Book Fostering Spirituality in the Workplace

Download or read book Fostering Spirituality in the Workplace written by Priscilla Berry and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2013-05-28 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, there are deep and rapid changes on companies, employees, and the global economy that should not be underestimated, and future world leaders must be prepared to lead in a manner that is socially responsible, ethical, and pro_ table. A corporation with a business model that polarizes or operates solely in the interest of its shareholders is unsustainable and current benchmarks can be unrealistic tools for businesses to rely upon as measures of future success. This book explores historical data, analyzes current events from the world stage, and delivers a worldview that challenges some existing paradigms in business. As we are living business history, the book draws from the epic economic, environmental, and cultural shifts in our collective consciousness. It begins a vital conversation by introducing some thought paradigms that will challenge current business practices, create a vision for the future, and provide a road map to navigate this uncharted territory. In the end, the author outlines specific action that you must take now to end the economic and moral decline in this first part of the 21st century.

Book The African American Male School Adaptability Crisis Amsac

Download or read book The African American Male School Adaptability Crisis Amsac written by Joe L. Rempson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-03-12 with total page 638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The African American Male School Adaptability Crisis (AMSAC) cannot be solved by the school alone. It is a race problem which can only be solved if we black males provide the leadership in tackling our three major demons which now mainly account for the problem: IQ lag-fatherless families-crime. AMSAC had its origin about 100 years ago when, after the death of Washington, DuBois gained ascendancy in our African American Garden of Eden and replaced Washingtons brains, property, and character gospel with a civil rights agenda. That agenda has led to a civil-rights fixation and our second bondage, Victimology, wherein being the victim has become part of our core identity and made us psychological slaves. Rather than being proud and self-reliant, disproportionately, we have come to see ourselves as victims who are entitled to system help and special treatment. This bondage and it is a bondage -- vitiates our manhood and the energy and drive required to pursue the adaptation pathway paved by Washington, but demonized by DuBois. Return to that pathway and we can confront and conquer AMSAC and our three major demons. Guided by history and the research evidence, this book details how. Its 20 chapters make for long reading, but, just by reading the first and last chapters, you can get the message. The motto of the proposed evidence-based experimental program, the African American Male Career Pathway Program (AMCAP). A special appeal is made to black athletes and entertainers to help propagate this motto and support the proposed high school student clubs (Student AMCAPs) in its implementation.

Book Corruption Economic Growth and Globalization

Download or read book Corruption Economic Growth and Globalization written by Aurora A.C. Teixeira and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-08-14 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corruption is increasingly placed on top of the agenda of national governments and supra national institutions, such as the OECD, UN or the World Bank. A necessary condition for promoting sustainable economic growth is the pre-existence of a stable political system which is able to control corruption. Corruption, however, is a very complex issue, associated with institutional and cultural specificities, personality traits related to individualistic values, and criminal personalities. In this book the social, political and economic realities that prevail in particular settings are viewed from an interdisciplinary, multidimensional, and a multi country perspective. This book is divided into three parts. The first part presents a comprehensive, theoretical and empirical framework of corruption with an overview of literature on economic growth and corruption. Part two, encompasses the in-depth analysis of several countries, ranging from middle corrupted contexts like Portugal, to highly corrupted countries including Serbia, Russia, Thailand and China- the latter viewed from the perspective of firms from a very low corruption country such as Finland. The final part explores the prevention and control of corruption, looking at the public sector in Thailand and fighting corruption with different strategies. This volume is of the interest of those who study international economics, development economics or organised crime.

Book Political Discourse in Emergent Fragile and Failed Democracies

Download or read book Political Discourse in Emergent Fragile and Failed Democracies written by Orwenjo, Daniel Ochieng and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Any system of government is comprised of several dimensions of functionality, which must all work in congruence. When any part of the system is dysfunctional, the government’s stability becomes fractured and societal problems can arise. Political Discourse in Emergent, Fragile, and Failed Democracies examines the effects of unstable democratic systems of government in modern society, providing an imperative analysis on political communications from such nations. Highlighting real-world examples on the constraints seen in malfunctioning or emerging governments, this book is a pivotal reference source for policy makers, researchers, academicians, and upper-level students interested in politics and governance.

Book Media Moms Digital Dads

Download or read book Media Moms Digital Dads written by Yalda T Uhls and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-10-04 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is social media ruining our kids? How much Internet activity is too much? What do FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), sexting, and selfies mean for teens? Are you curious about what research says about how media and technology are affecting childhood? Supported by academic research focused on technology, Media Moms & Digital Dads breaks down complex issues in a friendly, accessible fashion, making it a highly useful and, ultimately, reassuring read for anyone who worries about the impact that media might be having on young minds. Each chapter delves into a different issue related to kids and media so parents can easily find their particular issue of concern. Dr. Uhls ends each chapter with quick takeaways, in the form of tips and guidance for parents. Dr. Uhls' expertise as a former Hollywood film executive and as a current expert on child development and the media gives her a unique and important perspective. As a trained scientist she understands the myriad studies conducted by researchers, and as a mom of digital teens, she knows what actually works and can relate to the reality of being a parent in the 21st century. Dr. Uhls also describes the primary research she conducted at UCLA, including whether extensive screen time impacts non-verbal emotional understanding, which has been covered in the New York Times, Time magazine, and on National Public Radio. There are few more important issues for parents today than helping children safely navigate the digital world in which we live, a world that provides immense opportunity for learning and connecting yet also puts kids in a position to make mistakes and even cause harm. Knowing what the facts are and when and how to get involved is perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of modern parenting. Media Moms & Digital Dads offers parents reassuring and fact-based guidance on how best to manage screens and media for their children.

Book excerpt: The digital world has impacted the way Canadians socialize and interact with others, teach and learn, conduct business, experience culture, fight political battles, and acquire knowledge. The traditional forms of media, newspapers, radio, and television are being replaced by digital media which is fast, sporadic, and sometimes inaccurate. As a result, Canada is experiencing a number of overlapping crises simultaneously: a crisis in traditional media, a crisis in public broadcasting, a crisis in news and journalism, and a crisis in citizen engagement.
