Book excerpt: Following a brief discussion of the mission mandate, Yamamori presents several pages of data to support the "83%"projection of his opening statement: "when the twenty-first century begins, an estimated 83% of the world's non-Christian population will reside in countries closed to traditional missionary approaches.". In light of the serious limitations on traditional missionary access, he proposes a new breed of missionaries, whom he calls "God's New Envoys" (GNE's). Their unique mandate is ". . . to reach the growing number of non-Christians who are out of reach of traditional missionary efforts" (p. 56). Much more than "tentmakers," GNE's are distinguished from traditional missionaries not only by financial support, but also by training and strategy.

Book Envoys of a Human God

Download or read book Envoys of a Human God written by Andreu Martínez d'Alòs-Moner and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Envoys of A Human God Andreu Martínez offers a comprehensive study of the religious mission led by the Society of Jesus in Christian Ethiopia. The mission to Ethiopia was one of the most challenging undertakings carried out by the Catholic Church in early modern times. The book examines the period of early Portuguese contacts with the Ethiopian monarchy, the mission’s main developments and its aftermath, with the expulsion of the Jesuit missionaries. The study profits from both an intense reading of the historical record and the fruits of recent archaeological research. Long-held historiographical assumptions are challenged and the importance of cultural and socio-political factors in the attraction and ultimate estrangement between European Catholics and Ethiopian Christians is highlighted.

Book God s Presence In His Kingdom

Book excerpt: We all need our mindsets to be an Ambassador of Heaven in this book. God is building up a new generation of godly men and women. The Kingdom of God can appear to be a vast spiritual frontier that has yet to be explored! As a result, in order to correctly perceive and tap into all that God wants to disclose to us, especially in days like these-days of the harvest-we need a Kingdom perspective. "How can we advance God's Kingdom with a right Kingdom perspective, one that reveals God's love and glory?" you might wonder. There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to being Heaven's emissaries. Let us begin by recognizing that the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God are one and the same; the Kingdom of God is Heaven on Earth, and we must learn to synchronize the two; and God's Kingdom is an infinitely expanding Kingdom with no end. We also have the treasure of God within us, and this treasure enables us to work alongside God to save souls and show His glory on the planet. Before we go into the formal name for this diplomatic envoy, let's look at a word that's associated with diplomatic relations: diplomacy. Diplomacy refers to the management of international relations.

Book excerpt: God did not create us for us; God created us for Himself. From the time we accept Christ as Lord and Savior until we physically die; what do we do? We keep the Charge of the Lord; that is what we do. This charge is also The Law of the Kingdom. The Law of The Kingdom is Love. We are to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind, and with all of our strength and we are to love our neighbor as we love our self. Love is patient and love is kind. God is Love. If it aint love it is just noise. God, in his Word, instructs us to use Love as our battering ram against the gates of hell; He has declared that they shall not prevail against us. The Bible is our only instruction manual on how to live this life inside the Kingdom of God while still on earth. Gods people are perishing due to lack of knowledge not weakness. It is our obligation and duty to the King, to learn what we are to do and to do it with all of our might. This book is designed to help us to live that Charge of The Lord, by committing our hearts (minds) to live in obedience to The Law of The Kingdom, Love.

Book The Storm God and the Sea

Download or read book The Storm God and the Sea written by Noga Ayali-Darshan and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2020-05-12 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tale of the combat between the Storm-god and the Sea that began circulating in the early second millennium BCE was one of the most well-known ancient Near Eastern myths. Its widespread dissemination in distinct versions across disparate locations and time periods - Syria, Egypt, Anatolia, Ugarit, Mesopotamia, and Israel - calls for analysis of all the textual variants in order to determine its earliest form, geo-cultural origin, and transmission history. In undertaking this task, Noga Ayali-Darshan examines works such as the Astarte Papyrus, the Pisaisa Myth, the Songs of Hedammu and Ullikummi, the Baal Cycle, Enuma elis, and pertinent biblical texts. She interprets these and other related writings philologically according to their provenance and comparatively in the light of parallel texts. The examination of this story appearing in all the ancient Near Eastern cultures also calls for a discussion of the theology, literature, and history of these societies and the way they shaped the local versions of the myth.

Book excerpt: How was the universe created, and why? What is the role of man on Earth, and that of intelligent beings on other planets, in it? Why is man here, what is expected of him? These are some of the questions that this book answers. The translator considers the material in this book as religion and philosophy of life for scientists D for scientists and for other people who are willing to think for themselves and to question commonly accepted beliefs. It tells how man should live so that it would be good for everyone, so that Christ's statement about "Paradise on Earth" would indeed come true. The part dealing with religion can be divided into two broad categories. The first one explains, clarifies, and in a few cases supplements the concepts which the Prophets of the past, such as Buddha, Christ, Indra, Mohammed, Moses, Zoroaster, and others proclaimed. The second part tells what the Prophets of the past could not tell back then, because the humanity of that time would not have understood them. Now that humanity's science is much further advanced, The Almighty has decided to reveal the complete truth about the universe. Here the latest scientific knowledge is brought in, and hints are given beyond the current knowledge of science. This book tells about and explains The Almighty's religion of the universe. This in turn entails the reason for the creation of the universe, how the universe is being created and governed, and, yes, the very significant role which man on Earth is expected to play in this process. The Almighty's religion differs dramatically from all other religions currently practiced on Earth. It recognizes and acknowledges all other religions, it does not require an individual to join it. It does not threaten or condemn the "nonbelievers," it permits, it insists on each individual choosing freely for himself or herself. It merely provides some truly thought provoking material to ponder.
