babyhood to the adult years. It's not a rote system, but a flexible set of ideas that keep education in focus. These principles are for everyone concerned with teaching and learning. They are no more difficult to implement than the principle of gravity which allows you to walk, run, and even--when you know what you are doing--to soar.

  • Author : Babatunde Lawal
  • Publisher : University of Washington Press

Download or read book The G l d Spectacle written by Babatunde Lawal and published by University of Washington Press. This book was released on 1996 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This remarkable study explores the use of the visual and performing arts to promote nonviolence and social harmony in sub-Saharan Africa. It focuses on Gelede, a popular community festival of masquerade, dance, and song, held several times a year by the Yoruba of Southwestern Nigeria and the Republic of Benin. Babatunde Lawal, an art historian and African scholar who has taught in Nigeria, Brazil, and the United States, is himself a Yoruba and has taken an active part in Gelede. He writes from the perspective of an informed participant/observer of his own culture. Lawal bases his book on extensive field research--observations and interviews--conducted over more than two decades as well as on numerous published and unpublished scholarly sources. He casts significant new light on many previously obscure aspects of Gelede, and he demonstrates a useful methodological approach to the study of non-Western art. The book systematically covers the major aspects of the Gelede spectacle, presenting its cultural background and historical origins as preface to a vivid and detailed description of an actual performance. This is followed by a discussion of the iconography and aesthetics of costume, and an examination of the sculpted images on the masks. The book concludes with a discussion of the moral and aesthetic philosophy of Gelede and its responsiveness to technological and social change. The Gelede Spectacle is illustrated in color and black-and-white with over 100 field and museum photographs, including a rare sequence on the dressing of a masquerader. It offers, in addition, more than 60 Gelede song texts, proverbs, and divination verses, each in the original Yoruba as well as in translation. Lawal's interpretations of these pieces indicate the rich complexities of metaphor and analogy inherent in the Yoruba language and art.
