Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 32 (thesis year 1987) a total of 12,483 theses titles from 22 Canadian and 176 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 32 reports theses submitted in 1987, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book High Population Planting patterns for Maximum Yield in Field Corn

Download or read book High Population Planting patterns for Maximum Yield in Field Corn written by Surapon Oupadissakoon and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The influence of planting patterns and plant spacings on grain yield in field corn (Zea mays) was studied at the Oregon State University Botany and Plant Pathology Field Laboratory near Corvallis, Oregon in 1969. Plant characteristics and yield components studied included plant height, ear height, number of ears, ear weight and weight of 100 kernels. All factors seem to be influenced by spacing rather than planting pattern. Grain yield and plant height increased with increasing plant density until an optimum density was reached. Further increased in density reduced yield and plant height. Ear height tended to increase as plant density increased. Number of ears, ear weight and kernel weight decreased with increasing plant density. Grain yield was directly associated with plant height and kernel weight while kernel weight was directly correlated with number of ears and ear weight.

Book Plant Population and Row Spacing Influence Maximum Corn Yield

Download or read book Plant Population and Row Spacing Influence Maximum Corn Yield written by F. D. Whitaker and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study was conducted in 1965 and 1966 on a fertile Sharon silt loam near Elsberry. Missouri, to determine the maximum yield response of corn for different levels of plant population and now widths, using two hybrids. Adequate fertilizer and irrigation were applied as needed to limit the study to the above variabels. Analysis of corn leaf and whose-plant samples showed that plant nutrition was nor a variable. Adequate soil water was maintained so that the plants were nor under severe water stress after the seedling stage. Other climatic conditions such as cold, wer periods during the early growing season and above-average temperatures during silking and ear-shoot formation limited the yields to below the maximum potential for this area. It is believed, however, that the differences in yield response to the various treatments are representative. Average grain yields from the Pionner 321 hybrid corn were highest from the 24,000- and 20,000- plants populations and 30-inch row widths. The average yields for the 2 years was 159 bushels per acre both populations.(...).

Book Maize Crop

Download or read book Maize Crop written by A. Solaimalai and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-05-10 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maize is one of the versatile emerging crops with wider adaptability under varied agro-climatic conditions. Globally, maize is known as queen of cereals because it has the highest genetic yield potential among the cereals. It is cultivated on nearly 150 m/ha in about 160 countries having wider diversity of soil, climate, biodiversity and management practices that contributes 36 % (782 m/t) in the global grain production. The United States of America (USA) is the largest producer of maize contributes nearly 35 % of the total production in the world. It is the driver of the US economy. This book talks about the improvement, production, protection and post harvest technology of the maize crop. Note: T& F does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
