Book Handbook of High Resolution Infrared Laboratory Spectra of Atmospheric Interest 1981

Download or read book Handbook of High Resolution Infrared Laboratory Spectra of Atmospheric Interest 1981 written by Aaron Goldman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The handbook presents spectra to be utilized for the detection and measurement of new constituents in the earth's atmosphere and to obtain data for common minor species with large gas amounts in the absorption cell (such as CH/sub 4/ and N/sub 2/O). These results can be applied in the identification of absorption features in atmospheric spectra determined over long atmospheric paths. The spectra were recorded with Fourier Transform Spectrometers which are more precise than grating spectrometers. Each molecule spectrum was plotted on two scales: a condensed scale covering the range from 75 to 300/cm in one frame, and an expanded view covering 20 or 10/cm per frame. Each plot contains the name of the molecule, chemical formula, the gas pressure, cell length, and estimated resolution of the spectrum.

Book Phosgene

    Book Details:
  • Author : T.A. Ryan
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 1996-05-24
  • ISBN : 9780080538808

Download or read book Phosgene written by T.A. Ryan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1996-05-24 with total page 929 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phosgene, COCl2 is a C1 chemical of major industrial importance. The annual production, worldwide, is more than 1 million tons; 90% of which is used in the manufacture of isocyanates and of polyurethane and polycarbonate resins. Phosgene is also extensively used as a synthetic reagent in organic chemistry, in particular in the preparation of acyl chlorides, chloroformate esters, organic carbonates and carbamoyl chlorides. Although more than 7000 papers have appeared on phosgene and some 1000 papers on its analogues, this is the first book on these interesting chemicals. It presents a critical treatise of phosgene, ranging from its discovery and subsequent use as a war gas to some potential applications of the material into the 21st century. It includes chapters on biological effects and industrial hygiene; on synthesis, formation and manufacture; analysis, uses, environmental effects, and physical and thermodynamic properties. Reactions with organic and inorganic materials are described. Four of the seventeen chapters are devoted to a description of the carbonyl halides (especially carbonyl difluoride) related to phosgene, and a special section deals collectively with the electronic structures of carbonyl halide molecules. Featuring the first-ever comprehensive discussion of the medical effects of phosgene poisoning and the most modern methods of treating exposure victims, the book will be of interest to historians and militarists and those working in the chemical industries (heavy chemicals, agricultural and pharmaceutical), university libraries, hospitals, medical research centres, museums, environmental research centres, poison units and health and safety institutions world-wide.

Book Molecules and Radiation

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jeffrey I. Steinfeld
  • Publisher : Courier Corporation
  • Release : 2005-06-10
  • ISBN : 0486441520
  • Pages : 514 pages

Download or read book Molecules and Radiation written by Jeffrey I. Steinfeld and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2005-06-10 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unified treatment introduces upper-level undergraduates and graduate students to the concepts and methods of modern molecular spectroscopy and their applications to quantum electronics, lasers, and related optical phenomena. Starting with a review of the prerequisite quantum mechanical background, the text examines atomic spectra and diatomic molecules, including the rotation and vibration of diatomic molecules and their electronic spectra. A discussion of rudimentary group theory advances to considerations of the rotational spectra of polyatomic molecules and their vibrational and electronic spectra; molecular beams, masers, and lasers; and a variety of forms of spectroscopy, including optical resonance spectroscopy, coherent transient spectroscopy, multiple-photon spectroscopy, and spectroscopy beyond molecular constants. The text concludes with a series of useful appendixes.

Book The Use of EOS for Studies of Atomospheric Physics

Download or read book The Use of EOS for Studies of Atomospheric Physics written by Jean-Charles Gille-Maisani and published by North Holland. This book was released on 1992 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with the atmosphere and how the understanding of its behavior could be facilitated by the observations and modeling of the interacting processes planned within the framework of the EOS program. The Earth Observing System (EOS) is a comprehensive scientific program aimed at observing the most important components of the Earth System, in order to develop the understanding of the basic processes that must be incorporated in comprehensive Earth System models. The contents are divided into four parts. Part 1 is an overview of the Earth Observing System concept and provides a general introduction to Earth System Science. Part 2 deals with the troposphere and includes a comprehensive introduction to the problems of tropospheric chemistry. The more traditional view of the troposphere as the stage for dynamics and meterology is also dealt with. The climate system is discussed in detail in Part 3, and includes the most important advances made in recent years in understanding some of these processes which have come from satellite observations. The final part deals with the middle atmosphere. The interest in ozone has made this region of the atmosphere the most closely studied in the last few years, in an attempt to establish how much of the changes in its composition may be attributable to natural variability and how much to anthropogenic influence.
