Book Artificial Recharge of Ground Water II

Download or read book Artificial Recharge of Ground Water II written by Arnold Ivan Johnson and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 952 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This interdisciplinary compilation of papers features recent developments of various types of artificial recharge, as well as both successful and unsuccessful case histories of projects from twenty-three countries and numerous states. Contributing engineers and scientists exchange their experiences and findings to promote the transfer of information between developed and underdeveloped countries and to provide an educational resource for communication with those who are not water scientists, such as planners, lawyers, regulators, and the public in general. Directions by which cities or other governments can save funds by having reasonable technical guidelines for implementation of a recharge project are suggested. Surface- and well-type recharge; aquifer storage and recovery; wastewater and storm water recharge; salt water intrusion control; water quality impacts; well clogging and recharge to hard rock aquifers are addressed."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book Ground Water Recharge Using Waters of Impaired Quality

Download or read book Ground Water Recharge Using Waters of Impaired Quality written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1994-02-01 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As demand for water increases, water managers and planners will need to look widely for ways to improve water management and augment water supplies. This book concludes that artificial recharge can be one option in an integrated strategy to optimize total water resource management and that in some cases impaired-quality water can be used effectively as a source for artificial recharge of ground water aquifers. Source water quality characteristics, pretreatment and recharge technologies, transformations during transport through the soil and aquifer, public health issues, economic feasibility, and legal and institutional considerations are addressed. The book evaluates three main types of impaired quality water sourcesâ€"treated municipal wastewater, stormwater runoff, and irrigation return flowâ€"and describes which is the most consistent in terms of quality and quantity. Also included are descriptions of seven recharge projects.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Letter enclosed dated July 21, 1978 stating: In March 1978 you received a copy of the report "Methods of estimating recharge to the Floridan aquifer in northeast Florida," by G.G. Phelps, which was prepared by the Geological Survey in cooperation with the city of Jacksonville. Unfortunately, some discrepancies were found in the report after publication. The report has been reprinted and a copy of the report is enclosed. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you. Sincerely, Clyde S. Conover District Chief.

Book Artificial Recharge of Groundwater

Download or read book Artificial Recharge of Groundwater written by Takashi Asano and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-22 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial Recharge of Groundwater focuses on artificial recharge of groundwater basins as a means to increase the natural supply of groundwater, along with the technical issues involved. Special emphasis is placed on the use of reclaimed municipal wastewater as a source for artificial recharge of groundwater. This book is comprised of 26 chapters organized into five sections. After reviewing the state of the art of artificial recharge of groundwater, the discussion turns to the fundamental aspects of groundwater recharge, including the role of artificial recharge in groundwater basin management, recharge methods, hydraulics, monitoring, and modeling. The next section considers pretreatment processes for wastewater and renovation of wastewater with rapid-infiltration land treatment systems and describes the health effects of wastewater reuse in groundwater recharge. A number of artificial recharge operations using reclaimed wastewater are then highlighted, focusing on cases in various countries including Israel, Germany, Poland, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United States. The remaining chapters look at the extent of contaminant removal by the soil system and the fate of micropollutants during groundwater recharge as well as the legal and economic aspects of groundwater recharge. Research needs for groundwater quality management are also explored. This monograph is written for civil and sanitary engineers, agricultural engineers, hydrologists, environmental scientists, and research scientists as well as public works officials, consulting engineers, agriculturalists, industrialists, and students at colleges and universities.

Book Groundwater Recharge and Wells

Download or read book Groundwater Recharge and Wells written by R. David G. Pyne and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding the issues that have been encountered at other sites, and the steps that have led to successful resolution of these issues, can provide great help to those considering, planning, or implementing new groundwater recharge projects. Recent technical advances and operational experience have demonstrated that well recharge is a feasible and cost effective method of artificially recharging natural aquifers. This practical guide reviews the technical constraints and issues that have been addressed and resolved through research and experience at many sites. The book presents aquifer storage recovery (ASR) technology and traces its evolution over the past 25 years in the United States. Procedures for groundwater recharge are presented, and selected case studies are examined. Drinking water quality standards and conversion factors are provided in the appendix for easy reference.
