Book Inorganic Substances

Download or read book Inorganic Substances written by Rostislav Aleksandrovich Lidin and published by Begell House Publishers. This book was released on 1996 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an indispensable desk guide for scientists, instructors, students, engineers, and technicians in the chemical industry. Its aim is to be as concise as possible and yet give a detailed summary of inorganic chemistry. The Handbook proceeds from the four systematizing principles of inorganic chemistry, namely, (1) the Periodic Law and structure of atoms, (2) the chemical bond and structure of molecules, (3) the direction of chemical processes and chemical equilibrium, and (4) the classification of substances and their acid base, oxidizing-reducing, and other properties. All the substances in the Handbook are arranged in alphabetical order of their chemical formulas. The set for every element includes entries on both the ionic or molecular substances, and on the actions or anions formed by the element. This enables the book to offfer more information because the entry for an ion contains not only its characteristics, but also a description of the physiochemical properties of the compounds containing the ion, i.e., a whole group of compounds of a single type. The more important compounds are then given separate entries. The chemical formulas of the substances and their names (in English, French, German, Russian and Spanish) are given according to the rules of the IUPAC Commission on the Nomenclature of Inorganic Chemistry and are to be considered the recommended ones. Information is given on how to prepare a substance in industry and in the laboratory, and on the employment of a substance in chemistry and engineering.

Book Reactivity of Inorganic Substances

Download or read book Reactivity of Inorganic Substances written by R. A. Lidin and published by Begell House Publishers. This book was released on 1996 with total page 925 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes data on more than 7,000 substances, chosen because of their scientific and technological importance. Each entry provides the chemical name of the substance uniquely reflecting its composition followed by a concise verbal characteristic of the substance including color, aggregate state, thermal stability specific features of its structure, solubility, specific features of its structure, solubility, reactivity, relation to most widely used solvents, specific properties, and more. Following are the methods of the substance synthesis on an industrial scale and under laboratory conditions, including the most important constants necessary for correct interpretation of the chemical properties and everyday practical use of the reactions, such as molar mass, density, melting, boiling, decomposition points, and so on. Finally, the numbered reaction equations are given in which the substance in question plays the part of the reactant. Such an arrangement makes the Handbook informative and of great value because it can answer any specific question as well as provide detailed information about the chemical properties of a substance. The book is invaluable to researchers, engineers, students, and others who have an immediate need to know the properties of substance so as to be able to make correct decisions in scientific or technological situations.

Book Handbook of Research on Water Sciences and Society

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Water Sciences and Society written by Vaseashta, Ashok and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-03-11 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water supports three basic pillars of our life and survival: safety, security, and sustainability. Hence, it is extremely important to revisit the fundamental characteristics of water in order to discover additional information and the characteristics water has that will help uncover pathways to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG) to reduce inequality and make cities and human settlements more inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Clean water is a critical component to meet such goals. While the fundamental physical and chemical properties of water continue to reveal new aspects, it is critical that we review these properties in the context of several recent applications and by case studies. The Handbook of Research on Water Sciences and Society provides the basics of water science, ways to sense/detect and mitigate contaminants, several regional case studies, and societal aspects of water, including the human right to access water. The book serves as a comprehensive knowledge base on the latest fundamental and applied research and scientific innovations regarding the relationships between society and water resources, safe and sustainable use of water, watershed stewardship, industrial application, and public health awareness. Covering a wide range of topics, it is an ideal resource for researchers, professionals, policymakers, scientists, practitioners, instructors, and students.

Book Thermochemical properties of inorganic substances

Download or read book Thermochemical properties of inorganic substances written by I. Barin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 950 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the practical application of thermochemistry to the development and control of tech nical processes, the data for as many substances as possible are needed in conjunction with rapid and simple methods of calculating equilibrium constants, heat balances and the EMF of galvanic cells. For these three types of calculation the following three ther modynamic functions are suitable: The Planck function, the enthalpy and the Gibbs free energy, which are here defined and tabulated as unambigous functions of temperature for pure substances. The first edition of the tables was published in 1973 under the title "Thermochemical Properties of Inorganic Substances". The present supplementary volume contains the data and functions for a further 800 inorganic substances. In addition, the data for about 250 substances from the first volume have been up-dated. These usually small corrections produce better consistency with the data from more recent publications. The comments of users and reviewers of the first volume have largely been concerned with the difference between the present thermodynamic functions and the system used in the JANAF tables, the somewhat unconventional handling of heat balances adopted here, the notation of cell reactions, the description of non-stoichiometric phases and the accuracy of the tabulated data. To answer these questions and criticims the theore tical concepts and the practical use of the tables are dealt with in more detail in the introduction, following the recommendation of some reviewers.
