Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no denying the "awesomeness" of Grandpas. Whether you call them your Grandfather, Gramps, Papa, Peepaw, Granddad, Grumps, and/or any other weird name (that you invented when you were a toddler because you could not pronounce "Grandpa"); they are the absolute best. They hold the best stories, peculiar habits, pocket candies, "old-timer" stereotypes, and so much more. This book is a collaboration of haiku and free form poems which are perfect to read together for some special Grandfatherly "bonding time." (Have fun getting frustrated as you attempt to answer a million questions about what everything in the book means). It is also a "homerun" gift idea for their birthday (which they most likely forgot about), any other special occasion, or a "just because" present. Unless your Grandfather has literally no sense of humor whatsoever... then maybe don't even bother. Otherwise, "play ball!"

Book A Collection of Poetry about Generational Differences

Download or read book A Collection of Poetry about Generational Differences written by Brad Shaw and published by . This book was released on 2017-12-31 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of poetry deals with the separation of generations and the challenges they present. In this coming of age sort of story we see the same story told from two different perspectives. First we have the perspective of the grandfather that is raising his grandson after his son dies. He loves his grandson but as he gets older he sees the separation that they have. The lack of communicating face to face, he doesn't leave his room because everything he lives for is in his room. His grandson loves his grandfather and we know that but he wishes that he could connect with him like he wants to. The Grandson poem tells the story of a loving kid who appreciates his grandfather and loves him dearly. He sees the separation but it¿s just life to him. These poems run side-by-side sharing both of their realities and is very emotionally charged with love and appreciation on both sides. Beautiful moments of the grandson showing him how to use a cell phone, grandpa cooking dinner for his grandson¿s girlfriend and how to take pictures. In the end of the poems the grandson is leaving for college, he sits on the front porch and shows grandpa how to work his new cell phone so that he can call him, take and receive pictures and always have a piece of him with him. These poems can be done separately one after the other or can be woven so that each perception of their reality can be seen at the same time.

Download or read book Grandpa s Collection written by A. Stephen Garnett and published by Xlibris Us. This book was released on 2018-11-29 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cover summarizes life in many ways. It was not intentional but obvious when I looked at it later. The tree represents the many things that can interfere with a productive and rewarding life. This tree was once healthy and beautiful but now is in a state of dying. The limbs that once provided strong support are weak and failing. The eagle on a mission displays the majesty of God's creation. The white surrounding the text of the title represents the protection that surrounds us daily--God, the creator; Jesus Christ, the savior; the Holy Spirit; a loving family; and a few loving friends. We are responsible for surrounding ourselves with these layers of protection by maintaining effective relationships with these great resources. As you go through this book, you will see a couple of points that are emphasized by bold and/or large font. This may be a revelation to some, a reminder to others, or for some, it will be very familiar and be a part of their daily life. One of my most impressive bosses referred to points like these as gold nuggets. That term has stuck with me for over thirty-five years.

Book Little Kings

  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Little Kings written by Peter Kahn and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peter Kahn's debut collection Little Kings is an astonishing book of astute and deeply humane poetry, one which seeks to find in both teaching and learning a common ground, and between longing and belonging an equilibrium. Intuitive and wise, Kahn's poems remain compelling even when exploring those places where there is "no vocabulary for what might happen". Little Kings encompasses stories of the Jewish diaspora and of American life, interweaving narratives of escape and refuge, of yearning and absence. Some of these poems ricochet with the magnitude of loss and violence, with lives interrupted, half-lived, or vanished. Anchoring these poems is their immense grace and lyricism, and Kahn's great skill in tenderly carrying memory and experience into our shared understanding.
