Download or read book Gold Bubble written by Yoni Jacobs and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-04-24 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do TV shows, vending machines, Chinese taxi companies, and a former UK prime minister point to a gold bubble that is about to burst? Many investors consider gold a "safe haven" that will shelter them from recessions, falling markets, and the depreciating value of currency. Many fail to realize, however, that investing in gold at these levels is extremely risky. "We Buy Gold" stores line busy streets, gold miners are no longer protecting themselves from a potential drop in prices, and gold is even being sold in vending machines. All this points to one thing: a gold bubble has formed and will collapse very soon, hurting investors, funds, and banks. In Gold Bubble: Profiting From Gold's Impending Collapse, Yoni Jacobs looks at how you can protect yourself. Presenting an in-depth analysis of gold dating back over a hundred years, the book explores the structural factors that have allowed gold to form a bubble, why an investor psychology of fear and greed is leading to extremely speculative behavior, why gold will fall during an upcoming recession, what effect the dollar and the stock market will have on the future of gold prices, and how to profit from a gold collapse while the majority of investors lose out. There are plenty of warning signs that gold is about to decline and this book will help you to get ready Gold Bubble is the only book to argue that a gold bust is coming, going head-to-head with the herd mentality Filled with practical advice on how to protect yourself and even profit from gold's collapse by being prepared for what's ahead With gold prices up over 2,500 percent since 1970, and more than 600 percent since 1999, a bubble has formed and is on the verge of bursting. But until now, no one has been willing to publicly bet against the universal currency. With Gold Bubble you are ready to meet this challenge head on, and take advantage of what other investors won't even acknowledge.

Book The Next Great Bubble Boom

Download or read book The Next Great Bubble Boom written by Harry S. Dent and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-05-08 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over fifteen years, New York Times bestselling author Harry S. Dent, Jr., has been uncannily accurate in predicting the financial future. In his three previous works, Dent predicted the financial recession of the early nineties, the economic expansion of the mid-nineties, and the financial free-for-all of 1998-2000. The Next Great Bubble Boom -- part crystal ball, part financial planner -- offers a comprehensive forecast for the next two decades, showing new models for predicting the future behavior of the economy, inflation, large- and small-cap stocks, bonds, key sectors, and so on. In taking a look at past booms and busts, Dent compares our current state to that of the crash of 1920-21, and the years ahead of us to the Roaring Twenties. Dent gives advice on everything from investment strategies to real estate cycles, and shows not only how bright our future will be but how best to profit from it. Dent gives us all something to look forward to, including: The Dow hitting 40,000 by the end of the decade The Nasdaq advancing at least ten times from its October 2001 lows to around 13,500, and potentially as high as 20,000 by 2009 Another strong advance in stocks in 2005, with a significant correction into around September/October 2006 The Great Boom resurging into its final and strongest stage in 2007, and even more fully in 2008, lasting until late 2009 to early 2010 Dent's amazing ability to track and forecast our financial future is renowned, and here he takes that ability to the next level, showing not only what our economy will look like but also how it will affect us as individuals, as organizations, and as a culture. From the upcoming wealth revolution to the essential principles of entrepreneurial success, the book describes a new society where economic and philanthropic development go hand in hand. In The Next Great Bubble Boom, Dent shows not only how the economic growth of the late 1990s was a prelude to the true great boom right around the corner but how all of us can reap its benefits.

Book Bursting the Bubble Rationality in a Seemingly Irrational Market

Download or read book Bursting the Bubble Rationality in a Seemingly Irrational Market written by David F. DeRosa and published by CFA Institute Research Foundation. This book was released on 2021-04-02 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The presence of speculative bubbles in capital markets (an important area of interest in financial history) is widely accepted across many circles. Talk of them is pervasive in the media and especially in the popular financial press. Bubbles are thought to be found primarily in the stock market, which is our main interest, although bubbles are said to occur in other markets. Bubbles go hand in hand with the notion that markets can be irrational. The academic community has a great interest in bubbles, and it has produced scholarly literature that is voluminous. For some economists, doing bubble research is like joining the vanguard of a Kuhnian paradigm shift in economic thinking. Not so fast. If bubbles did exist, they would pose a serious challenge to neoclassical finance. Bubbles would contradict the ideas that markets are rational or work in an informationally efficient manner. That’s what makes the topic of bubbles interesting. This book reviews and evaluates the academic literature as well as some popular investment books on the possible existence of speculative bubbles in the stock market. The main question is whether there is convincing empirical evidence that bubbles exist. A second question is whether the theoretical concepts that have been advanced for bubbles make them plausible. The reader will discover that I am skeptical that bubbles actually exist. But I do not think I or anyone else will ever be able to conclusively prove that there has never been a bubble. From studying the literature and from reading history, I find that many famous purported bubbles reflect inaccurate history or mistakes in analysis or simply cannot be shown to have existed. In other instances, bubbles might have existed. But in each of those cases, there are credible rational explanations. And good evidence exists for the idea that even if bubbles do exist, they are not of great importance to understanding the stock market.

Book Beyond the Bubble

Download or read book Beyond the Bubble written by Michael Thomsett and published by AMACOM. This book was released on 2007-02-14 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We’ve all heard the reports -- the great housing boom that has fueled premium prices and sellers’ dreams is slowing down. The real estate market may experience ups and downs like any other, but it’s not likely to implode spontaneously. With proper planning and a little knowledge, homeowners, investors, and other stakeholders can avoid disaster and in fact profit on their properties regardless of what the market does. Beyond the Bubble takes a balanced look at what drives changes in real estate markets and how these changes affect property owners and investors. Readers will learn: * the history, nature, and dynamics of market ‘bubbles’ * how to anticipate a coming downturn and act accordingly * the regional nature of real estate market conditions * differences and similarities in residential and commercial markets * other profit strategies when selling is difficult or impossible * how to analyze the market using facts, not hype. Thorough and well-reasoned, Beyond the Bubble will help property owners maintain a strong and level foundation for their financial futures.

Book The Bubble Economy

Download or read book The Bubble Economy written by Robert U. Ayres and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2014-05-30 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why the global economy has become increasingly unstable, and how financial “de-carbonization” could break the pattern of bubble-driven wealth destruction. The global economy has become increasingly, perhaps chronically, unstable. Since 2008, we have heard about the housing bubble, subprime mortgages, banks “too big to fail,” financial regulation (or the lack of it), and the European debt crisis. Wall Street has discovered that it is more profitable to make money from other people's money than by investing in the real economy, which has limited access to capital—resulting in slow growth and rising inequality. What we haven't heard much about is the role of natural resources—energy in particular—as drivers of economic growth, or the connection of “global warming” to the economic crisis. In The Bubble Economy, Robert Ayres—an economist and physicist—connects economic instability to the economics of energy. Ayres describes, among other things, the roots of our bubble economy (including the divergent influences of Senator Carter Glass—of the Glass-Steagall Law—and Ayn Rand); the role of energy in the economy, from the “oil shocks” of 1971 and 1981 through the Iraq wars; the early history of bubbles and busts; the end of Glass-Steagall; climate change; and the failures of austerity. Finally, Ayres offers a new approach to trigger economic growth. The rising price of fossil fuels (notwithstanding “fracking”) suggests that renewable energy will become increasingly profitable. Ayres argues that government should redirect private savings and global finance away from home ownership and toward “de-carbonization”—investment in renewables and efficiency. Large-scale investment in sustainability will achieve a trifecta: lowering greenhouse gas emissions, stimulating innovation-based economic growth and employment, and offering long-term investment opportunities that do not depend on risky gambling strategies with derivatives.

Book Magnetic Domain Walls in Bubble Materials

Download or read book Magnetic Domain Walls in Bubble Materials written by A. P. Malozemoff and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetic Domain Walls in Bubble Materials covers the physics of domain walls in bubble domain materials. The book describes the microscopic origins and characteristics of the material parameters; the principles of domain statics and the Landau-Lifshitz equation, which is the basic equation of magnetization dynamics; and its physical significance. The text then discusses the experimental techniques, both static and dynamic, used in studying domain walls; the static internal structure of bubble-domain walls; the Bloch-wall dynamics based on one-dimensional solutions of the Landau-Lifshitz equation; and the wall-motion theory. The theory to low velocity phenomena in domain walls containing vertical Bloch; high-velocity radial and quasi-planar wall motions; and nonlinear bubble translation including the implications of the theory for bubble motion in devices, are also considered. The book further surveys special phenomena involving vibrations and wave motions of walls, and the effects of microwave-frequency fields on walls. Engineers and materials researchers involved in the development of practical bubble devices will find the book invaluable.
