However, when confronted with the error of their ways, like the Israelites, of the Old Testament, they repented, asked God to forgive them and help them to start over. Ventress Chandler-Latham, the author of Stepping Stones to Victory, has preached in many different congregations and has had first-hand experience with Christians who have sometimes fallen away from the faith. She has counseled with those who have come to the altar to seek reconciliation with the Lord. Sometimes she has had to reassure them that God, who is merciful, still loves them and is willing to forgive and embrace them again. The author believes that, each Christian, will, at the end of the journey, declare, like the Apostle Paul, 'I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course; I, have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7&8). Being a follower of Christ does not mean that a person is perfect. God knows this. However, He expects Christians to stay on the path of righteousness, despite the, overwhelming pressure they sometimes experience from the world, the flesh and the Devil. Victory is sweet! Who would not want to attain it? Finding it after defeat has been experienced, is even sweeter. In any arena, being a winner is very gratifying, especially when many challenges have been overcome before becoming triumphant. In Stepping Stones to Victory, the author helps readers to reach forth and grasp success. It is her fervent prayer that each reader will be encouraged to persevere to the finish line in his or her walk of faith.
