Book Maintenance and Repair of Concrete and Masonry Structures

Download or read book Maintenance and Repair of Concrete and Masonry Structures written by J. D. Fuller and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Existing and revised methods used for pressure grouting cracked concrete and masonry were studied. Hand gun and pressure tank grout injecting equipment were studied as well as epoxy resin grouts. Job site visitations, laboratory, and controlled field tests were used as mechanisms to perform the evaluations. As a result of studying existing grouting techniques, materials and methods were selected for use in the laboratory and field. The best characterisitcs of several grouting methods were combined to develop a new technique. Grouting materials were selected on the basis of viscosity and bonding capabilities. Three systems were used for study. Field studies led to personal evaluation of equipment and techniques as well as to physical evaluation of depth of penetration and effectiveness of repair. Laboratory studies led to curves providing an estimate of flow rate of a grout within a given crack width as a function of grout viscosity. A Guide for Pressure Grouting Cracked Concrete and Masonry Structures with Epoxy Resins was prepared. (Author-PL).

Book The Grouting Handbook

Download or read book The Grouting Handbook written by Donald M. Harrison and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-05-31 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Minimize loss of revenue and the downtime of critical assets by avoiding foundation cracking, poor bonds, and initial alignment changes. After their successful introduction as a maintenance material, machinery grouts are now being used for equipment placement in new construction. While certainly suitable for both markets and applications, a successful installation depends on proper grout selection, application, foundation preparation, and forming methods. Therefore, guidelines on their uses and limitations are needed for engineers and maintenance personnel. Based on 45 years of field experience, The Grouting Handbook collects a vast amount of information into a practical and user-friendly reference for mechanical and civil engineers. The book focuses on four basic elements of grouting: The soil and its load-carrying capability; The foundation and its mass, design, concrete mix, installation and curing procedures; Anchor bolt technology, design and installation; Epoxy grout comparison, material selection and installation. From the ground up, The Grouting Handbook takes you step by step through the grouting process. Clear, straightforward directions give you details on preparing the foundation and surface and selecting the best material and method. Comprehensive yet concise, this is a convenient handbook for veteran and rookie engineers alike. Organizes a comprehensive amount of information into an easy-to-use reference Provides advice for selecting the proper grouting material and method for the task at hand Contains tips and practical solutions for common problems

Book Engineering Properties of Epoxy Resin as a Structural Adhesive for Cracked Reinforced Concrete Waterfront Facilities

Download or read book Engineering Properties of Epoxy Resin as a Structural Adhesive for Cracked Reinforced Concrete Waterfront Facilities written by William R. Lorman and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The assessment of information in the technical literature pertaining to the engineering properties of epoxy resin, as an adhesive material for injection under pressure into cracks in USN reinforced concrete waterfront facilities as a means of restoring structural integrity, covers the period from 1950 to 1975. The review reveals that the available engineering data suffice for establishing a practical guide for civil engineers concerned with such application of epoxy resin. The report condenses a multitude of facts, quantifies the range of values relative to the physical characteristics of hardened epoxy resin, outlines the essentials of approaching a structural bonding problem, and briefly describes the procedure for consolidating a cracked concrete structural member by pressurized injection of epoxy resin. The report pertains to crack repairs that are essential for the stability of concrete waterfront structures; it is not intended to deal with sealing cracks and joints either against penetration of foreign matter or to prevent leakage.
