Book Your Evolving Soul

Download or read book Your Evolving Soul written by Byron Belitsos and published by Red Wheel/Weiser. This book was released on 2017-05-25 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sparks of genuine revelation are contained in many religions and esoteric systems. Your Evolving Soul declares that we’ve been graced with a new revelation for our time: the little-known Urantia Book, which has quietly sold over one million copies in a dozen languages. According to the author of this comparative analysis, the disclosures about self, soul, and spirit in the Urantia Revelation stand alone in their coherence and richness of detail. Your Evolving Soul is the first book to fully explain this advanced teaching for the ordinary reader, offering clarity and inspiration for those on any path. Belitsos compares the Urantia Book’s futuristic teachings about the threefold design of the human self-system to the models of selfhood proposed by many previous thinkers, ranging from from Plato and Saint Augustine to Carl Jung and Ken Wilber. He provides essential context for this discussion by illumining the relationship of the Urantia text to scientific psychology and to the world’s religions, with special emphasis on Christianity and Buddhism. Your Evolving Soul also provides an introduction to the cosmology, theology, and philosophy of the Urantia teaching, and reveals its many affinities with contemporary integral theory and modern theology. Through his lucid interpretation of the Urantia Revelation, the author offers a model of the human self and soul to be tested, examined, and compared—not a finished truth to be accepted as doctrine. Readers of this book will discover a plausible hypothesis of how our evolving soul becomes an immortal vehicle of our true identity. They also learn how our soul-making decisions can lead to the development of a creative, loving, unified, and perfected personality, now and into the afterlife.

Book excerpt: God’s Word, Man’s Interpretations: A Critical Study of the 21st Century English Translations of the Quran evaluates the relative strengths and weaknesses of 30 English translations of the Quran which have come out recently, between 2000 and 2017. This assessment of the Quranic scholarship adumbrates several issues: translatability of the Word of God, translators’ ideological presuppositions and intrusions, the need and relevance of the English translation and the growing trends and changes in the field to which both Muslim and non-Muslim scholars alike have vigorously contributed. It also points out how the field of English translation of the Quran now serves as a new site for forging interfaith relations.

Also argues that the change was not generated by factors external to science such as the advent of the printing press or social changes, but by a continual negotiation by scientists themselves for meaning in which the narratives of the Book and the Word vied for authority. Book The Word of God for the People of God

Download or read book The Word of God for the People of God written by J. Todd Billings and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book fills a real need for pastors and students. Though there is currently a large body of material on the theological interpretation of Scripture, most of it is highly specific and extremely technical. J. Todd Billings here provides a straightforward entryway for students and pastors to understand why theological interpretation matters and how it can be done. / A solid, constructive theological work, The Word of God for the People of God presents a distinctive Trinitarian, participatory approach toward reading Scripture as the church. Billings's accessible yet substantial argument for a theological hermeneutic is rooted in a historic vision of the practice of scriptural interpretation even as it engages a wide range of contemporary issues and includes several exegetical examples that apply to concrete Christian ministry situations.

Book Father Son God s Word Are One

Download or read book Father Son God s Word Are One written by David Lee Keller and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-09-10 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:12-14) To fear God, you must first believe there is a God. To keep God's commandments, you must first have a love to know God's heart and His will for all people. Only then with love for God and love for your neighbor will you have a heart to keep God's commandments. Place your faith and your trust in the spoken words of the Father/Son. Many Christians seem to focused on what they see as a faith requirement for salvation and go no further. They don't see a need to love God nor to walk in His ways, no need to imitate Christ. The Father and Son yearn for a relationship through this life and the next. Don't worry about salvation after death; pursue a walk with God in the present, and do your best to imitate Christ in this life. Peace, joy, and happiness is in the walk with the Creator today. In that walk with the Father/Son, trials will continue to come, but now, you will have a strong hand at your side. And that strong hand will carry you through this life and the next! May you have a love and a joy to please the Creator and the provider of salvation through His Son! May you have a faithfulness that comes from the heart.

Book The Trustworthiness of God

Download or read book The Trustworthiness of God written by Paul Helm and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For two millennia the church has affirmed and celebrated Scripture as the written word of God. However, in the twentieth century, the doctrine of Scripture became the focus and flashpoint for division. One legacy of those debates has been a reluctance to address the nature of Scripture. This collection of essays seeks to re-open dialogue on this fundamental tenet of the Christian faith, by offering something of a prelude to a fresh approach to Scripture. In particular, these explorations seek to map out some implications of the fundamental link between the character of God as trustworthy and the trustworthiness of His word. Following an introductory orientation, the first two sections take soundings in selected texts from the Old and New Testaments. The third section offers perspectives from church history, and also grapples with aspects of the contemporary context and philosophical and epistemological issues. Two responses to the main essays complete the collection. None of the contributors wishes to articulate the discussion in terms of the categories of past controversies, or pretends to offer an exhaustive analysis. All, however, share the desire to engage their readers in constructive dialogue on this vital issue.

Book A Lay Preacher but Gods Word

Book excerpt: A Sinner was a 33 year old ordinary English working class man, content and happy with his family life. One day he curiously attends a Christian Fellowship in a local community centre. After many visits and much thought he eventually accepts Christ as his personal saviour. Two years later he finds he is given a preaching commitment. Here is his lay preachers notes of some 20 years, biblical expositions with historical and contemporary commentaries. It is a warts and all record, not only of serous scriptural sermons but also on church and personal life experiences some humorous some tragic. He is critical of much of established religion and the fact he reluctantly uses a pen name tells of his fears of the changing face of his country and shows his belief that much of its freedoms for Christians and free speech in general has been and is being lost. He holds no theological exams or college training and does not qualify for what he describes as the hindrance of a dog collar, but believes in Gods Holy Spirit that has and does convict man if mans heart is willing to be open to Him. So are any or any part of these words Gods word? Thats for you with the Holy Spirit to decide.
