Book excerpt: Hahnemann Revisited - A Textbook of Classical Homeopathy For the Professional, has served as a guiding light for homeopaths around the world since publication in 1999, and has become the authoritative textbook for homeopathic education. It has been translated into seven languages and is a magnificent treatise covering Homeopathy's foundations, healing process, and the true hereditary factors in medicine - the chronic miasms. Written in an engaging style by a world renowned homeopath who has successfully practiced his art of medicine throughout both the industrialized and less developed countries of the world, this is the first complete, comprehensive modern homeopathic textbook. Some topics covered include: miasmatic prescribing, LM potencies, prioritizing symptoms, using the timeline, the "Never Well Since," case management, adjusting for hypersensitives, nosodes, constitutions, as well as an explanation of Homeopathy and Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is organized into: 25 chapters, 5 appendices (including forms for the practice, sample cases and an extensive chart of symptoms and their miasms), and includes 44 diagrams. Hahnemann Revisited provides its readers insights in the mind, body, and soul of the individual; detailing the true basis of health and dysfunction in the spirit Hahnemann intended. This textbook is timeless and will be groundbreaking for generations to come.

Book Advanced Guide for Professional Homeopaths

Download or read book Advanced Guide for Professional Homeopaths written by Luc De Schepper and published by . This book was released on 2008-05-01 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Advanced Guide for Professional Homeopaths completes the trio of valuable reference books for the professional homeopath. Building on previous works, Hahnemann Revisited and Achieving and Maintaining the Simillimum, this book will help homeopaths overcome challenging obstacles to their own difficult cases. The topics of potency selection and miasms are revisited to make them practical for the homeopathic practice, suggesting a golden middle way, a path about results instead of passions. New topics are also presented: 11 questions the practitioner must ask him or herself in order to find the simillimum with maximum confidence. The epidemic of "special needs children" that we are witnessing at this time is addressed with a chapter focusing on the intrauterine experience. Herings observations are amplified with additions, either from the practice or from other modalities such as psychology and Traditional Chinese Medicine. And this book builds the bridge to the next book, which explains the most interesting and advanced method to find the simillimum by using Carl Jung's definition of a core delusion, plus the patient's etiology and their compensations.

Book excerpt: The popularity of homeopathy has been increasing dramatically both in America and worldwide. Annual world sales of homeopathic remedies are approaching two billion dollars. In this thorough examination of homeopathy, physicist Jay W. Shelton analyzes the history, the remedies, the logical inconsistencies, and the effectiveness of this popular alternative medicine. Invented by German physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), homeopathy is based on two key principles: (1) the law of similars--symptoms induced in healthy volunteers after ingestion of a substance are the same symptoms in sick people that this substance will cure; and (2) the concept of "potentization"--the most diluted remedies have the greatest curative power. Shelton clearly shows that although these principles may have had the ring of science in the early 19th century, they are not well supported by today's science. And yet, most patients who visit homeopaths are better afterwards. Homeopaths assume the remedies are the cause. Shelton finds explanations based on known science to be better supported by the evidence. Unassisted natural healing, changes in lifestyle urged by the homeopath, the placebo effect, and cessation of harmful treatments are more probable causes of improved health. This being the case, he pursues the question why so many people continue to believe that the remedies themselves are responsible. Among the contributing factors Shelton notes: the plausible-sounding explanations of homeopathic theory, a fundamental misunderstanding among homeopaths of science and its methods, and, ultimately, the poor quality of education in critical thinking and science. This reasoned, balanced, and in-depth assessment will interest both homeopaths and conventional medical practitioners, as well as consumers curious about a well-known and much-publicized alternative medicine.
