Book Be Marvelous

Download or read book Be Marvelous written by Stephanie Stock and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-04-26 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stephanie Stock was an average typical high school senior in 2018, living and dreaming of a marvelous life. Everything seemed to be perfect until one day, Venom entered her life and began to take her down piece by piece. Everything changed. Nothing seemed real. OCD and anxiety had taken over her life, and there seemed to be no hope or redemption. After believing that the problem was herself and avoiding accepting the reality of mental illness, she lost every part of herself until she found inspiration from Marvel. Marvel comes to life in Be Marvelous when Stephanie Stock shares her life with her villain of OCD and anxiety. Knowing the stigma on mental illness, Stephanie felt that it was either being accepted by hiding away to only lose herself or fighting for herself and face negative stigma. Everything changed when she realized that she is a hero, while her OCD is her villain. For two years, Stephanie gave into Venom and lost her life completely to OCD, but once she aspired to be like her heroes in Marvel, she knew how to fight for herself. It became a simple battle between a hero and a villain. The problem was not her but something in her. “I am Ghost-Spider, and Venom has nothing on me.”

Book excerpt: You’ve been told a lie, what you know about grandparents is wrong, problematic at its best. Under the duress of traumatic stress, I tried to kill a black cat-crazy-evil on purpose. Yet, it tried to kill me first! Babysitting gigs went everywhere other than smooth. Each day was a “War Zone.” Dracula just showed up on the regular without even a knock on the door before I could invite him in. Neighbors walked around looking like “Zombies” of an unknown planet. Dogs and chickens are humongously gigantic, they tried to eat me/my whole family. My prayers to God is the only thing that saved my life.

Book Please Remember My Name at My Funeral

Download or read book Please Remember My Name at My Funeral written by Fred Zobel and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How would you like to be remembered at your funeral or memorial service? Perhaps you don't care although that's hard to believe. Would you care if the officiating person even mentions your name or anything about a few personal accomplishments or family relationships? As an emloyee of a funeral home following retirement from the United Methodist Church, the author witnessed numerous funeral services led by various clergy persons of different faith groups. Some services were well thought out and brought hope and healing to surviving persons. However, a number of those services indicated the opposite--services that were lethargic and impersonal by officiants who hardly mentioned a word about the deceased person including their name. It was almost as though the deceased person barely entered or exited their life's journey without any impact. The title of the book comes from some of those reflections while employed at the funeral home. The first part of the book provides some insights about funeral services, reflections on grief practices and cultural mores, and the raising of several issues that challenge a sometimes impersonal, pernicious, and apathethic clergy as to how grief ministry is provided. The book also provides several examples of outstanding clergy care and pastoral support during times of mourning. The second part of the book contains a few humorous thoughts on several practical issues that he has encountered. The book concludes with thoughts about the nomadic and traveling lifestyle that he and his wife have enjoyed for the last six years.

In Hide or Seek, he shares his memories growing up in Tuckerman, Arkansas, highlighting his first eight years. Nicknamed “Bubby” by his older brothers, he suffered tragedy and loss—but also enjoyed good times. As you read, allow your inner child to walk alongside him as he copes with the unexpected and finds strength to persevere. One of the best lifelines he had growing up was Jesus. When the author needed Him, He was there—and continues to be there to this day. When the author needed someone to help, He brought them. Anytime a person opens their life, they take a chance of losing a part of themselves. The author wrote this book to gain a part of himself that had been missing—and to encourage others to avoid hiding things of the heart.
