Book Design of anchorages in concrete

Download or read book Design of anchorages in concrete written by fib Fédération internationale du béton and published by fib Fédération internationale du béton. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the widespread use of cast-in-place and post-installed anchors in construction, the overall level of understanding in the engineering community regarding their behaviour remains quite limited. Furthermore, since the publication of the original CEB design guide, “Design of Fastenings in Concrete”, ongoing research and additional application experience has led to an improved understanding and deepened knowledge in various areas of fastening technology. fib Bulletin 58 therefore represents a substantial revision of the original 1997 guide. It addresses a variety of loading types and failure modes and takes into account the current state of the art for anchorages in new construction as well as for their use in the repair and strengthening of existing concrete structures. fib Bulletin 58 provides a method for the design of the anchorage and additional rules for the design of the concrete member to which the load is transferred. The specified provisions are based on the currently available research.

Book Structural Design Guide to the ACI Building Code

Download or read book Structural Design Guide to the ACI Building Code written by Edward S. Hoffman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to guide practicing structural engineers familiar with ear lier ACI building codes into more profitable routine designs with the ACI 1995 Building Code (ACI 318-95). Each new ACI Building Code expresses the latest knowledge of reinforced concrete in legal language for safe design application. Beginning in 1956 with the introduction of ultimate strength design, each new code offered better uti lization of high-strength reinforcement and the compressive strength of the con crete itself. Each new code thus permitted more economy as to construction material, but achieved it through more detailed and complicated design calcula tions. In addition to competition requiring independent structural engineers to follow the latest code for economy, it created a professional obligation to fol low the latest code for accepted levels of structural safety. The increasing complexity of codes has encouraged the use of computers for design and has stimulated the development of computer-based handbooks. Before computer software can be successfully used in the structural design of buildings, preliminary sizes of structural elements must be established from handbook tables, estimates, or experienced first guesses for input into the com puter.

Book Footings Manual Pre designed Foundation and Anchorage for Single Story Buildings

Download or read book Footings Manual Pre designed Foundation and Anchorage for Single Story Buildings written by Gilliam Harris and published by McGraw-Hill Education. This book was released on 2015-12-30 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complete, shovel-ready construction plans and design information for single story footings and foundations of any size, using any materials Single story buildings often have shallow foundations, called “footings,” that transfer weight to the ground. Engineers must design these footings, along with a reinforced concrete foundation. This is an arduous process, requiring a great deal of time and many complex calculations. Footings Manual: Pre-designed Foundations and Anchorage for Single Story Buildings simplifies this process and helps save you time and money while increasing efficiency and quality. This practical guide offers pre-calculated design tables and ready-to-build construction plans—all requiring minimal to no math. Materials specs are included to assist you in accurate budgeting and estimating. All plans include data for multiple concrete strengths and varying loads—not just gravity—and are applicable to single story structures of any size. You’ll also get soil data, welding information, and design aides for reinforcing bars. Features pre-calculated tables, diagrams, and ready-to-build plans All data is based on the latest 2015 International Building Code Designs include options for multiple strengths of concrete, and for all types of loads
