Book Bottom Hadrons from Lattice QCD with Domain Wall and NRQCD Fermions

Download or read book Bottom Hadrons from Lattice QCD with Domain Wall and NRQCD Fermions written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamical 2+1 flavor lattice QCD is used to calculate the masses of bottom hadrons, including B mesons, singly and doubly bottom baryons, and for the first time also the triply-bottom baryon Omega{sub bbb}. The domain wall action is used for the up-, down-, and strange quarks (both valence and sea), while the bottom quark is implemented with non-relativistic QCD. A calculation of the bottomonium spectrum is also presented.

Book Excited Nucleons and Hadronic Structure

Download or read book Excited Nucleons and Hadronic Structure written by V. Burkert and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The conference NSTAR 2000 was part of a series of conferences and workshops that began in New York in 1988. Since then, the field of excited nucleons and hadron structure has developed enormously, and the scope has broadened. Most significantly, new experimental facilities have come into operation, allowing precise measurements of resonance couplings and transition form factors. The search for ?missing? quark model states and gluonic excitations in complex hadronic channels is now possible. On the theory side, new and promising developments have emerged: quark models with meson degrees of freedom, hybrid baryon models, and studies of baryons in the limit of many colors. For the first time, lattice QCD has been employed to calculate masses of excited nucleons. Nucleon resonances are now recognized as providing significant contributions to the nucleon spin sum rules, as well as the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn and Bjorken integrals, at finite momentum transfer.

Book Structure of Nucleon Excited States from Lattice QCD

Download or read book Structure of Nucleon Excited States from Lattice QCD written by Finn M. Stokes and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-20 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) describes the interactions between elementary quarks and gluons as they compose the nucleons at the heart of atomic structure. The interactions give rise to complexity that can only be examined via numerical simulations on supercomputers. This work provides an introduction to the numerical simulations of lattice QCD and establishes new formalisms relevant to understanding the structure of nucleons and their excited states. The research opens with an examination of the non-trivial QCD vacuum and the emergence of “centre domains.” The focus then turns to establishing a novel Parity-Expanded Variational Analysis (PEVA) technique solving the important problem of isolating baryon states moving with finite momentum. This seminal work provides a foundation for future calculations of baryon properties. Implementation of the PEVA formalism discloses important systematic errors in conventional calculations and reveals the structure of nucleon excited states from the first principles of QCD for the first time.

Book Light Hadron Spectroscopy Using Domain Wall Valence Quarks on a Asqtad Sea

Download or read book Light Hadron Spectroscopy Using Domain Wall Valence Quarks on a Asqtad Sea written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a calculation of the light-hadron spectrum in full QCD using three-flavor Asqtad sea quarks and domain wall valence quarks. Calculations of meson masses, meson and baryon masses are performed on a lattice of spatial size $L\simeq 2.5$~fm, and a lattice spacing of $a \simeq 0.124$~fm, for pion masses as light as $m_\pi \sim 300$~MeV. Extrapolation of baryon masses to the physical pion mass is studied using continuum and mixed action heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory for two and three flavors. The success and limitations of chiral perturbation theory with these extrapolations is discussed.

Book Hadron Spectrum with Domain wall Valence Quarks on an Improved Staggered Sea

Download or read book Hadron Spectrum with Domain wall Valence Quarks on an Improved Staggered Sea written by Robert Edwards and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The hadron spectrum is computed in full QCD using domain-wall valence fermions on an improved staggered sea, for pion masses down to around $350{approx}(/rm MeV)$. Emphasis is laid on the low-lying baryon spectrum. All possible baryon correlators obtainable from local and quasi-local quark sources are computed, using lattice group-theory methods Results are presented for the lowest-lying states in each isospin channel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first open access volume of the handbook series contains articles on the standard model of particle physics, both from the theoretical and experimental perspective. It also covers related topics, such as heavy-ion physics, neutrino physics and searches for new physics beyond the standard model. A joint CERN-Springer initiative, the "Particle Physics Reference Library" provides revised and updated contributions based on previously published material in the well-known Landolt-Boernstein series on particle physics, accelerators and detectors (volumes 21A, B1,B2,C), which took stock of the field approximately one decade ago. Central to this new initiative is publication under full open access
