Book Dna Vaccines

    Book Details:
  • Author : Lane Scheiber
  • Publisher : iUniverse
  • Release : 2017-07-31
  • ISBN : 1532017227
  • Pages : 308 pages

Download or read book Dna Vaccines written by Lane Scheiber and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is under constant threat of a virus evolving into a global plague. To this point, there is no direct defense against a widespread viral infection. DNA Vaccines: Design of a Gene to Eradicate HIV offers an innovative and new strategy to combat deadly viral infections. Presented is the discovery of a unique identifier for HIV. Analysis of the transcription and translation mechanisms utilized by cells leads to exploring the function of nuclear transcription factor proteins as intracellular hunter-killer molecules aimed specifically at viral genomes. Utilizing amino acid-to-nucleotide binding characteristics, taking into account Watson-Crick binding, Hoogsteen grove binding, and Vander Waals forces, modifications to existing transcription factors binding sites are undertaken. Transcription factors are altered to specifically target the unique identifier of pathogenic viruses. Binding a transcription factor directly to a viral genome is intended to silence the genome, preventing transcription if embedded in the DNA or interfering with translation if the genome is present in a cells cytoplasm as RNA. This text describes the design of an intracellular courier gene technology to make cells defensible against HIV and other lethal pathogenic viral threats.

Book Numerical Modeling of Materials Under Extreme Conditions

Download or read book Numerical Modeling of Materials Under Extreme Conditions written by Nicola Bonora and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-09 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents twelve state of the art contributions in the field of numerical modeling of materials subjected to large strain, high strain rates, large pressure and high stress triaxialities, organized into two sections. The first part is focused on high strain rate-high pressures such as those occurring in impact dynamics and shock compression related phenomena, dealing with material response identification, advanced modeling incorporating microstructure and damage, stress waves propagation in solids and structures response under impact. The latter part is focused on large strain-low strain rates applications such as those occurring in technological material processing, dealing with microstructure and texture evolution, material response at elevated temperatures, structural behavior under large strain and multi axial state of stress.

Book MIMO Power Line Communications

Download or read book MIMO Power Line Communications written by Lars Torsten Berger and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the first publications of its kind in the exciting field of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) power line communications (PLC), MIMO Power Line Communications: Narrow and Broadband Standards, EMC, and Advanced Processing contains contributions from experts in industry and academia, making it practical enough to provide a solid understanding of how PLC technologies work, yet scientific enough to form a base for ongoing R&D activities. This book is subdivided into five thematic parts. Part I looks at narrow- and broadband channel characterization based on measurements from around the globe. Taking into account current regulations and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), part II describes MIMO signal processing strategies and related capacity and throughput estimates. Current narrow- and broadband PLC standards and specifications are described in the various chapters of part III. Advanced PLC processing options are treated in part IV, drawing from a wide variety of research areas such as beamforming/precoding, time reversal, multi-user processing, and relaying. Lastly, part V contains case studies and field trials, where the advanced technologies of tomorrow are put into practice today. Suitable as a reference or a handbook, MIMO Power Line Communications: Narrow and Broadband Standards, EMC, and Advanced Processing features self-contained chapters with extensive cross-referencing to allow for a flexible reading path.

Book General Problems

Download or read book General Problems written by Oskar Lange and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political Economy, Volume I: General Problems provides a systematic treatise on political economy. This book discusses the state of economic science and the course of economic development in different parts of the world. Organized into seven chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the social or political economy as the study of social laws governing the production and distribution of the material means of satisfying human needs. This text then examines the basic regularity encountered by political economy in its analysis of the social laws governing human economic activity, which is formed by the dependence of production relations on social productive forces. Other chapters consider the objective character of economic laws. This book discusses as well the concern of economic history in the development of concrete economic progress. The final chapter deals with the differences of opinions and interpretations in the development of science. Economists will find this book useful.
