Download or read book Guest Who S Sleeping in My Bed written by Kitty Logic and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Will my bed accommodate their love for schnitzel? I discover later that fourteen pancakes are not enough for my German friends. One roll of toilet paper for two people should last two to three days. I am wrong. I left the plastic mouse in their bed by accident. They said nothing, yet they left the mouse in the made bed when they left. I love them. Thank you for hurling your dirty shoes on my bed. You are a class act. I love the guest bedroom; it smells like a middle school locker room. It reminds me of cheerleading . . . in a bad way. I have developed supersonic hearing. When I hear that first toilet flush in the morning, I know its showtime! High heels, slap on that fall, don my apron, apply lip gloss, and serve that breakfast with a smile. What song will I sing? What stories will I tell? Dang! They do not speak English. No worries. My mime experience is always a hit.

Book excerpt: A haunting and psychologically driven collection from Shirley Jackson that includes her best-known story "The Lottery" At last, Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" enters Penguin Classics, sixty-five years after it shocked America audiences and elicited the most responses of any piece in New Yorker history. In her gothic visions of small-town America, Jackson, the author of such masterworks as The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle, turns an ordinary world into a supernatural nightmare. This eclectic collection goes beyond her horror writing, revealing the full spectrum of her literary genius. In addition to Come Along with Me, Jackson's unfinished novel about the quirky inner life of a lonely widow, it features sixteen short stories and three lectures she delivered during her last years. For more than seventy years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 1,700 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Readers trust the series to provide authoritative texts enhanced by introductions and notes by distinguished scholars and contemporary authors, as well as up-to-date translations by award-winning translators. Download or read book Finding Happiness in Los Angeles written by Oliver Markus Malloy and published by Bookmaester. This book was released on with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you're a fan of Dave Chappelle or John Oliver, you'll love this book. After writing a book about his bizarre adventures in America's underbelly, Oliver finally finds love among his readers on Goodreads. "I think it will become a standard for people who are dealing with loved ones struggling with addictions." ★★★★★ - B. Bridges, Amazon Review Dear Reader, You're a little late to the party. Where the hell have you been? This is already the third and final part of the trilogy, and you're only joining us now? Tsk tsk tsk. Let me get you up to speed on what you've missed so far: In book one, Going to New York, you missed the utterly fascinating, nay spellbinding saga of me growing up in Germany and later emigrating to New York. I was a brooding, troubled teenage hacker. Wow! Good stuff! It's almost like my life was the perfect kind of crazy to make a really awesome book! Anyway, being a teenage hacker came in handy later in life. I went from rags to riches thanks to my keen understanding of technology and how to use the web to my advantage. In New York I was married to Donna, a girl I had met online. She was an agoraphobic, prone to temper tantrums. And fun was had by all, which led to a divorce 16 years later. That's where the story gets really interesting. I began dating. It didn't go well. I was no good at it. OK, truth be told, I was really bad at it. Apparently I had terrible taste in women. A heroin-addicted hooker named Alice broke my heart and robbed me of my will to live. Doesn't sound very fun, does it? But it's a fun read, I promise. Dark, but fun. Mesmerizing even! Brokenhearted, I moved from New York to Florida. That's where the first book ends. The second book you missed (I'm not mad at you. I'm just disappointed.) is called The Heroin Scene in Fort Myers, which is a very fitting title, believe me. Sometimes I'm a slow learner, so I dated my way through the heroin scene in Florida, and I couldn't figure out for years why I wasn't finding any wife material. But oh how I tried. And tried. In all the wrong places. Pretty sad. I'm not proud of it. After years of sad pathetic sex with heroin addicts I was a wreck. My younger self wouldn't have even recognized me. Lucy and Veronica had turned me into a broken, humiliated shell of a man. My heart had been ripped out of my chest so many times, it was a miracle I hadn't killed myself yet. (Seriously, it's a fun read. I promise!) At the end of the book I had it up to here with heroin addicts. I told myself never again would I let myself be sucked in by the sweet lies of manipulative, fake love. The name of the final chapter was NO MO HO. No more whores. I needed to change my life before my life was going to kill me. I hopped on a plane, back to my native Germany, to lick my wounds and heal before returning to America. That's where the second book ended. And now, for our third and final act...

This book was released on 2024-05-28 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the vacations, I was traveling, working and doing sports every day. After the vacations, I suddenly look like a new person: shorter hair, slimmer figure, but the guy I like now has a girlfriend. My summer was actually pretty good, with a few exceptions of course, but now I want to go back to school even less. At school, it's one topic after another and when Simon enters the classroom, it's clear that my changes aren't the only drama this year. But the biggest surprise awaits me after school when I meet Professor Monroe in the empty auditorium. There is a crackle of unspoken tension and unexpected compliments between us. His closeness throws me off balance and raises questions I would never have dared to ask myself. As I try to heal my broken heart and cope with the new school year, I have no idea that the biggest challenge still lies ahead.

Book excerpt: A kidnapping gone wrong. A chronically ill child. And a union nobody sees coming…except the barrel of a gun. Quin Hedger is a rare breed. He’s a doctor who grew up on a ranch, with four brothers, a pious mother and a father who left this earth not long ago. Quin is hard-working, has a heart of gold, and will do anything for any of his patients, namely one. Getting little Trinity a new kidney isn’t any easy task, but he’s been at it since she was a baby and he isn’t giving up, not even when her corrupt Uncle arranges an ill-fated kidnapping that has a sudden twist. Whitney has raised Trinity all but on her own. Trinity’s father left when he couldn’t handle dealing with a sick child, but thankfully her brother Peter is there to sweep up the bits and fill the gaps…until he’s more trouble than he’s worth. Trinity’s doctor, who insists on being called ‘Dr. Quin’ as a kind sentiment, has always put her daughter front and center, so it tugs at both their heartstrings when they have to watch her health start to deteriorate. When Trinity’s father surprises Quin and Whitney, they’re led down a path of hope, only to be let down once again, as Trinity lays in hospital, missing out on her young life. Although hopeful, Quin keeps hitting brick walls in his quest to find what the little girl needs, and in doing so, he also finds what he’s always needed, but he can’t have both until the one he loves can love again. It’s a slippery slope and a tricky one at best. And when Quin finally sees the fog clear, he finds himself looking down the barrel of a gun.
