Book Theory of H superscript p spaces

Download or read book Theory of H superscript p spaces written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1970-07-31 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of HP spaces has its origins in discoveries made forty or fifty years ago by such mathematicians as G. H. Hardy, J. E. Littlewood, I. I. Privalov, F. and M. Riesz, V. Smirnov, and G. Szego. Most of this early work is concerned with the properties of individual functions of class HP, and is classical in spirit. In recent years, the development of functional analysis has stimulated new interest in the HP classes as linear spaces. This point of viewhas suggested a variety of natural problems and has provided new methods of attack, leading to important advances in the theory. This book is an account of both aspects of the subject, the classical and the modern. It is intended to provide a convenient source for the older parts of the theory (the work of Hardy and Littlewood, for example), as well as to give a self-contained exposition of more recent developments such as Beurling's theorem on invariant subspaces, the Macintyre-RogosinskiShapiro-Havinson theory of extremal problems, interpolation theory, the dual space structure of HP with p

Book The Theory of H b Spaces Volume 2

Download or read book The Theory of H b Spaces Volume 2 written by Emmanuel Fricain and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-10-20 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An H(b) space is defined as a collection of analytic functions that are in the image of an operator. The theory of H(b) spaces bridges two classical subjects, complex analysis and operator theory, which makes it both appealing and demanding. Volume 1 of this comprehensive treatment is devoted to the preliminary subjects required to understand the foundation of H(b) spaces, such as Hardy spaces, Fourier analysis, integral representation theorems, Carleson measures, Toeplitz and Hankel operators, various types of shift operators and Clark measures. Volume 2 focuses on the central theory. Both books are accessible to graduate students as well as researchers: each volume contains numerous exercises and hints, and figures are included throughout to illustrate the theory. Together, these two volumes provide everything the reader needs to understand and appreciate this beautiful branch of mathematics.

They provide the researcher with an up-to-date overview of this exciting branch of mathematics.

Book Spaces of Constant Curvature

Download or read book Spaces of Constant Curvature written by Joseph Albert Wolf and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2011 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the sixth edition of the classic Spaces of Constant Curvature, first published in 1967, with the previous (fifth) edition published in 1984. It illustrates the high degree of interplay between group theory and geometry. The reader will benefit from the very concise treatments of riemannian and pseudo-riemannian manifolds and their curvatures, of the representation theory of finite groups, and of indications of recent progress in discrete subgroups of Lie groups. Part I is a brief introduction to differentiable manifolds, covering spaces, and riemannian and pseudo-riemannian geometry. It also contains a certain amount of introductory material on symmetry groups and space forms, indicating the direction of the later chapters. Part II is an updated treatment of euclidean space form. Part III is Wolf's classic solution to the Clifford-Klein Spherical Space Form Problem. It starts with an exposition of the representation theory of finite groups. Part IV introduces riemannian symmetric spaces and extends considerations of spherical space forms to space forms of riemannian symmetric spaces. Finally, Part V examines space form problems on pseudo-riemannian symmetric spaces. At the end of Chapter 12 there is a new appendix describing some of the recent work on discrete subgroups of Lie groups with application to space forms of pseudo-riemannian symmetric spaces. Additional references have been added to this sixth edition as well.

Book A First Course in Fractional Sobolev Spaces

Download or read book A First Course in Fractional Sobolev Spaces written by Giovanni Leoni and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2023-04-12 with total page 605 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a gentle introduction to fractional Sobolev spaces which play a central role in the calculus of variations, partial differential equations, and harmonic analysis. The first part deals with fractional Sobolev spaces of one variable. It covers the definition, standard properties, extensions, embeddings, Hardy inequalities, and interpolation inequalities. The second part deals with fractional Sobolev spaces of several variables. The author studies completeness, density, homogeneous fractional Sobolev spaces, embeddings, necessary and sufficient conditions for extensions, Gagliardo-Nirenberg type interpolation inequalities, and trace theory. The third part explores some applications: interior regularity for the Poisson problem with the right-hand side in a fractional Sobolev space and some basic properties of the fractional Laplacian. The first part of the book is accessible to advanced undergraduates with a strong background in integration theory; the second part, to graduate students having familiarity with measure and integration and some functional analysis. Basic knowledge of Sobolev spaces would help, but is not necessary. The book can also serve as a reference for mathematicians working in the calculus of variations and partial differential equations as well as for researchers in other disciplines with a solid mathematics background. It contains several exercises and is self-contained.
