Book excerpt: From Grammy-Award winning music superstar and actor Tim McGraw comes a one-of-a kind lifestyle book that melds his personal fitness transformation story with practical advice to inspire healthy changes in readers’ lives. Tim McGraw is as well-known for his unparalleled accomplishments in the entertainment industry as he is for his boundless energy—he is the embodiment of vitality and success. But only a decade ago, he found himself struggling with his health. The demands of his meteoric career and life on the road had taken a toll. McGraw came to a crossroads where knew that unless he made his physical health a priority, he would put his personal happiness and professional success at risk. In Grit & Grace, McGraw shares his transformation story along with encouragement, inspiration, and real-life, practical advice to help readers become healthy, strong and fit in mind and body. For the first time, McGraw will share the details of the mental and physical routine that got him in the best shape of his life. He suggests that there is no magic formula to getting stronger and healthier: it is about making a commitment to do and be better, and holding yourself accountable each day. McGraw didn’t follow a playbook or have a squad of trainers overseeing his every step. He describes his way of getting into shape as more "maverick"--tuning into a vision of what you personally want to achieve, staying focused, and putting in the work. McGraw says his physical transformation has ignited a whole-life transformation. "My mind is clearer, my sense of purpose is sharper, and my relationships are deeper. Consistent physical exercise helps me bring focus to my life and to the people who mean the most to me." In Grit & Grace, McGraw makes this transformation accessible to anyone, sharing with readers the physical and mental tools they can use to create the life they deserve.

  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Grace Upon Grace written by John W. Kleinig and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Christian spirituality is, quite simply, following Jesus. It is the ordinary life of faith in which we receive Baptism, attend the Divine Service, participate in the Holy Supper, read the Scriptures, pray for ourselves and others, resist temptation, and work with Jesus in our given location here on earth." - from the Introduction The longing for spiritual fulfillment, inevitably paired with spiritual frustration, is common among Christians. Do we read and study the Bible enough? Do we worship often and in the right way? Do we pray enough, in the correct way, and for the right things? How do we become truly spiritual? And the answers from numerous self-help spirituality books only lead to confusion and the fear of missing key steps on the road to becoming spiritual. In response, John W. Kleinig clarifies that there is no process for becoming spiritual. Instead, God graciously gives to us every spiritual gift that we need, beginning with the very gift of faith in Christ, our Savior. Because God has joined us to Christ, He continually comes to give us life.

Download or read book Grace written by Grace Roys and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2017-04-12 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grace Woodbridge Roys suffered from bi-polar disease before it was well understood. Her daughter feared that her children would also suffer mental illness. This annotation of Grace's diary opens the early 1900s missionary world in China and the personality of Grace to the reader. In December 1910 Grace married Harvey Curtis Roys, who was teaching physics at Kiang Nan government school in Nanking, under the sponsorship of the YMCA. Grace had had a mental breakdown weeks earlier when her missionary father forbade the marriage. The diary records their early married life, the births of their first two children, their social life with other missionaries in China, many of whom made major contributions to Nanking life and education: medical doctors and nurses, theology professors, agricultural innovators, and founders of universities, hospitals, nursing schools, and schools for young Chinese women and men. Included is their experience evacuating during the Sun Yat-sen Revolution of 1911. Well-known missionaries of that time came to tea and taught at the Hillcrest School that the mothers began for foreign children. The Nanyang Exposition took place in 1910, too, as China was in the throes of entering the modern era, with trains, electricity, telegraphs, and a new interest in democracy.

Book Malfunctioning Secularized Ministries in Today s Churches

Download or read book Malfunctioning Secularized Ministries in Today s Churches written by George D. Cutler and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-06-30 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Malfunctioning Secularized Ministries in Today's Churches" The information herein decries today's modern churches' ministering to the trendiness of prioritizing physicality over spirituality. Factually stated, substantial fractions of today's church ministries unashamedly cater to whatever appeals the most to the masses. This entails resonating with what is secular and/or material rather than spiritual and/or consecrated. Here the challenge offered for evaluation is what are more significant, temporary earthly possessions or eternally Heavenlies' inheritances. Scriptural assessments document the instructions and directives specifically conveyed for church ministries' functioning and operating, as contrasted with the popular accepted practices so prevailingly displayed in the more prominently recognized religious institutions. Herein, a scriptural appeal is made for simply following the dictates of GOD'S WORD! About the Author George D. Cutler was born in Tampa Florida in 1944. He received a BS Degree in Architectural Engineering from Tennessee State University, Nashville Tennessee in 1967. He has tenured more than 42 years of ministry in Detroit, Michigan including 12 years where he currently serves as senior pastor of the Grace Gospel Church in Ferndale Michigan. Pastor Cutler briefly matriculated at the Biblion Seminary, Silverton, Oregon including a number of years of correspondences with this institution

Book excerpt: All over the world people are the same, and what is even more interesting, we all have the same hopes, we desire many of the same dreams, we share the same emotions, we all share a time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to fear, a time to love, a time to care, a time to feel angry, a time when we are sad, and a time when joy brings us to that place of total happiness, peace, and tranquility; which is a sure moment in time. And the truth of the matter is this, God is on the throne and it is only in Him, through Him, and by Him, that all things are made possible for us. Because He has assured us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. God is a BIG GOD! And whatever your challenge is, whatever your struggle is, whatever concern you may have, and whatever it is that you are dealing with in your life today, there is nothing too hard for God. In God works Through Human Personality the author exemplifies beautifully through inspiration what God can do, and will do for you, when you put your trust in Him. The word of God clearly encourages us by this saying; if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us, and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1 John 5: 14-15 And know that there are angels we see, and there are angels we don''t see, this is how we know that God is our comforter, our helper, our maker, and our redeemer, through the many trials we face, and the courage we are inspired through the men, women and sometimes children that we cross on a daily basis. There is no respect of persons with God. Romans 2: 11 We are encouraged to let brotherly love continue. And be not forgetful to entertain strangers; forthereby some have entertained angels, remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Hebrews 13: 1-3 How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133: 1 The Lord said
