Reading the books in order is strongly encouraged. [*Short stories and novellas featuring the characters and situations in the Kiss Across Time series]. A Vampire Time Travel Romance Collection ___ Praise for More Time Kissed Moments: Cooper-Posey's writing is always brilliant. There's something fascinating and cerebral about a "Kiss Across Time" story that's more than your usual fantasy-time-travel-story. Smart characters, smart writing, smart dialog... if you're a fan of the series, you'd be smart to pick up "More Time Kissed Moments." It's a fascinating book of past and present with all its cruel, intriguing, captivating, loving, and at times humorous events. Creative and Amazing! I really love how original Tracy manages to be in a genre where everything seems to have been written. Some of my favorite parts are (1) the humor! [email protected]. Really!!!! Ha! and (2) the time travel part of the story and the explanations in regard to the loops which were astounding and told in a logical, well thought out manner. I loved reading this rich, complex and interesting tapestry of interwoven lives and loves. This is definitely a must-read book within the series and not a short story mix that you could choose to leave out of the series. GOLD! More compulsive reading for the Kiss Across Time series! Cooper-Posey is a master storyteller, but how she manages to create these elaborate interconnected storylines that flush out character development is incredible. This is like “Behind the scenes”, “The making of” and “out-takes” all wrapped in one! We get deeper glimpses into the characters, explanatory scenes and delightful vignettes of characters from this stellar series. The first opening story in this book had me laughing out loud. I haven’t read a book in this series that I don’t like. Starts out with a bang! Couldn't put it down. It's a whole lot of fun. Kept me riveted from the 1st page. It is like a colorful mosaic growing in depth and complexity with every addition. Simply marvellous!

Book excerpt: Ships have been overwhelmed by huge waves, consumed by fires, broken apart, sunk by storms and driven onto uncharted rocks. They have collided with icebergs or other ships, been sunk by enemy torpedoes or gunfire, or run aground on unlit coastlines at night. Boilers have exploded. Magazines have ignited. Cargoes have shifted with catastrophic consequences and submarines have submerged never to come up again. Shipwrecks selects the sinkings with the greatest loss of life, the most famous vessels, the richest treasure troves, the most archaeologically significant wreck sites and the most daring rescues. It tells the tales of the fate of the victims, the disastrous mistakes made by ships' captains and navigators, the impossible conditions faced at sea, the courage of those who survived and the audacious attempts to raise what now lies at the bottom of the sea.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Imperial Atrocities: Skeletons in Colonial Closets does not expose the total colonial story, but this eye-opening book does present a selection of some of the worst excesses perpetrated by Colonials throughout the world. In two cases, those of Ireland and India, native populations were allowed to starve. Their Colonial masters did nothing to either assist or provide food that was available. Colonial empires dominated the globe for just over 200 years, from about 1750 to 1960. The settings span various parts of Africa, the Middle East, India, and Asia. In these locales, native peoples were starved, exploited, or ignored, as the Empires were allowed to rule totally unchallenged. Says the author, “I lived in West Africa for six years, from 1958 to 1964, and then in Malaysia for the next sixteen years. Whilst in Malaysia, my job involved much travelling throughout Asia, and this book is the culmination of experiences and observations during those years. Everything that I have written about is documented fact.”

Book Emperor John II Komnenos

Download or read book Emperor John II Komnenos written by Maximilian C. G. Lau and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2024-02-02 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John II Komnenos was born into an empire on the brink of destruction, with his father Alexios barely preserving the empire in the face of civil wars and invasions. A hostage to crusaders as a child, married to a Hungarian princess as a teenager to win his father an alliance, and leading his own campaigns when his father died, it was left to John to try and rebuild the empire all but lost in the eleventh century. This book, the first English language study on John and his era, re-evaluates an emperor traditionally overlooked in favour of his father, hero of the Alexiad written by John's sister Anna, and of his son Manuel, acclaimed for reigning at the height of Komnenian power. John's reign is one of contradictions, as his capital of New Rome/Constantinople was to fall to the armies of the Fourth Crusade just over sixty years after he died, and yet his descendants led vibrant successor states based in the lands that John reconquered. His reign lacks a dominant textual source, and so this history is related as much through personal letters, court literature, archaeology, and foreign accounts as through traditional historical narratives. This study includes extensive study of the landscapes, castles, and cities John built and campaigned through, and provides a guide to the world in which John lived. It covers the empire's neighbours and rivals, the turning points of ecclesiastical history, the shaping of the crusader movement, and the workings of Byzantine government and administration.
