This book was released on 2022-12-09 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comparatively assesses the China and India’s soft power strategy in Iran. Based on this theory, this book seeks explanations for the question of “How China and India respectively, strategically and comparatively use the soft power strategy in Iran?”. To reach the find-out, this book compares the understanding, resources, strategies, influences and uses of China and India’s soft power in Iran under three thematic areas, including “power of bonding through cultural attractions, and attributions”; ‎“political and diplomatic engagement” and “economic partnerships”. By analysing China and India’s soft power strategy in Iran, this book ‎seeks to contribute to the soft power literature through a theoretical replication based ‎on non-Western soft power strategy, the concept and its empirical application in China and India.

Book Social Housing in the Middle East

Download or read book Social Housing in the Middle East written by Mohammad Gharipour and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2019-03-01 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As oil-rich countries in the Middle East are increasingly associated with soaring skyscrapers and modern architecture, attention is being diverted away from the pervasive struggles of social housing in those same urban settings. Social Housing in the Middle East traces the history of social housing—both gleaming postmodern projects and bare-bones urban housing structures—in an effort to provide a wider understanding of marginalized spaces and their impact on identities, communities, and class. While architects may have envisioned utopian or futuristic experiments, these buildings were often constructed with the knowledge and skill sets of local workers, and the housing was in turn adapted to suit the modern needs of residents. This tension between local needs and national aspirations are linked to issues of global importance, including security, migration, and refugee resettlement. The essays collected here consider how culture, faith, and politics influenced the solutions offered by social housing; they provide an insightful look at how social housing has evolved since the 19th century and how it will need to adapt to suit the 21st.

Book Handbook of Research on Aestheticization of Violence Horror and Power

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Aestheticization of Violence Horror and Power written by Erdem, M. Nur and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-10-02 with total page 696 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Individuals seek ways to repress the sense of violence within themselves and often resort to medial channels. The hunger of the individual for violence is a trigger for the generation of violent content by media, owners of political power, owners of religious power, etc. However, this content is produced considering the individual’s sensitivities. Thus, violence is aestheticized. Aesthetics of violence appear in different fields and in different forms. In order to analyze it, an interdisciplinary perspective is required. The Handbook of Research on Aestheticization of Violence, Horror, and Power brings together two different concepts that seem incompatible—aesthetics and violence—and focuses on the basic motives of aestheticizing and presenting violence in different fields and genres, as well as the role of audience reception. Seeking to reveal this togetherness with different methods, research, analyses, and findings in different fields that include media, urban design, art, and mythology, the book covers the aestheticization of fear, power, and violence in such mediums as public relations, digital games, and performance art. This comprehensive reference is an ideal source for researchers, academicians, and students working in the fields of media, culture, art, politics, architecture, aesthetics, history, cultural anthropology, and more.

Book Maintaining International Relations Through Digital Public Diplomacy Policies and Discourses

Download or read book Maintaining International Relations Through Digital Public Diplomacy Policies and Discourses written by Elita?, Türker and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-11-04 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communication technologies have become an important tool for instantaneous effects and reactions both individually and collectively. The fact that traditional discourses become digital by transferring them through tools heralded a new understanding of digital in individual and social networks. The tendency to use these features offered by communication technologies in international relations, rather than just individual use, has emerged as a result of being built over digital in their discourse on diplomacy. However, the concepts of transparency and public offering, which do not exist in classical democracy, clearly show themselves in digital public diplomacy. Maintaining International Relations Through Digital Public Diplomacy Policies and Discourses reveals the tendencies of countries, institutions, and their representatives to use communication technologies as a diplomatic tool in international relations practices. It reveals the difference between the discourses built on digital media and classical diplomacy. Covering topics such as crisis management, new media platforms, and international relations, this premier reference source is an excellent resource for government officials, diplomats, social media managers, communications professionals, students and faculty of higher education, libraries, researchers, and academicians.
